A new interview about Wish with Jennifer Lee is out, which I translated to Spanish: https://www-ecartelera-com.translate.go ... r_pto=wapp.
Disney needs the spread-out overseas release to ensure it’s a hit.rodrigo_ca wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 4:53 pm What is even this thread![]()

I'm so excited for Wish. Too bad I won't be able to see it until January because Disney thinks it's 1990 again and will hold the release for 3 months here![]()

Anything is possible in the kingdom of wishes!
Asha lives in Rosas, where King Magnifico decides which wishes he wants to come true. When Asha makes a selfless wish, she is heard by a little star with boundless energy. Together with him, Asha bravely stands up to the arbitrariness of King Magnifico to save Rosas.

WOW! That background is so lovely and detailed that it reminds me of old-school Disney. I can see why the characters and the way they're designed and animated may take getting used to for some; but for me I'm happy we're going in this direction quite frankly.Farerb wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 11:18 am New image:

Obviously, but a movie should look good and from the trailers and pictures the backgrounds look very Disney Junior Original ShowD23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 4:24 pmDoesn’t mean the movie won’t be good, when it’s said six times to be a genuinely great movie.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 3:09 pm That animation style looks so ugly, I hate it so much
And I think I will still hate it when I watch the movie, critics said Elemental looked visually great but to me it was also ugly

You're totally right that most disney princesses have been exploited in their movies, what I meant is a normal job.carolinakid wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:47 pm I don’t think any princess or Disney heroine worked harder than Snow White or Cinderella as abused scullery maids.
I couldn’t have done it.... certainly not as cheerily and with such kindness and good will.
Aurora is also shown doing housework (dusting and sweeping) and food gathering (berry picking), although under much happier circumstances living with her 3 beloved aunts.
Did any Disney Princess really sit around doing nothing but look beautiful ? I don’t think so...
Maybe one could argue Ariel or Jasmine... but even then, I’m not certain...
I thought the same thing. He has a cape, too, so maybe we will get a recreation of the famous animation descending the staircase.Musical Master wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:20 pm King Magnifico having a secret lab with a dark spell-book is giving me Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs vibes. Maybe the reference is intentional.
I think it's the same purple dress; it just looks a bit different in Lego form. As for Magnifico's hair, perhaps it looks a little brownish here, but I'd say it's still more grey than brown.blackcauldron85 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:34 pm We haven't seen that dress Lego Asha is wearing already, have we? And Lego Magnifico has brown hair?
You're right about Snow White and Cinderella. I thought of mentioning them too, but wasn't sure if they counted as regular jobs since they don't get a salary, etc. Anyway, it wasn't my intention to criticize the Disney princesses for that or say they're lazy. I think most Disney protagonists don't have jobs simply because it's easier for them storywise to embark on an adventure if they don't have that kind of restriction. Also, some of them are kids or animals and others still quite young.carolinakid wrote: ↑Tue Sep 05, 2023 11:47 pm I don’t think any princess or Disney heroine worked harder than Snow White or Cinderella as abused scullery maids.

Yes, it's curious.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 3:40 am Btw how curious that the ones with real normal jobs (Cinderella was basically a slave) are black, I'm not against that since I like them having jobs but seems like it's not a coincidence
I bet it is. And I wouldn't be surprised if they included that reference you mentioned, UmbrellaFish. I think there'll probably also be some nod to Aladdin in the marketplace scenes.Musical Master wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 1:20 pm King Magnifico having a secret lab with a dark spell-book is giving me Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs vibes. It's not curious, if you think about it. The two Black princesses were created very recently and them having jobs was a clear response to feminist critiques that Disney heroines have no career goals and only want to get married.D82 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 7:12 pmYes, it's curious.Pokenonbinary wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 3:40 amBtw how curious that the ones with real normal jobs (Cinderella was basically a slave) are black, I'm not against that since I like them having jobs but seems like it's not a coincidence.
