My girlfriends sister is having computer problems

She said that she was doing a Windows Update, and when it came time to restart it, a black screen came up and it gave her two options: OK and Cancel. She has tried both and when she does it just reboots itself and then loads the same options. She has Windows 7 on an Acer Computer. Please help, because she has her schoolwork on that computer. She doesn't have a Windows 7 DVD disc. I think it could be she accidentally deleted the win.zip file, but she claims she didn't delete anything and she is panicking.

Can she boot it up in Safe Mode? If so, you should be able to do a Restore and get things back to the way they were. If you can get the Windows 7 DVD or download a backup disc from another pc, it would make things much easier. If you can get one, this article might help you:
