So, does the Blu-ray for The Lion King 1 1/2 have the original blue castle opening with the sound effects that are no longer found on The Lion King Blu-ray? What cruel, cruel irony that would be.

Bought both movies at my local Walmart. They only had 2 of each on Blu-ray case the rest was on DVD case. The had a big cardboard display about the Lion King films and also beside that they had Bambi, Bambi II, and B&TB blu-rays that there going back to the vault in April.

Wished Disney would of put scene selection and a background picture on the blu-rays, it just looks too plain with a white background.

On The Lion King 1 1/2 everything is imported from the 2004 DVD release except the games. I'm one of those person who don't care about games but they were actually entertaining specially the virtual safari but it didn't end up on the Blu-ray. Glad that the Raven music video end up on the Blu-ray but for some reason I don't know why Disney didn't put the music video in it's original aspect ratio. Don't like the stretch widescreen everyone looks wide. The Lion King 1 1/2 looks amazing on Blu-ray plus it has the original blue castle opening.

I don't own The Lion King 2 2004 release so I don't know what was drop for the Blu-ray release. I haven't seen this movie in years. All I can say is that the picture looks great on Blu-ray (skip some parts just to see how clear the movie looks). This does not have the updated or the blue castle opening.

Would anyone with The Lion King 1-1/2 and/or The Lion King 2 on Blu-ray be willing to scan the full covers for me? I bought the trilogy and hate the packaging, so I'd like to print out my own covers and slip them in separate cases.

I can't get these until Saturday but I need to know if the $8 coupon on the blurays themselves was just at Target or if those coupons were everywhere? Thanks.

I've read that Best Buy is also doing the promo (they have a banner ad in store advertising the $8 off).

I went to both Best Buy and Target yesterday neither store had stickers on the copies. Other people at Blu-ray.com are also reporting that they didn't see stickers. The only place I ever saw the sticker was in that unboxing video on YouTube. :?

I've heard that there is a poster or sign at Best Buy advertising the deal, but I did not see it. I went to Best Buy first and then Target to get my copies. The discount comes up automatically at Target when they scan the two UPC's.

If you look in the New, improved post a picture of your collection thread you'll see I own these movies at least in 3 different types of packaging( amazon/hmv)Guess I'm even more of a Lion-fetisjist

At my local Walmart the $8.00 off sticker was only on The Lion King 2 blu-ray. The Lion King 1 1/2 didn't have a sticker. The DVD case version had stickers. Well if you want the blu-ray case you can peel one sticker from the DVD case. ;)

My frustration over the price of these blus and the difficulty of finding the sticker deal anywhere besides target, where they are both 2 dollars more than Best Buy, caused me to actually NOT buy them, which was a big deal for me. When it comes to Disney traditional animation, I have never skipped a blu-ray (I want their other blu-rays too, but I am okay waiting, the hand-drawn stuff is the most likely to get stuck in a vault). In fact, even with DVD, I have only missed out on some of the Pooh direct to video releases (which I still hope to Ebay or Amazon eventually) because of putting off the purchases, otherwise only passing on rereleases when they were not improvements to their previous forms. This time though, mainly because it was two films released at once (but separately), I just couldn't handle the cost. Here's hoping I DO land them before they go back in the vault though. I think these two are among the better direct to video films, and I do want to get them on blu.

I've been meaning to tell my story when picking these up, but i've been busy.

Basically, I put off buying these for a few days because I went around looking for those $8 off stickers and didn't find a single one. I went to 2 different Wal-marts, 2 Best Buys, and my local Target. Fed up with looking I went ahead and picked them up at Best Buy since I was going to get The Muppets iron-pack anyway. I'm really disappointed that the stickers were the only deal we got from these and they didn't exist on every copy. It's incredibly cheap of Disney to have done this.

If this is how they are going to be releasing their future coupons from now on, I'll just order through amazon where it seems they'll honor it none-the-less.

I am happy to have both of these films in my collection, but I, too, feel like I paid too much for them.

It's strange that you're able to get classic Disney films cheaper on release day than you're able to get the sequels for. You would think they'd put a bigger push behind the sequels since they are probably least likely to get purchased without a decent deal, wheras the classics are typically guaranteed sellers.
