Unfortunately it will probably be a good 3 more months until we know for sure what will be on the sets this year.

"Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" and "Melody" on <i>Fantasia 2000</i>. Although I guess since that's out of print, they are becoming something of a rarity now.

I've got the Fantasia Anthology and it's one of the most treasured items in my collection. But I hope the mentioned shorts are still going to be included in the "Rarities" set or whatever its name - and I'm pretty sure they will.

Latest news from Leonard is that "Disney Heroes" will be a double bill of "The Swamp Fox" and "Elfego Baca".

Now bearing in mind that there are 10 episodes of Elfego Baca and 8 episodes of The Swamp Fox, i struggle to see how both complete series' will fit onto 2 discs?!

Yes, I did mean Heroes and I emailed him. The Rareties one will be as we guessed some one off shorts.

I see that the upcoming "Timeless Tales Vol 2" will have Ferdinand the Bull. Is this short part of the Silly Symphonies? I'm just wondering where it fits in... Hiawatha, too.

If these are with the SS line, we should see them on a future SS Treasure. Otherwise, could either or both of these toons be included on the Rarities Treasure?

I don't really want to buy Timeless Tales V2, but it would be nice to have Ferdinand.

Hiawatha is a SS so would be on a 2nd SS set. However Ferdinand is not a SS so would be on a miscellaneous shorts set, possibly Disney Rareties or a follow up volume.

"Ferdinand the Bull" is part of the 2005 DVD release "The Best of the Mickey Mouse Club." But it is shown in black and white.

"The Pied Piper" is also on this Club DVD. I'd think this was a Silly Symphony.

By the way Luke, when is the review coming for "The Best of the Mickey Mouse Club" ?... I'm sure many have been eagerly anticipating.

Well, if Chronological Donald Vol 2 is covering the period 1942-1946 as reported on the news page, I guess that means we'll be getting the wartime shorts again...
Otherwise it would only have 24 shorts on it, as opposed to the usual 30-odd. Mind you, they are 24 very good shorts.

Still, it's Rarities that I'm really drooling for.

I only want the Donald sets so hopefully all the war time cartoons will be on there.

Hopefully I end up buying all four Treasures in December.

Whoa! Cober art this early! I wasn't expecting that till about September! Anyway they look good, although in all honesty, I'm sure they could have chosen a better image for the Disney Rareties dvd, I think there are other characters such as ferdinand or lambert that would have been a better selection than alice!

Hmm...you've got a point, but I have to disagree as usual, as I really love the Disney Rarities cover art, it looks so wonderfully lilac...

Perkins was Marty's manservant. Spin was the popular "down-to-earth" boy and Marty was the unpopular "stuck-up" rich kid. Marty did become more popular as he learned how to play and work with the others.

It is rather disappointing that only 32 or so Donald Duck cartoons will be on this Volume 2, especially since 8 of those will be double-dipped from the On The Front Lines DVD set. Considering the double-dipping, it would have been fairer to include the additional 8 cartoons from 1947. It would appear that there will eventually be 4 volumes of Donald Duck cartoons, instead of 3 volumes.

It is also disappointing that the Disney Rarities will stop with the 60s shorts. I was hoping some of the 70s, 80s, 90s, and more recent shorts would be included. Maybe they will be included in a second volume set within a few years. Maybe there will be a surprise Easter Egg or two with some of the more modern shorts included, although that is a faint hope. I don't care much for the Alice Comedies but I much look foward to owning the Specials shorts on DVD, with hopefully quality sound and picture.

I don't think the treasures should be doubled dipped. Now a couple years ago, I was pulling for Mickey and the Beanstalk to be included on the 2nd Mickey in Living Color set, which might seem hypocritical, but I don't view it that way, because Mickey in Living Color vol. II was suppose to chronicle the rest of Mickey's carrer, from 1939 - today, and Mickey and the Beanstalk was not available in the collection already, but using cartoons that are already available in on of the sets from the collection is wrong! There is no reason for double dipping, except to stretch out the series, and I believe it even takes away from the series, suddenly it doesn't seem so special because the content doesn't remain limited to that set, it's suddenly re-dispersed through out a couple sets.

Wasn't this done with the Pluto set? I have not actually opened mine yet, but I thought I remembered people saying that all the Pluto cartoons could have easily fit onto one set but that they douple dipped a lot of cartoons from the Micket sets in order to break up Pluto into 2 volumes...

Very disappointing. I also have the feeling that they are going to release the Donald sets every other year, so expects the treasures series to span a while... Hopefully they'll release the 2nd vol of Silly Symphonies soon!
