So, somebody leaked the final version of Asha’s “I Want” song, “This Wish” and I can safely say that it’s legit guys. I’m guessing it came from Destination D23 when they screened 10 minutes of the film there. It’s a bit faster than what we heard back in D23 Expo last year and there’s some added instrumentals. Here’s the link.
https://youtu.be/blOIP_9t1Ak?si=M6U_liyRB5YFw3kf
Thanks for the link! Watched (heard) it now and the song is ok but I kinda preferred the singing style of Arianas live performance back last year, she had strong vocals there but here it sounds soo compressed idk. But still catchy

This Friday I hope. According to Cryptic, the trailer has been ready since September 6th and he has seen some part of the new trailer so I don't think we have to wait till the last the week of September like with Frozen.

Maybe tomorrow? Trailers are usually released before fridays, so tomorrow or it has to be next week
Also Aquaman 2 trailer comes out tomorrow and many times we get big trailers from different studios the same day (as competition on purpose to damage that studio)
So maybe tomorrow at the usual time
I hope so
And yes I want songs are most of the time pop songs but I expected the song to have a little bit (at least) of influences from the Al Andalus
Sorry, but I don’t think we get the trailer tomorrow, since it’ll be buried by Aquaman 2 or Friday since trailers don’t usually drop on Friday.
I have a feeling it will drop either next week or during the final week of September.

While I agree that the song is a bit weak for an "I Want" song, it does have some things that I like. I love the instrumental for this song since it has an optimistic, uplifting, and whimsical medieval vibe to it, great fit for the 100th anniversary movie, the lyrics are simple but the rhyming scheme for it is good, and I like Ariana's voice in this but there are some parts in the song where it feels off like when she stresses on some of the words. I think what would make the song memorable to Disney fans is it's visuals in the movie since I feel like on it's own, it may be unremarkable and sound like another typical Broadway song which they would not be expecting. However, that doesn't make me dislike it, it's a fine song with the instrumental being my favorite part.
Yes, the instrumentals are nice. The song itself has grown on me a bit since I first listened to it too, and while I don't love it, I do like it. I agree the visuals could help making it more memorable. The lyrics may also have more meaning in the context of the movie. Anyway, there are six other songs in the film; perhaps some of the others will be more memorable. If there are at least a couple that are truly good, then I don't mind if this one is just decent (to me).

I wonder how good the villain song will be. I'm not sure how good of a singer Chris Pine is but he must be good enough for Disney to hire him.
Well, he sung in
Into the Woods, so at least he has some experience. I think he doesn't sing bad, but I'm not a music expert.

I’m also doing my part to help raise awareness of this movie by telling my friends about it and showing them the teaser. Most of them are actually hyped about it and I was told that the teaser always played before movies like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Barbie, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in cinemas. It’s also advertised well in social media apps in my country so majority have known about it which is nice.

You’re right
D82, we still have more songs to listen and we still need to know how it plays out in the movie visually. Having to judge all of the musical numbers just by one song would seem kinda unfair tbh. It will be okay for me if “This Wish” is just fine as long as the other musical numbers are better than that one, but still I do think that it’s a nice song and I’m still listening to it in repeat since I really like the instrumental of the song

When I saw the presentation at Annecy's festival, the song "This Wish" was stuck in my mind days after while I can't remember the other song "You're a Star" which was ok but not as memorable (at least to me).
The second song was sang by animals in the forest if I remember well and it's the typical Disney foolish song with animals or objects we use to have in many films, which I'm not particularly fond of.
The I want song is better to me and Ariana's voice is great as well as the lyrics (I can hear castanets : aren't they supposed to be Mediterranean, Spanish or Portuguese?
Well, on a total of 7 songs in the overall movie, I guess there are probably 4 during the 1st act as I suppose one at the very beginning to introduce the settings and characters of Rosas, then "This Wish" and "You're a Star" which both happen in the 20 minutes footage I attended at Annecy's festival where the song of King Magnifico was not shown and cut to us, but should be there as well.
About the trailer, my guess is that it might pop up next week between Tuesday and Thursday.
We still have a few days to wait...
Here's attached a visual of the Teens on a puzzle from the illustrated style guide (not the final look of the characters) and a drawing of Asha, Valentino and Star for an upcoming figure.
Even if we don't see the Teens very much, except Dahlia as she is Asha's best friend, I'm excited about those characters, all different, and I love that the heroine has a groupe of friends in her life. It's very rare in Disney's animated movies.
Pocahontas has Nakoma and Tiana has Charlotte and... that's all, except the Big Hero 6 team and the friends Raya made during her journey.

