You have a huge Disney collection.

Thanks for the welcome and the compliments. I'm glad that I found this forum because I've been looking for a good place to discuss all things Disney for a while now.

I've always been a big Disney fan because I was practically raised on the stuff and now that I am a Dad (I have a month and a half old son), I want to be able to share these great works of entertainment with him and my other kids that will come along eventually. It's really just become a hobby of mine to collect the great Disney works. I think my wife wishes that I didn't spend so much of my play money on Disney DVDs.

I do not and will not ever own Fantasia. I watched it once and did not care for it at all. I'm not really sure why..I just didn't like it.

I might buy Fantasia when the PE comes out. It has a special place with me as it was the first Disney movie I saw and it was in a theatre and I was really young. Our class went on a field trip and saw it in the theatre.

Fantasia is one of Walt Disney best I have two DVD's of it.

welcome to UD I hope you have fun here but No Fantasia will not be put on DVD because it was changed under Walt's orders himself.

The only one I don't have is The Black Cauldron. I can't imagine a day in my life when I would choose to watch that movie over the hundreds of others I have, so I'm leaving it on the store shelves for someone to buy it who would actually watch it. And if I ever change my mind, I have it on VHS somewhere.

Yeah...there are some that I don't really want to upgrade to DVD. "Black Cauldron" is one that I'm happy to remain on VHS.

I don't own The Black Cauldron; mostly because I think it stinks.

I don't own Atlantis because I didn't enjoy it. That is a deliberate choice.
I don't own MickeyMouseClub. I have no attachment to MMC, so I decided not to get that one.

I don't own any sequel except The Rescuers Down Under (misstake),
I made up my mind that I won't supports sequels.

Also I don't own Cinderella and Song of the South on retail DVD's, but that's not my choice. (Not released yet)

Other than that, I think I'm complete!

I can't ever see buying:

The Great Mouse Detective
The Fox & The Hound
The Sword And The Stone
Hercules
The Hutchback Of Notre Dame
Treasure Planet

I can not ever feel the need to watch those movies again. If I have interest in them, I will wait until on cable.

Mulan-Already have on VHS. DVD doesn't seem too good.

Mary Poppins-Doesn't interest me.

I don't own any one disc sets because I value bonus features a lot.

The Sword in the Stone and Treasure Planet feature a fair amount of bonus features, though they're one discers.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure I replied to this old topic, but here are the DAC's I don't own (either deliberately or not)

Pinocchio - I'm waiting for the Platinum and the OOP GC is hard to find and not that good anyway.
The Package Films (Saludos Amigos/Three Caballeros/Make Mine Music/Fun and Fancy Free/Melody Time/The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad) - I'd love to have all of them, but not at the SRP they're selling for ($19.99 or $29.99). Double-feature would work here for them (SA/TC, MMM/MT, FFF/IAMT)
Cinderella - I won't have this until Tuesday
Alice in Wonderland - I just don't have it yet, though I can get it for $9.99
Lady and the Tramp - waiting for PE
Sleeping Beauty - not a priority for me to have, but if I can find a used copy in good condition for a good price, I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'll wait for the PE
101 Dalmatians - waiting for PE
The Sword in the Stone/The Black Cauldron - I'd like to see these two together as a double feature, with a bonus disc covering both movies, or at least a new single-disc SE for both.
The Jungle Book - waiting for PE, though it's not exactly a film I enjoy anyway
The Aristocats - if they ever lower the SRP or put out a better edition I'll buy it
The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under - Double feature again, because it's economic.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh - Haven't gotten around to buying it, it's somewhere in the middle of my priority list.
The Great Mouse Detective - the singledisc is okay, but it could definitely be better
The Little Mermaid - waiting for PE
The Lion King - I'm not a fan of this movie at all, so if in the offchance I feel like losing 90 minutes of my life, I'll borrow this from Kram.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - waiting for a 2-disc edition
Hercules - waiting for a better edition, though it's not a priority for me to have
Mulan - haven't bought it yet
Fantasia 2000 - wouldn't mind having the single-disc release, but it's not a priority for me to have
Lilo and Stitch - waiting for the 2-disc edition, otherwise I'll just get a multiregion player and import it.
Treasure Planet - probably will get it one day
Brother Bear - really want to get this!
Home on the Range - don't care much for this at all.

The DVDs I definitly won't own no matter what are:

Fantasia ( saw it in theaters and found it incredibly boring. My mom brother and I walked out of it cause my brother complained it was way too boring to sit through)

Fantasia 2000 ( if I didn't like the first one...I doubt I'd like this one)


The Black Cauldron ( Never even heard of it and from what I've heard from others on here I'd doubt I'd like it anyway)


Home on the Range ( Never seen it but just based on the previews I've seen I'm quite sure I'd find it dumb)


Everything else I plan on getting at some point. Still unsure of Treasure Planet and the other more recent ones though.

I don't think there is going to be a PE for sleeping beauty. Its already got a really good restoration, good bonus features. Good thing I bought it early at Costco.

In May of 2003, Disney announced they would be adding Pinocchio, Fantasia, Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty to the Platinum Collection for a total of 14 titles.

Well sleeping beauty already has a two disc set, with plenty of bonus features.

The first time I saw Fantasia on video in the early 90s I had problems with it. I had probably never seen a movie without a "story" before. For a little while I considered it basically a waste of videotape. It's possible to get over it, though. I just gave it some time. Now I think it's a great work of art.

You could reconsider your position - now or in a few years.
