I don't think they meant that she grew up
without love, it might just be a bad summary.

Yes, I think they were just trying to get the point across I feel.
Disney Duster, I think you are being very harsh about this movie when nobody has seen it yet, and from the people who have seen it, the reviews were positive. You are always one to reserve judgement until you have weighed up all the pros and cons, but you go all out for thinking this movie will suck. I mean, Cinderella: Twist in Time, sounded just dreadful to me in theory (how DARE Disney almost erase a classic?!), but looking at the finished product, it was fantastic for a sequel. I just wish you would give this movie some hope. I mean, I know I can't force you or anything ..

.. but it would be cool if you had an open mind.
I mean, goodness, just think about it .. .. we finially know what happened to a Disney character's mother! Don't you guys just find that in itself thrilling? The story doesnt sound the most stimulating, and i still think they are over-simplifiing it, but we are going to find out a Disney Princesses history! That fact alone will make this movie for me I feel.
I dont mean to sound rude
Disney Duster, I really don't. It's just how I feel.

"The new film introduces audiences to the very young Ariel who shares a love of music with her entire family, including her mother, Queen Athena. When the Queen is tragically lost to marauding pirates, King Triton, in grief, forever bans music beneath the seven seas. Little Ariel is left to grow up
without love or music.
Anyway, Atlantica, you made me look at how I felt about Cinderella. Admittedly, the stepmother taking the wand and changing the story is something really cool to me, just like meeting Ariel's mother and learning a princess' beginning is cool to you. However, it is just a fact that a story where the villain has magical power to change the whole story and we see what a heroine will do when so much has changed and she has to be more active is more dramatic and interesting than a girl who has disobeyed her father before and is just doing it again by going to a music club.
Many of you are saying it's just a streamlining of the plot and when we watch the movie it'll be way better, but Cinderella's plot turned out to be as dramatic and cool as it sounded from the beginning, there were no hidden plot points people had to hope for to make it better. And while Cinderella's sequel tried to be more adventurous and have more at stake than the original, Ariel's sequel seems to be taking a step back in the compelling and thrilling departments.
I already said the part about Ariel's mother is very cool, but that's it. The main plot of the story I find very lame, and the sneak peek has not convinced me. And if you can talk about how great you think this will be before you see it, I want to be able to talk about how bad I think this will be before I see it. I will definately give the movie a chance, and I might be way wrong, so don't worry Atlantica, I'm not saying the movie sucks as my final judgement. But even the animation...ugh, I don't care what anyone says, people who actually worked in and studied animation agree with me that's it's bad and not as good as Cinderella III's.
I hope you and I are still cool, Atlantica, I'm your forum friend forever. I know that Ariel means a lot to you and you don't want her sequel to be bad, but that's just it: don't you want the best for your favorite princess? And remember the original Ariel (and TV series Ariel) is still the original, the one you love.

Well, I think part of the problem is that you're constantly comparing it to
Twist in Time. Sure,
Twist in Time is one of Disney's best sequels (though I keep wondering why, from Disney's track record, that's a crown to be proud of), but this is about
Ariel's Beginning. Everyone knows
Return to the Sea sucked, but, if the preview audiences that were mentioned have any basis, this one could actually turn out to be a
decent prequel at any rate.
there were no hidden plot points people had to hope for to make it better.
That's because
Twist in Time had no reason to hide anything as it was not a prequel; whereas, if my personal theories were revealed early on, this entire movie would be given away right from beginning.

I think Atlantica,Vermin Friends and MerXAN are rigth and it's just a bad summary but if Ariel will grow without music or love then I agree with Disney Duster, this is way too much-his wife died and he ruins his daughters's lives? for years??? why he dosn't move on? this is silly

.
I agree with Atlantica, when I first heard the Cinderella III plot my first thought was "Why she dosn't leave Cinderella alone? how can Disney erase her happily ever after? maybe villains fans can do that but not Disney" and I think Cinderella was heroinc enough in the first film (I also think Snow White and Aurora are heroinc),maybe she's stronger but still.
Anyway here's new Ariel's Sisters dolls for Ariel's Beginning from Simba Toys!:

This is looks like a lot like the Sea Friends dolls they made for The Little Mermaid PE,but those are better,Attina and Andrina looks bad here,Ariel,Aquata and Adella are the best

Is it just me, or do all of those dolls look cross-eyed? Maybe there's a lot of inbreeding going on under the sea
Anyway, I'm still really curious about what we've been told so far from this summary. I hope this may shape up to be just as good or better than Cinderella 3.

Thanks!
It's actually a tag from a merchandise box from a Prince Phillip doll. Recently, I've seen Disney Store come out with dolls of the princes, like Phillip, Eric, Beast, Aladdin, and Charming. Finding Phillip merchandise is so rare for me I had to break down and buy one.

You're wellcme

That's neat

Aurora is on the tag, too? I didn't knew there's Princes dolls thought the Disney Princess dolls (the Simba Toys ones for exmaple) have Princes dolls, check the Sleeping Beauty PE thread.

Those dolls are so ugly.....

I hate crack baby Disney dolls. I hope they make regular "Barbie-style" dolls of all the sisters!

Why does Attina have red hair?

I thought the same exact thing, Merboy! Apparently whoever designed the dolls really hasn't seen the movie much. And I wonder why Attina doesn't have her spiky Statue of Liberty-like headress either.
Arielsprince, Aurora isn't on the tag, it's just that headshot of Phillip. Apparently the Disney Store musn't have released them that too long ago since the clerk mentioned to me that the Prince and Princess dolls there were fairly new. Either way, I'm just happy I finally got myself a Phillip figure.

When I first read the summary, I thought they meant "without love FOR music. Or at least that's how it came across to me at first, then I read the replies and it could go either way......but I sort of agree with what Disney Duster's been saying.

OK, I see what you are saying
Disney Duster. There is no point responding in an argumentative way, as we are both right in our own ways. Just needed to get what I thought across. And I am still your forum friend of course!
I've got a bit more info on the movie from my local Disney store, and I thought you guys would like to know about it!
*Ariel's Beginning is going to have MASSIVE publicity; the guy said it would be more so than any of the other Disney sequels so far.
*It's going to be on the scale of TinkerBell's promotion which is going to be massive apparantly.
*The guy said that through merchandise sales and public interest, Ariel is top of the children's lists right now, the most in demand. Thats why she is being more of a front-runner on Princess stuff then she has been before. He said there will be an 'Ariel Explosion' in the late Summer.
*The UK are getting the DVD early September, just as they did with Return To The Sea.
*New products include Ariel and her Sisters, Globes (both mini and big £65 ones), stationary, clothing, shoes, summer beach stuff (as usual), pillows, dolls, toys. He said it would be almost everything you could think of.
*There was an older lady at the store, and she was being really nice in talking about AB to me, and she said that she was working in a Disney Store when they has the rerelease in 1997, and she said it would be on par with that. She thinks this is Ariel's 'bow out' in having her own movies. Which I presume she ment that there are no more sequels coming. I asked her about Enchanted Tales, and she said she knew that Cinderella is being featured soon, as they are getting a bunch of new Cinderella stuff.
So, what do you guys think of that then! Hope it helps with some info. Please say if I havnt been clear on anything.

I would say very good work Atlantica, I never would have thought to do that (once I asked if you could pre-order Cinderella III, that was it). I think Ariel has a lot out right now, but one thing that will be interesting is to see how she does with Aurora's promotion, because you know Aurora needs it as an underappreciated princess and her Platinum's coming out in Fall. But Ariel is for Summer, so maybe we won't see a big princess merchandise war. Glad to hear Cinderella's getting more stuff...thanks!
