Poody, in white: Sorry, how the hell is a TV-series plot where nothing bad happens, we don't have a very good villain, and Ariel sings one okay song, anywhere near as good as Cinderella III with the twisting, exciting movie plot, lots of bad, interesting things happen, and we have a great villain with added power, and Cinderella sings a pretty song? Make sure you don't just love this sequel because you love The Little Mermaid so much. Write back in white.
Well.....
To me, there's things I liked more about Cindy III (the storyline, the ending) and there were things I liked more about Mermaid III (the animation, the opening)... and what not. Of course, I have seen Cindy III about three times so I'll have to wait til this DVD comes out so I can watch it at home.
The first half of the movie is really good, the second half not as much.... There was one part in the middle with the music box that did get me a little teary eyed....
and to add I am a big fan of Cinderella also.... and I love the 3rd movie. Yes, I even enjoy Cindy II.... *hides*

Thanks for the review, Poody! I still can't wait for it now

.
But...
I'm verrry disappointed that Marina isn't Ursula. I wish they woul'dve cut her being Ursula out for the comic-con release and keep it secret for the DVD, but now it doesn't seem likely. Oh well...bye Ursula, at least you're awesome in TLM!

i think.....
Ursula might have been in their original idea, since some of the outfits Marina wears look similar to Ursula's concept art (as someone previously posted). There's also some pretty funny scenes that make references to the original film. Even the little kids in the audience were crackin' up!

Is Ariel's mom in a lot of the film or just the beginning
And does she sing?

She's in the opening scenes and a short scene in the middle. She does sing, but it's a pretty short lullaby. To my surprise, she isn't voiced by Jodi Benson! Or at least, she didn't sound like it. Hell, Jodi's great so maybe she changed her voice.

Atlantis, hey, Poody's complaints of the film were the opposite (as in praise) of things in Cinderella 3. When you compare the two, and say the one didn't have the same good things the other one had...yet you say they are as good as each other...?!
Poody, after DisneyToon Studios worked years and years and Cinderella III was there finest work after all the practice and experience before, matching some animation almost exactly to some original scenes, and then you say you liked the out-sourced over-shaded to make up for the shoddiness animation of this sequel more. Well I didn't know strong openings and animation made a film as good as one with strong plot all the way through and a strong climax and strong animation.
By the way, I like you Poody, and your posts, and what you for us, in case it didn't sound like it from my defending of a film people worked their asses off on compared to a film that sounds worse than a TV episode. Even the series had (in white:)Ariel's growing love of humans, and Ursula!

Poody, thank you so much for reporting back to us. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. I’m glad you, and the audience enjoyed the film. I have a few questions, if you wouldn’t mind answering them:
- Is Ursula referenced or mentioned at all In the film?
- Do we get any explanation for the eels, or do they just do Marina’s bidding and get defeated?
- Is Prince Eric in the film?
Disney Duster wrote:Disney Villain, people have noticed those eels near the purple mermaid villainess before. Also, previously you said the film takes place 13 years later, but in both books it says the film takes place ten years later. 10 years after Ariel is a piano-playing toddler.
I apologize if that reference to that specific image has been made before. I read the forums several times a day, and I try to keep up with everything. I would not have posted the image if I knew someone else already had made the reference to that specific image. I knew about the eels from the DVD cover, but that specific image from the Japan boxed set showed Flotsam and Jetsam not just random eels. Regarding the timeline, thank you for the clarification but I already knew that. I must have made a few typos in my other posts.
Regarding Cinderella III, although that was a great sequel, from what I’ve seen and read this film, in my opinion seems much better. Now I am not an Ariel fanatic, I am a much bigger Cinderella fan than I am an Ariel fan. I will wait until I view the film before I pass any additional judgments.

It's all good. Believe me, I was praising Cinderella III when it was released. I wasn't dissing it or anything. I just think it was good, for a sequel.... as was Cinderella III. Just wait til you all see it yourself to decide.
Oh I donno if I mentioned....
There was no mention of humans film, other than when they are slightly shown in the first scenes.... hmmm and maybe Triton said one line after those scenes.[/quote]

I can answer all you questions with a simple.....
No!
Nothing about Ursula.....
I don't recall any mention of why she had the eels. She just called them her "babies" and talked about how cute they were...
They do look a lot different Ursula's eels.
Nope, no Eric! Though there is a hot mer-boy in it....

Poody, just wanted to thank you so much for everything you've shared. Although I am a little disappointed, I know I'll love TLM3 no matter what. Now for the bigger question, would you still buy it when it comes out?
I just want to know three more things... (highlight to read) what do the eels have to do with Marina? Does she just keep them as pets and that's that? What about her magic? Also, what's so special about the place where "there's more [...] than meets the eye"? Lastly, was the mermaid who jumped out of the water Ariel?
Any answers you'd be willing to share would be great. I hope you had fun!

Disney Villain, I wasn't saying talking about that picture was bothersome, just explaining that other peopel did in fact see it, since you were pointing it out. Athena still seems to be the only thing good about this movie that could have anything over Cinderella III, but it's only one thing, and just in the beginning. But I will wait and see.
Poody, well, I will have to see the film, perhaps watch that with Cinderella III to compare! The whole Athena thing is the best thing, and to be honest it is one pretty good thing the film has going for it. The more questions you answer...the more dissapointing it sounds!
Vermin Friends, how'd you get your name?

Ok well....
They're pretty much just her pets. You see her and her uhh.... green mantus friend feeding them through out. Her magic... hmm, actually she uses no magic! and the "special place".... It's the place where the music box from the beginning of the film is at. Sebastian either put it there, or just knows it's there.
Oh as for your "bigger" question.... So totally buying it when the DVD comes out! And watching it again...

Ahh, sorry about asking the first question again. There's so many blanked out posts here that I didn't see that
Disney Villain had already asked about it. Thanks for answering, anyway!
Also,
no magic? How does she change her clothes during "Just One Mistake"? And about
the "special place" I had a feeling it was about that. Hmm...
Well, thanks so much for answering all of our questions! And I'm so glad to hear that you liked it.

You're all very welcome.... I'm surprised no one else that was at the viewing posts here!

or at least hasn't yet.
Anyway.....
She just changes into a bunch of different outfits randomly. There's some funny scenes..... here's another big spoiler..... She's bald!
She has a larg wig collection!

Thanks for the further info, Poody!
Few more questions:
1. If you've watched the "Marina Concept Art Scene" where she changes into the different outfits, is it any different from that or is it pretty much the same?
2. What references were made to the first film that made people laugh?
3. Is there a song at the end credits? And how does it end? (Last shot/final dialogue)
4. How does "The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning" title show up on the screen?
Thanks again!
