I never said I didn't want more categories, I just didn't want too many.

I registered (as TheSequelOfDisney) and I'm awaiting my email. I still have hope that this site will continue to run for at least a few more weeks (and hopefully longer). I'll definitely stay until the end, but I really hope that that end doesn't come. I've spent nearly 6 registered years on here (more like 7 or eight years not counting registration) and I seriously don't know what I'd do without UD (I still haven't transitioned to calling it DVDizzy). I'll stay hopeful, but if UD does fold, I'll try and be on Disney Mania as often as possible to continue discussing Disney (and other stuff too) with all of you great people.

But your use of words does not make me feel safe about joining the new site.
Oh, please, can you PLEASE, for just one f---ing time lay off the FAKE DRAMA and NOT over-react?! Heartless is trying to do a nice thing for all of us, including you, and all you can do is bitch and whine and moan over FAKE drama. If you want to join: join. You're welcome. If not: fine, too. Bye, bye!

Heartless, thanks for taking the time and effort to create a new forum. Don't listen to ingrateful people, we're happy with it. My only suggestion is to make the forum a bit lighter, like this one, to make reading easier. Otherwise: perfect. Now we need to create more threads there and make every UD'er aware of the new forum.

enigmawing wrote:Heartless~ I must say I personally enjoyed being a moderator as well, but some of the inconsistencies and lack of support from the site owner that I worked for frustrated the hell out of me. For example, he allowed sock puppets which totally messed up the community; it got so bad that members didn't know who was who anymore and many of my friends simply left due to all the drama it caused. He'd also play favorites and overturn moderating actions because he'd change his mind over enforcing the rules on a whim.

Oy . . . but that's a different story altogether, lol. I'm just glad my input has helped. :) I hope things come together well and can run smoothly!
Yikes, that's a recipe for disaster. I think we can all agree that a forum with clear specific rules with fair, consistent and unbiased moderation is what we all want. It would be very frustrating for moderation to be like you described and for members to see moderators playing favorites and overturn moderation actions or picking and choosing who the rules apply to. No one wants to feel like the outcast while the forum favorites can do whatever they please.

@Heartless, I greatly appreciate you taking the time to make the forum. It looks very promising. :)

Well I am grateful for a new forum being made in the first place so at least thank you for that Heartless, but please address what I said.

If this causes trouble, so be it, but I am sharing my honest feelings and not trying to appall you, I am trying to come to an understanding. I mean I said I liked you more over time, and you said nothing of that. None of this is making me feel good about a new forum.
Sorry. I didn't even see this post until your last reply. I would have addressed it sooner.

When I said that I was 'appalled' by your statements, I meant it in a way that I was shocked to hear you would even think I would treat you or other members unfairly. If this is what you thought, you certainly do not have a good grasp of who I am. I suppose that's only my fault for only partaking in discussions that were normally against your opinion, but please know that I am in no way being biased or intend to be biased.

If it makes you personally feel better, then I'll go ahead and say "no matter what happens, I will be fair to you Disney Duster and treat you the same as anyone else." I thought that was implied, sorry that you thought something differently.

This is all I can say on the matter. The rest is your decision. (Also, I too was sharing my honest feelings..)

Go to "Preferences" under your UserCP and look for the following option:

Always notify me of replies :
Sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post.

Click on "no," update, and you should be good. :)

Wow, that's weird. I haven't messed with it much myself. You could always try to stop watching the topic with the link at the bottom of each thread you post in.

I was thinking, maybe it'll be a good idea if we can get current mods to be mods there. That would help the transition be much smoother. (Especially when there is so much tension between certain members that if one or more of them to become mods, it would make it uncomfortable to the other member(s). I think choosing mods is a decision best left for Heartless though.

I'm going to join later today. I'm not sure whether I would like to be a mod or not yet. I might. If I do I wouldn't ever want to make any decision on my own. I would like to create a mod network so mods can discuss situations and come to a resolution that all moderation agrees on.

Well thanks for saying that Heartless. That makes me feel better. But I'm waiting to join. Luke hasn't even said anything about this yet...

Dr Frankenollie, yea, I'd like to keep discussing with you and everyone, too.

Marvellous. I'm sorry that I haven't replied to you in the Disney Essence Debate or the Religious Debate for perhaps a whole week (which, in Internet time, is several years)... Hopefully I can post later today.

I'm going to state the obvious here:

If the people posting in this thread took the time and energy they are using in attempting to create a new forum to visit the front page of www.dvdizzy.com on a regular basis, actually read Luke's articles on occasion, promote them using Facebook, Twitter, or one of the many other social media, AND click the random ad or two, maybe Luke wouldn't be currently preparing himself for the demise of something he has been working day and night for. Take a look at any of Luke's articles. There is an opportunity to "like", "tweet", and "share" it. Huh. Maybe spreading the word would do some good, don't you think?

I don't want to come across as being over-the-top negative right now, and if you want to create your own Disney community, that is your right, freedom, and whatever else. But for those of us, for whom this Google penalty is a very real part of life, I find this thread to be very insulting.
