See, that's the illusion behind Widescreen cropping. The picture often fits so well, you feel like nothing was cut off. But overall, Yes! The picture of 101 matted looks really good. To see what it looks like, I uploaded a video a long time ago that shows how 101 Dalmatians looks like matted to a 1.85:1 Aspect Ratio, with some music remastering as well. Take a look:
101 Dalmatians - Remastered in Widescreen and in Music
101 looked amazing in widescreen, I hope this what the PE will look like.
Question though, When Curella is driving runs of the bridge, she drives down into a ditch is that real snow they added or something like it? cause it was mushy looking
Thanks! And it's possible that part was rotoscoped - or was paid
REALLY close attention to when animating.

I know they took something like xerox photos of the cars and inked them in for the car chase so they would look realistic, so they probably did something similar with the snow.

101 was the first Disney movie to use the Xeroxing process, so your probably right.

I think he
IS right. The Xerox made animating objects - like those cars - a bit easier. But it still took good effort to make it seem realistic.

My DVD player has a feature that allows you to 16x9 matte 1.33:1 movies... So I did that will my Limited Issue 101 Dalmatians and most of it looks great in widescreen ! There were only a couple of scenes where animation got a little too close to the cropping for comfort, but for the most part, it looks great.
I did the same thing with Pinocchio and I really hope they don't matte it for it's Platinum release... so many instances where things were nearly completely cut off... Figaro was completely cut out of a few scenes and a lot of others where ridiculously close to chopping off important animation... So I really hope they just stick with the OAR and don't try matting it just because of the growing popularity in widescreen televisions...
Don't get me wrong, I am the number one advocate for widescreen pictures... but Pinocchio was never meant to be widescreen and matting it is a terrible decision.
I haven't tried it with any of the other titles yet... Sword and the Stone will I'm sure be released in widescreen, but I think it was one of the films that was always intended to be shown widescreen, so I'm sure it won't be much of a problem there...
I will check out the other 1.33:1 films soon and let you know how they look. I would take screen shots if I could... but I don't really know how haha... So I will try and figure it out and post if I can !

They won't matte "Pinocchio", don't worry.

Right.
Pinocchio is a 1940 film, more than decade before they oficially began filming in Widescreen.

Thanks for the link, steven132. The review thankfully confirms the presence of art galleries, which I was worried wouldn't show up.
And, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I was tickled by the fact that the image of Cruella in the review, which normally shows her with a cigarette holder clasped between her fingertips, rather conspicuously removes the offending object, while forgetting about the lighter in her other hand.

Sorry it took so long for me to upload the pictures of the disc art. Also, I took many pictures of the spine picture, but in every picture, there was a glare over Pongo...sorry!

Thanks Amy, I'm so glad that they went back to the normal disc art style

Yeah, thank's Amy. I just noticed that they went back to the old disc art. I'm not the only one who thinks they changed it because mommies and kiddies thought the disc art was ugly, am I?

That, or they were getting confused

Yeah, I can imagine it now...
"Dur, Honey! This disc is different!"
"Duh, it's one of those Blu-Ray discs. Put it on the projector."
"Um... Nothing happening honey."
"Oooh! I'm SO confused!"
"Yeah, we better call Disney and tell them we're confused!"
And in some way, those soccer moms and fathers helped us out on this one. Thanks!
