WOW! That background is so lovely and detailed that it reminds me of old-school Disney. I can see why the characters and the way they're designed and animated may take getting used to for some; but for me I'm happy we're going in this direction quite frankly.

To be honest, that synopsis on the back of the German book doesn’t make me wanna rush right out and see this.
More like I can wait til it’s on TV or DVD.

While I’m not enthusiastic about the look of the characters, the background does look fabulous.

The sets show some new details, like our first look at Magnifico's magic book. It looks more like black magic than white one to me.

His castle also has a secret lab and a hidden mirrored wardrobe.

We can see Asha's notebook as well, where she draws little animations according to the footage descriptions.

It seems her grandfather likes to play the lute. And what's that paper on the wall which features a drawing of Asha? Is it a letter she wrote to her grandpa or something?

The description calls the well in Asha's home a wishing well. Does she have both a wishing well and a wishing tree?

Dahlia is shown cooking. I wonder if she's a cook or a baker or if it's just a hobby.

The Asha and the City of Rosas set includes a marketplace tour and Asha's tourist cart with a flag that "helps tourists find Asha on the tour." I also wonder if she has some job related to that.

If Asha is a tourist guide that means she's the first disney princess with an actual job (well Mulan was a soldier and that's a job, but I don't count it)

You forgot about Tiana, who has not one but two jobs. Elsa (and Anna) could count too since being a queen is a job, though we don't see them performing their royal duties much in the Frozen films. Moana is actually shown doing more than them as a princess and future leader. But you're right not many princesses (or lead Disney characters in general) have jobs.

Perhaps, since Asha's father died, her mother probably has to do the housework and her grandfather is too old to work, she's the one who has to provide for her family.

I don’t think any princess or Disney heroine worked harder than Snow White or Cinderella as abused scullery maids.
I couldn’t have done it.... certainly not as cheerily and with such kindness and good will.
Aurora is also shown doing housework (dusting and sweeping) and food gathering (berry picking), although under much happier circumstances living with her 3 beloved aunts.
Did any Disney Princess really sit around doing nothing but look beautiful ? I don’t think so...
Maybe one could argue Ariel or Jasmine... but even then, I’m not certain...

You're totally right that most disney princesses have been exploited in their movies, what I meant is a normal job.

I forgot about tiana who also had a regular job.

Btw how curious that the ones with real normal jobs (Cinderella was basically a slave) are black, I'm not against that since I like them having jobs but seems like it's not a coincidence

I think it's the same purple dress; it just looks a bit different in Lego form. As for Magnifico's hair, perhaps it looks a little brownish here, but I'd say it's still more grey than brown.

You're right about Snow White and Cinderella. I thought of mentioning them too, but wasn't sure if they counted as regular jobs since they don't get a salary, etc. Anyway, it wasn't my intention to criticize the Disney princesses for that or say they're lazy. I think most Disney protagonists don't have jobs simply because it's easier for them storywise to embark on an adventure if they don't have that kind of restriction. Also, some of them are kids or animals and others still quite young.

I bet it is. And I wouldn't be surprised if they included that reference you mentioned, UmbrellaFish. I think there'll probably also be some nod to Aladdin in the marketplace scenes.

It's not curious, if you think about it. The two Black princesses were created very recently and them having jobs was a clear response to feminist critiques that Disney heroines have no career goals and only want to get married.

There's a fine line between a casual reference and fan service, and so far Wish seems to fall more towards the latter. I get it, it's a celebration of Disney animation, but to me the way to celebrate the legacy is through themes, characters, music, not by how many allusions to prior works they can cram into the movie and then be super obvious about them. I mean, Belle makes a cameo in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", but no press release for THOND was like, "Both BatB and THOND are set in France, so to celebrate that we've put Belle in the movie." It was a short appearance that only eagle-eyed fans would notice. The whole Teens thing (apart from the stupid name) being inspired by the Dwarfs, it's kind of sad and desperate to me. I also feel they won't add much if anything to the movie -- too many underdeveloped supporting characters take away from the main character and their journey and can inadvertently turn the whole story into a series of episodic adventures (see also Meet the Robinsons, Encanto, Raya, Strange World). It's perfectly fine to have a cast of only 7 to 8 characters, including sidekicks. If my count is correct, Wish has like 15.
