Take a look at any of Luke's articles. There is an opportunity to "like", "tweet", and "share" it. Huh. Maybe spreading the word would do some good, don't you think?
We are already doing that. And we support UD using the links here to buy stuff online. But apparently that's not enough. What else is there for us to do?
Perhaps if Luke would care to tell us what will happen to the forum in case the site closes (if the forum is going to close too and when; or if he's planning to sell or whether he'll keep the forum alive despite being unable to write reviews professionally anymore etc) we wouldn't feel this type of uncertainty and we wouldn't be panicking to find a new forum before this one closes.

I don't want to come across as being over-the-top negative right now, and if you want to create your own Disney community, that is your right, freedom, and whatever else. But for those of us, for whom this Google penalty is a very real part of life, I find this thread to be very insulting.
I am both saddened and confused to hear you are insulted. This was never an intention of mine. As I have said
numerous times, the creation of the other community was never intended to create a separation between DVDizzy. Quite the opposite, actually. I don't care if anyone EVER uses it as long as this site stays functioning.
However, from the articles I have read (yes, I've read them all and 'liked' the site on facebook, and spread the site as best I could.. but I don't see how that will be too much help in the long run), Luke isn't too confident that the site will be able to remain open. In other words, there is still a relatively good probability (unless something has changed) that we may not be able to save this site. The sole purpose of Disney Mania is in the event that UD is lost, we as a community will not also be lost. I would have thought that the administration could understand and appreciate that?
The point is, no matter WHAT we do, we may not be able to prevent the site from closing. So Disney Mania is there
just in case. Its a safety measure and nothing more than that.
Why exactly do you find it so insulting again? You think that because a safety measure has been put into place, we do not also care about the future site? If this is the case, please know you are quite wrong. As I have stated previously, I want more than anything for this site to continue. But the fact is, we don't really know what will happen...
EDIT: Sotiris hit the nail on the head..

What a fucking insulting and condescending thing to say! It's not OUR fucking fault that Google one day just decided: "oh, you know what, we're going to kick DVDizzy out of the first five pages of search results"! We always supported the site. We even came up with dozens of suggestions for solving the problems with Google. Enigmawing and her husband even offered their expertise for FREE! And what do you do? Imply that the site is going under because WE didn't put enough energy in it?! Where do you find the NERVE to say something ridiculous like that? If you want to make even more members leave, continue this way! Ban me again if you want, but that was a very vile thing to say.
We know it's coming to an end and we try to create a new forum. Do we have your permission?! Or can't we keep in touch because you hold us responsible instead of Google?!

I find your reaction very insulting, as I already explained above. To even question our dedication to DVDizzy and Luke is appalling. It just shows how far detached you are from us and our feelings on this site closing. And let's get real here, pinkrenata: liking and tweeting and sharing this site isn't going to move it back to the top of page 1 of Google's search results. You know that as well as we do. Yet you want us to feel GUILTY over something we have no influence over, just because we want to keep in touch with each other?! Wasn't that what this forum was created for?! You're going to begrudge that now? "Huh." Keep your condescending crap to yourself. Or send it to Google, which actually DESERVES it.

I see where pinkrenata is coming from, and I have a feeling not a lot of us truly know how much this Matt Cutts of Google (or as I nicknamed him Matt Butts

) 3 ring circus is having a very stressful for the the mods and Luke and the reviewers.
I think this thread is just a harsh vision of the end is coming and has everyone on pins and needles. I'll join this new site IF this current one goes due to Googleass Matt Butts. Meanwhile, let's tweet @mattcutts on twitter. Tweet and tweet and Tweet to him....that's all we can do right now...and share links and all...
I think pinkrenata is just very very stressed, given the situation at hand.
There's a saying I heard once..... When things fall apart...panic ensues.

Goliath, please drop the language. Maybe this is indicative of your not getting out of the house very often, but that sort of thing is not widely accepted in a polite and mature atmosphere. I also find it hard to believe that you are so very supportive of Luke when you admit in other threads that you don't have the time to read his "novels" pertaining to site issues.
Those of you who have responded to my post, please go back and note that I never pointed any fingers and never blamed anyone. What motive would I have for that? The point that many people are not understanding is that what
www.dvdizzy.com needs is more new visitors to make up for those who are not finding the site via Google. Will you bring more people to the site by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter? Maybe. How about if you share our articles? It's still a long shot, but worth trying. How about your friends who aren't so crazy about Disney? Make sure you're linking to more than just our Disney-related news. Also make sure that you are not only entering our contests yourselves, but that you are letting friends know about them as well. Let people know why you've chosen to limit your use of Google as a search engine. This is what the site needs right now and this is what will make us stronger as a community -- not a cheap, alternative message board.
Just one more thing to say: how many people have actually taken the time to contact Luke directly? His e-mail address is pretty easy to find.
Once again, I'm not trying to start an argument, even though it might appear that way to some. I am just telling you what I am observing and, frankly, I am much closer to the situation.

Yeah...I've talked to Luke through email a lot over during this whole insane google goof ordeal. I send him emails of not to give up. I think also if we all emailed Luke, it would boost his confidence. his email...well i'll post it here, though if a mod wants to remove it i'll leave it up to them. We all need to unite, not panic. To put out a fire, you don't use more flames....
his email is

@ pinkrenata: I'll drop the language, if you drop the attitude. Deal?
You choose your words very well. You knew perfectly well what kind of reaction they would trigger. You were purposefully trying to imply that it's *our* fault that DVDizzy has sunk to page 5 of Google's search results --those of us in this thread who want to preserve a community that is being threatened by something we have no control over!
To say you didn't mean to imply that is disingenuous to say the least. Stop being hypocritical. Either stand by your false accusations or withdraw them. But don't make me the focus of attention with your pathetic personal attacks. You choose to write a post that is hostile and offensive to long-time members who've done everything they could to hand suggestions, tips and help to Luke to save the site.
And how superficial that you would measure somebody's support of the site by the time they have to read 5-page long announcements about a 'Sitepocalypse'. I'm sorry I have a job and a life and other things to do. If that disqualifies me as a supporter of the site in your narrow point of view: hey, that's too bad. Believe what you want to believe.
Fact is, you got help offered from people who could help you with the site, and more than once, and you didn't take it because you didn't want 'outsiders' in your clique. Again: fine, your decision. But may I in turn suggest you come down from your high horse and thank all the members who have done anything they could to support the site, instead of blaming them and trying to shame into setting up a back-up forum to keep in contact?
pinkrenata wrote:This is what the site needs right now and this is what will make us stronger as a community -- not a cheap, alternative message board.
And this vile, VILE remark just shows you don't give a SHIT about 'us as a community'. Otherwise you wouldn't have made such a nasty remark. Shame on you for treating forum members like dirt.

Goliath usually asked for someone explain what's covered in those posts in a nutshell because his job keeps him awfully busy. He's interested in what's going on so if he needs short summaries to help him keep up with the rest of us, he shouldn't be made to feel ashamed asking for them.

I am going to step in here to diffuse this situation. This debate is obviously going nowhere, as both sides are too involved to be impartial. At this point, this thread is only creating hostility for the site in general, therefore I am going to close it permanently.
I think it is best for the discussion of the newly created forum to continue off this forum. Perhaps the other forum or the chat room would be better suited for this topic.
