It was probably just a name they gave it. I never knew why people thought the Masterpiece Edition was a whole wave of DVDs. Looking back, I think Disney made Alice in Wonderland's DVD title in the same spirit as the "Most Wanted Edition," the "Friendship Edition," and the "Groovin' Jazz Edition" (disneyfreak90 wrote:kind of a waste to make an edition to only have one disc for it.
