Numbers don't mean anything. I have a feeling this one's here to stay for decades to come. Everything about it works perfectly. It's no surprise it's not a hit like Spidey, it doesn't have all the razzle dazzle effects. But I'm sure the second film will be accepted much more easily by the superhero public since it will be more Batman-ish with familiar villians.

well, Jack isn´t as slim as Joker must be, true but he have that face that chill you out. :P

Maybe a real mad joker but with a little funny taste, like the one of the animated series, but crazier

Exactly. Like how Fellowship of the Rings was. It had the action, but no where near the action of the following two. They had to set up the story, introduce the characters, and also help you feel emotional about them

With BB, you first had to know all the whats and whys he becomes Batman. And also, the hows. Because no matter what, Batman has and will always be, a human. He didn't come from a far off planet, he wasn't blasted with gamma rays, he wasn't born with the X gene. He is a human who has trained his body and mind to fight crime. He can still bruise, break bones, and bleed and he takes just as long as the rest of us to heal. That's what this movie showed. Especially the 1st hour.

And I love the Joker from TAS, but yeah, being aimed at the 7 and up crowd, they have to hold back on the insanity. You know, all his victims always get the antidote and NEVER die ;)

I saw it two weeks ago and loved it. Much more visceral and more intelligent than the other four Batman films - Christian Bale is the definitive Batman in my opinion. Not only does he have the looks, but he plays the tormented, ravaged soul so very well.

The only nitpick I had was the somewhat anonymous musical score by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (it needs a more stronger theme) and that the fight sequences were edited much too quickly. Other than that, a worthy addition to my DVD collection when it comes out. :)

Yeah, I do prefer Danny Elfman's Batman music. It was superior to what you said the best, an anonymous score. I can't remember ONE tune of the music. While Elfman's score was very memorable.

Indeed

Let´s hope they do better on the sequel

But then again...Who goes to see Batman for the music? ;)

no one really, but is a very important part of the scene
to excite not only the eyes but your ears makes more impressing a scene

The music worked wonders for the film IN THE FILM; not every movie needs a distinctive theme. And I think having one would be seen as trying to compete with what Elfman did, which is probably (part of) why there isn't one. And they really deserve the courtesy to have their work heard and thought of independantly from Elfman's, because again, this has no baring on that series whatsoever. If they had reused even the slightest piece of Elfman's music, as I have heard people request, precisely BECAUSE it is so memorable it would have called back memories of the previous four films, and that would have established a connection between them and made it much harder for Batman Begins to stand on its own two feet, apart from the others, as it is meant to and should.

If you put it that way is a good reason.
I mean, it shows the real deal of what is the movie and how far it can go jus for itself.
ut if they do a sequel as BB was made they would be like a remarke or something?
also, many peolpe would confuse between the connection of this movies with the original saga

I can't wait for Batman Begins to come out on DVD! Up there with Spider-Man 2 its my 2nd favorite super hero movie!

Bale lost 40 pounds to be a virtual skeleton in The Machinist, then gained back all the weight he lost plus 20 pounds of muscle when he was training for BB. And like Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, Bale signed on for three Batman movies before production even started on the first movie (Michael Caine and Gary Oldman have signed on for sequels as well).

Oh, and I saw BB again two weeks ago. Still terrific in my opinion. 8)
