The BMP thing is a bug in Internet Explorer when the cache is full.

Go to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS and select "Delete Files" on the dialogue displayed. Be aware depending on the size of your cache and your computer's performance, this can take several minutes to complete.

Ok, but what files will I be deleting?

When you browse the internet, the computer makes a copy of all the files you download (pages, pictures, movies etc). If you request the same file again, it checks the date and uses the one stored on the computer instead of downloading it again unless the date on the internet file is newer. This speeds up browing the web.

Deleting these files will not stop any program from working. DONT DELETE YOUR COOKIES! Or else you will need to sign-in everywhere again.

I empty my browser's cache from time to time. Cus I don't have much HD space left :P
Also, i don't know in your computer, but if you have the HD space available, on mine you can increase the size of the cache folder so it doesn't get filled as quickly.

In case you still can only save internet images as bitmaps (which btw occupy more space than the jpgs and gifs they're being made of) you can use an image editor program to change the bitmaps into jpegs (Look for a dialogue that says Save as..) It can also have settings for the amount of compression which also affects the amount of space the file occupies. (But don't compress so much the pic gets ugly :D ) First resize your image to be within the 140 x 140 dimensions of avatars, then save as jpg, checking the file size. I think the limit for avatar is like 35KB? can't temember :P

My new av is from the August 1st Opus comic - Bill, Opus, Pickles and another kid are having a "Princess Junkie" group therapy meeting, when Pickles has a "dress-up" relapse.

It worked! FINALLY!

Thanks for your help, everyone: I've used bits and pieces of all of your advice, so a big thanks to everyone. Yes, I've made such a big deal out of an avatar (sounds stupid), but I've tried everything, and searched everywhere.

SO THIS IS A BIG DEAL!

It's awesome, Prince Adam.

I've changed mine again. I don't like these older covers quite as much, so I don't stick with them quite as long. This is the cover to her 4th album, 1981's In Concert.

I changed mine too, for a while, in part to celebrate my Special Editioness :P
The helmet didn't fit so I had to cut holes in it

For the STAR WARS fans, this image is from the 35mm print, and it's showing a 100% of the FULL Cinemascope/Panavision Projector Aperture, which at the time had an aspect ratio of 2.40,. No overscan allowed by dethi. If the DVD shows less than this it's cropped. You can see the anamorphic 2x squeeze in the Scope print.

Ok

Today I made a new one. This pic is from a Doris Day Trading Card from the 50's or 60's I just did some cropping and some restoration.

I picked mine cause Donald Duck rocks (of course) and cause it's a cool picture of him looking out at the great big world out there, which I tend to do a lot. :D

Just host the picture somewhere and use BBCode in your signature line. Example (spaces put in so I don't actually use the code):

Hopefully this helps. :)

I know I'm getting really annoying, but how exactly do I do that? How do I "host" the picture?

Not annoying at all. You can ask someone with a website to host it for you (free sites like Tripod usually won't be able to support that), or you can use a website like Yahoo Pictures or PhotoBucket. I don't know how much bandwith those will support, though.

Prince Adam, also, if the picture you want to show is an existing pic already "hosted" in a web page on the Net you can put its exact url address between the brackets and it'll appear in your post for as long as that image exists on that address (if the web site changes it later or goes offline, etc. a broken link pic will replace it eventualy. Thats how people posts pics and covers etc they find in news etc.

i'll use your avatar as example

(img)http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/ima ... .jpg(/img)

if you type that with the square brackets instead of the round parenthesis, I get this on my post:

Image

till the day you change your avatar i guess ;)

What does it say?
I actually forgot what I wrote exactly. Something like "You are very clever if you can read this. Wow I am impressed" something silly :P

My current avatar is one of my favorite people in military history, Colonel Harlan Sanders. Not only a military genius but a brilliant tactician. China had it's General Tso but we have Colonel Sanders. We could only imagine what kind of glorious battle could have been fought with these two as the leaders of their respective armies.

It's a group shot from Ally McBeal. I'm sad the series is off the air. How about a Cage and Fish spin-off Fox? Go on, how about it? Just because Ally left the company doesn't mean it can't carry on.

A Cage and Fish series would be wacktacularly funny.

Col Sanders may have been a brilliant tactician, but he didn't have much luck training chicken (but he was sure good at killing and cooking them!)

Leave it to one of the Colonel's rivals to really train a chicken (as well as kill it and cook it later) It can even Riverdance!

I just made a new one.

Of course, it's from The Three Musketeers (starring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy), which will be my favorite DTV movie...

It's reallly profound.............I like Kim Possible

I'm seriously thinking of switching it to Rufus 3000, but then I'd have to look for a pic.
