What makes you say her radio show hasn't been successful? Have you seen reports?

I thought someone right here said it was canceled because of poor ratings.

Oh, HAPPY DAY! I love Whoopi! She is the one I've been pulling for. I am very excited about this news, and I hope that she accepts. She better!
As for Sherri Shepherd, I have no idea who she is, off-hand. I guess I need to Google her.

She is a comedian/comedienne. And I believe she was on a black show. Either The Parkers, Moesha, or something equally big that simply escapes me. Or she could be from Becker... not sure. I'll check. Be right back.

Her first big thing was being something of a regular on Suddenly Susan. Then she did The Jamie Foxx Show. Then she became a regular on Less Than Perfect. And did some recurring spots on Everybody Loves Raymond. But she's definitely one of those faces and voices that everyone remembers once they've seen her. I knew exactly who she was when AWU said her name. Once you've seen her, she'll be the first person you think of when you hear the name Sherri.
Just tried looking for a YouTube clip of her... Crappy selection. But here's the best I think I could find. Her on Ellen, they're at Universal Studios somewhere:

Funny thing is, I searched Google, looked at some pictures, read her resume, and realized I have never seen her in my life. All of the things she's been in, I have never watched. She also looks a little like Star Jones, before Star "lost" the weight.
Anyway, I'm sure she'll do just fine. I read that she has actually been a guest host on The View several times.

OMG I love Sherri! She actually was just guest-hosting today when John Travolta and Queen Latifah came in.

I agree. Whoopi is an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy winning artist that deserves better than being on a daytime talk show. But, like Aaron said earlier, the movie roles haven't been coming in, so maybe this is a better choice for her.
As far as Sherri goes, I think it's a great choice. She's funny, fresh and can handle herself in tough situations. Although I do think that with Whoopi, Sherri and Joy all on the panel it'll be a lot of former comedians trying to get the laughs at the same time, which can get annoying.

Wait a second... Doesn't
Ellen have a daytime talk show?

Ooh, I didn't think about that.

Joy was once a comedian? I did not know this. It's true, she's not very funny. And she seemed to have more sass than Rosie did. Was less serious in tone about the issues. But still, I thought she was... Well, I didn't know what she was. But I don't think she's very funny. We'll see about Whoopi and Sherri though. I haven't seen much of Sherri's comedy acts. Actually, I haven't seen anything of Sherri's comedy. But her shows were a bit dull. Hopefully, she'll be funny here.
That's another reason I think this might be a bad idea for Whoopi. She's going to have to be a bigger personality than Sherri. But of course, if she can hold her own with Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, I think she'll be able to handle this show. I just...can't really believe that she would want the job. As for the movie roles, she's always had trouble with that. But, she stuck around somehow. Doing a lot of stuff for TV, that is. A
lot of stuff for TV. Oh yeah, Hollywood Squares took up a lot of her time. I'm sure it paid pretty well too.

they should just go for Kathy Griffin, that should spice the show up.

I have to say now that I think The View would actually be a step down for Kathy as well. It's going to take awhile for that show to get any cred, especially with Rosie gone. But all she was getting was nasty press and spineless attacks from idiots, so it's probably better that she's gone. And I really think Sherri will be enough to give that show some real earthiness. I also don't think Kathy's humor would often be that favorable with the View's audience. Plus, she curses quite a bit.

nah, Kathy is hysterical. Love her.
but yeah, maybe she should just stay right where she is on the D-list and be her wacky self. I love how she trashes celebrities and just says what everyone's thinking.

I'm bummed Kathy isnt doing it. But she does haver her own series... (that is only on for 6 episodes every summer

)
I do enjoy Sherri though, so I'm glad she'll be on.
As for Whoopi, I refused to watch The View after Rosie left, so I never saw any of the episodes she was in. But I love her and I'm sure she'll be a great addition.

Yep Aaron, I've heard it on "Board Reflections" last week where Allan Sniffen was talking about Whoopi Goldberg wasn't successful on WKTU, but the NYC Arbitrons came out a week ago that Whoopi's show on WKTU are not that strong in mornings, but it did really poor in New York City during the rest of the morning.
Remember a year ago, I sent you an big MP3 file of Whoopi's first day on the air on WKTU? I know what you're talking about.
I hope Whoopi is going to do "The View" i nthe fall. I saw it on WABC-TV's "Eyewitness News" an hour ago. Good luck to her.!

So did anyone else catch The View today to see Whoopi's first day as a fulltime moderator?
I completely forgot all about it 'til it was too late.

Well, she started off on the wrong foot, defending Michael Vick's actions saying it was his "culture" being from "the south". B.S.
I liked Whoopi for a long time, now I have serious doubts about her. She stereotyped her own race, the dumb twit.

No big surprise here, but excellent choice nonetheless! Sherri Shepherd will officially be joining The View:
