Give it up, albert. We don't want to post in threads which originated 7 years ago.

It doesn't matter if you don't want to post in old threads or not. At UD, it's in the posting guidelines that it's better to bump up an old thread than to start a new one. Especially on such broad and common topics as "Favorite Disney (Insert Topic)".

I wish UD would do a new top villain/song/movie...etc. countdown list. I wasn't around when they did the last one and I would love to take part in casting a few votes!

Favorite: Lady Tremaine (the fact that she's a human being capable of doing such cruel and brutal things without the use of magic makes her truly terrifying to me), Yzma, Jafar, Ursula, Frollo, Cruella DeVil, Gaston

Underrated: Lady Tremaine, Shan Yu, Prince John, Wicked Queen

Overrated: Maleficent, Captain Hook, Hades

And I'm gonna add a category of my own :p:

 But nobody is going to do that, no matter how many times you chime into threads giving links to 7-year old threads. Everybody is always ignoring your links and are more than happy to proceed to post in the new thread that you came to disrupt, so why not knock it out instead? Nobody pays attention to that guideline anyway.

And the reasons are very simple:

1.) Some of the people on UD have been here a very long time, even when those old threads were started. They may have changed their opinions on things and don't want people to start arguing against their 7 year old opinions.

2.) A lot of people who posted in the old threads aren't here anymore, yet new people, when seeing a thread appear at the top of UD whill not check whether it was a 7-year old thread and they will begin to nswer to people who aren't here anymore.

So the guideline is stupid and it needs to go and your constant spamming of links to ancient threads is annoying.

Goliath.... while I agree with your points about why bumping ancient threads just isn't practical, and think that it is so much easier to just make new threads..... Scaps is just trying to be a responsible UDer, and follow the set guidelines. I don't see the point of this guideline, either, but it must be there for a reason. So you shouldn't be so hard on him for doing something that he feels it is his responsibility to do to uphold the rules of the forum.

Some things just aren't worth arguing about. But some people simply love to argue.

I see BOTH points. Its up to Luke and Luke alone to decide what to do about it, so quit bitching and have a little fun.

Wait.... There's two Luke(s) that are admin in this forum? I thought there was only one?

I absolutely adore Edgar from the Aristocats. He is absolutely hilarious. Sure, he may not be very imposing, but he is just so awesome.

I didn't know Escapay was a moderator?

My favorite villain easily is Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He's the only Disney-villain who truly scares me. The other ones are either too comical or over-the-top (Cruella, Medusa, Captain Hook); the products of fairytales and thus not "real" (Malificent, Medusa); or simply too dull (Edgar, Amos Slade).

But Frollo is a totally different story. He's firmly based in reality, and worse, he believes what he's doing is truly for the good of the people. He is blinded by his own misguided beliefs. During the film, he slowly begins to see he has done things wrong and asks God for forgiveness, yet he still wants to blame them on the "devil" (Esmeralda), providing him with a guide for his amoral actions again.

:o    :jawdrop:

I can't believe I ever said this. Ever
Upon re-watching The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I have seen the light and realized that Frollo is the absolute best Disney villain ever made. He is pure evil, frighteningly real, and chilling. Every single evil thing he does in this movie has probably happened in the past (i.e. burning 'witches', burning houses, drowning babies, discriminating against people who are different, etc).

My new list is:

Favourites- Frollo, Scar, Edgar, Shere-Khan, Queen of Hearts
Underrated- Madam Mim, Edgar, Bill Sikes
Overrated- Maleficant, The Evil Queen/Hag, Ursula

Having read Victor Hugo's hunchback of notre dame it's hard for me to like the disney version. It is a very sad book. It ends with Esmerelda being executed and then one year later, excavationists find the skeletons of Esmeralda with a broken neck and Quasimodo locked in an embrace. How they can turn that into a happy Disney story is beyond me.
