I'm not sure, but I think the first Disney DVD I purchased was the Toy Story 1 & 2 white box 2 disc set.....either that or Snow White. It's been a good run so far too, I'm enjoying it!

I think the first Disney DVD i bought was the 2-disc Coll. Edition of Beauty and The Beast at the local Blockbuster.... The best Disney release back then - and STILL the best Disney release today...

Since I was about three years old I had somehow come to own most of them on video, so for a while I didn't get any Disney DVDs. I had wanted to get the Snow White DVD, but missed the chance.
The first one I bought was the 3 disc Fantasia/Fantasia 2000/Fantasia Legacy box set, which I loved, but I didn't get anything else for a while. Then in early 2006 I was in a second-hand DVD shop, where the Aladdin Special Edition was for sale for a very low price, so I bought it. I was really impressed by the special features on it, and I continued to buy more of the extra-heavy DVDs. So I think my entire collection came in this order:
Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 (3 Discs)
Aladdin (2 Discs) - second hand
Alice in Wonderland (unfortunately, only the 1 Disc version)
Bambi (2 Discs)
Sleeping Beauty (2 Discs) - second hand
Lady and the Tramp (2 Discs)
Cinderella (2 Discs)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (2 Discs, with art booklet and box) - second hand
Mulan (2 Discs)
Pocahontas (2 Discs)
The Emperor's New Groove (2 Discs) - second hand
The Little Mermaid (2 Discs)
Tarzan (2 Discs)

I'm working on getting hold of the 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Lion King' 2 disc sets, and will of course get Peter Pan when it comes out.
Of all of them so far Aladdin and Snow White were the most comprehensive. I also particularly liked Bambi and Cinderella, which had the most interesting special features.
As I said, since I have quite a few (now rather old) videos of the classics, I'm able to limit myself to the extra-heavy editions. I live in England, so all my DVDs are Region 2 (except for my 2 Disc 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and the four Looney Tunes DVD box sets).

Pinocchio was my first official Disney DVD. Was it released in late 1999 or 2000 I forget? anyway it was the first Disney put out there so why not make it my first

I haven't really kept track of these things but as far as I can remember it was Beauty & The Beast PE. That, Atlantis, or Black Cauldron. Of course, this is not counting releases from companies owned by Disney, such as Touchstone, etc.

November 9th, 1999 with Mulan Limited Edition DVD. Then bought all of the other LE soon after.

My first Disney DVD was Robin Hood. Odd choice, I know. Since then my collection has grown and I'm working on getting the first 32 of the 'animated classics', i.e. up to and including The Lion King. So far I have 23 of them, with another two in the post as we speak to take me up to 25.

I have a further 5 on VHS (Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations, Fox and the Hound, Aristocats, and Oliver & Company) but I'll probably get them on DVD too eventually for the sake of completion, but that still leaves me needing two more: Fantasia and Make Mine Music.

Fantasia seems to cost an absolute bomb on eBay and you just can't get MMM on region 2 dvd which is a bit annoying to be honest. Hopefully we'll get it eventually.

MMM is available in Region2!! It was just released in Denmark.

I can't really keep track of when I was a kid and my parents bought them for me, but...

The Disney Treasures (specifically Chron Donald I, Mickey Mouse in Living Color II, and Pluto I) about 2-3 years ago were my first Disney dvds and started my renewed obsession.

More recently, last year I bought Cinderella and I have been buying more and more dvds since.

My Very first Animated classic Disney Dvd i purchased was the very first one they released
back in 1999

I remember how excited i was when they first announced that first wave of Ltd edition dvds back then and how they would be releaseing those first ones in quick succesion.

as for non animated disney dvd release, i cant remember but ive been collecting dvds from all of the studios since the format first debuted back 1997.

I still even now have that first generation dvd player i bought in 1997, and it still works even though i hardly ever use it. as i have upgraded to several different dvd players, and then upgraded to HD-DVD when that debuted late last spring.
