Okay, this is odd. Someone on HomeTheaterForum posted this image about a 3-disc set for the film (I'm not putting img tags because the pic's huge):
http://img481.imageshack.us/img481/4066/potcrn6.jpg
With the lack of deleted scenes on the 2-disc, I was expecting a re-release. Some things baffle me, though:
1. The cover art is basically the teaser poster for the first film. There's not even a subtitle for Dead Man's Chest.
2. The disc art (which matches the cover art) looks radically different from the first two.
3. It only lists the features that will be on the 2-disc and deliberately avoids mentioning any exclusive third disc supplements.
This looks too good to be a fan's photoshop job, but the guy from HomeTheaterForum failed to provide a source for this image, and the descrepancies mentioned above make me suspicious. I'm going to still cautiously plan on getting the 2-disc for Christmas until I find out more info on this.

That's weird.... crap I just got the regular edition. Doesn't look like we're getting that here in Holland anyway. So for the real meat I'll just go for that 60-disc set I hope will be released when At World's End leaves theaters at the end of next year.

Thank you, but I think I'll be passing on both the 2-Disc Special Edition and the "3-Disc Collector's Edition" (

)
Honestly, I need to stop this addiction of impulsively purchasing every "Special Edition" of films that I enjoy. The same exact thing happened with Narnia-- I went out and bought the SE, and still I haven't even touched the second disc.
1-Disc for me!

Well Pirates has already broken records theatrically, and it looks like it could be set to do the same on DVD if its UK release is anything to go by.

Pirates 2 is fastest selling DVD ever
The Pirates of the Caribbean sequel has become the fastest selling DVD of all time, according to Walt Disney.
According to figures, nearly 1.5 million copies of the film have been sold in just one week - one in every four DVDs sold in the UK last week.
The demand for the film has been so huge that Disney has reportedly been forced to order another million copies from its production facilities.
The film company has estimated that, if sales continue at a similar rate, around 3 million copies could be sold before Christmas.

does anyone have any information on freebies that Best Buy or Circuit City may have for next week's release? I am hoping for a Lithograph at Best Buy. That and getting double points for the DVD would be nice (double points are offered for Reward Zone members on purchases of dvds, cds and video games).
Anyway, I'll buy the 2 DISC edition because I want the special features. I like behind the scenes stuff, some of it is really interesting.

from my experience with Circuit City and the Lady and the Tramp freebie, i don't trust them to have the DVD game. If I wanted that, I'd get an actual Scene It game or something instead.
I hope Best Buy has a Lithograph. I missed out on a free one they were offering to Best Buy reward zone members about two weeks ago because I didn't see my email until I turned my computer on. And that was few hours after the email was received.

At Costco on Tuesday December 5th when you buy both Robin Hood: Most Wanted Editon and POTC: DMC you save $6.
Possible prices:
Robin Hood $18.xx
POTC: DMC $22.xx
But I already got Robin Hood at Best Buy and pre-order POTC: DMC at BB also.
It seems that Robin Hood wasn't at Costco today either.

Can anyone confirm this talk of a 3 disc set? I wouldn't be surprised, since they've got a Kong 3-disc now and a Narnia 4 disc. I really don't want to double-dip, so if anyone can confirm it and a release date, please do. If a 3-disc is coming out later, I might skip buying Pirates next week and get The Gummi Bears instead.

On the front page, Luke states that Disney says the scan of the flyer for the 3-Disc set is bogus. Yeah right, Disney! Just like Disney claimed that the news of an extended edition of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was bogus! I tell you, we will see the 3-Disc set for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, next May!

Reread it, and it says that the particular scan is bogus. Disney hasn't said anything about rereleasing it or not.
Disney isn't going as far as lying, you just have to be careful what they say and not take some rumors too seriously. Remember, when rumored, the Narnia set was only to be 3 discs.

Re-read my post. I said "Disney says the scan of the flyer for the 3-Disc set is bogus". I am saying that I don't believe them. Sure, the flyer may be bogus, but, I bet money it is based in truth, and Disney doesn't want this information to come out, right before they are preparing to release it for the first time. They want to milk as much money from the consumers as they can. It's no surprise they are denying it.

Yes, I'm sure Iger is fiendishly asking his executives to deny this release and laugh as he swins in his money bin.
Disney isn't denying another edition will come, they're saying the edition shown from the flyer is fake. Which isn't surprising as I was never convinced by the cover. Something about it looked too "Microsoft Paint Job"ish.
A 3-Disc set is not unlikely, but I'm sure it'll look much different from that edition(cover art, disc art etc.). Nothing really to blame Disney on.