I blame Big Hero 6 for my love of ensemble characters.

How each character in a group of 5 or more embodies an archetype (jerk, nice one, himbo, emotional, etc.) and how their personalities bounces off one another is just so...I don't have a word to describe that feeling

It's just that it's a good trope to me. This is why I love movies like Encanto and shows like Fairy Tail and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous because it allows for some great character dynamics from funny to serious to endearing moments during it. As for this ensemble group, I like how they paid homage to the 7 dwarfs but I just wish that they picked another good name than "The Teens".

I also hope that they also do some important stuff in the screen time they're given. Aside from that, I don't care, just give me good character dynamics between them and I'll be happy

Do you mean like "The Work Song" from
Cinderella or "Be Our Guest"? I personally like that type of song. Perhaps, I'll like this one more than you did.

I think an opening number was already confirmed, so you're probably right most of the songs will take place during the first act.

It's true it's not very common. I like that too. And as I said before, I personally don't have a problem with large casts. In fact, it's one of the aspects I liked the most about
Raya and the Last Dragon or
Encanto. What I don't like are the references to the seven dwarfs. The Teens having the same personality traits as them is a bit too much for my liking. More than referencing the film, it seems to me they're copying from it. I would've preferred something more subtle like them crossing the river on a log in one shot like the seven dwarfs or something like that. But we'll see, hopefully it's all more subtle than it sounds.

I hope they drop it during Monday Night Football so it can get more viewers around the world rather than botch the marketing by putting it on a morning show that barely anyone watches anymore like Good Morning America.

Better look at Mattel's Asha travel doll:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CxN49tst-tO/
The back of the box reveals the little satchel Asha has on her belt apparently serves to hide Star. I already suspected that's what it was used for, but I wasn't sure if Star could fit in there. I think it was
Disney's Divinity who noticed a while back Asha only wears the satchel in some images and not in others. Back then I checked the trailer again to see if she wore it there and she doesn't, what made me suspect she only wears it after meeting Star to hide it when she returns to the city.
I wonder where she will travel to. Will she just go around the island? Will she go to a neighboring kingdom by boat? Will she travel thanks to Star's magic? I also wonder what's the objective of that trip. Does she need to find some magical object or something which she'll need in order to defeat Magnifico?
I think what looks like a purple box is actually Asha's notebook because the cover is like the one in the Lego set.

The user that has the dolls have posted a history where you can see the basic Asha too. It seems that they are available in France so in a few weeks they should be in other countries too.
The face looks amazing, it's a pitty that the details on her dress are printed but I'm sure that the shop Disney one is going to have a wonderful gown. Can't wait to see all the merchandise.

Oh, it's true. I saw the story, but didn't notice the other doll was next to the travel one in that photo. I'm surprised it's already available in France. Perhaps the store where that person bought it put them on sale earlier by mistake. I think things like that have happened before.
By the way, I've noticed Asha's dress was slightly different in some of the concept art. The under layer was plain and more pink, neither it nor the belt had the symbol of Rosas, and she had some kind of hair ornaments. She even wears that earlier version in the test footage shown at D23. Personally, I'm glad they changed it. I think the final design is more harmonious.

Very minor but Asha having a shawl/scarf reminds me of Meg from Hercules. Specifically from this scene:
(Probably not a reference on Disney's end - I think it's just my own internalized purple dress comparisons

)
Who knows, maybe it's not a coincidence. Since this movie has so many references, I wouldn't be surprised if Asha's dress paid homage, for example, to all the Disney heroines wearing purple. If you think about it, the lacing at the neckline is a bit like Rapunzel's; apart from the shawl, the detail on the dress creates some ruffles which also remind a bit of Megara's outfit; and she has an ankle bracelet like Esmeralda (not to mention a goat as a pet

).
