It was great ...

It started out like the viewer is going to see a live taping of I Love Lucy ... Desi addresses the audience ... and then the go into the three episodes ...

The new bridging scenes between each episode were great ... and really made it seem like it was a movie ...

And at the end the cast comes out and takes a bow ...

I don't know ... it might be a snug fit ... if it can even fit in there ...

There is a booklet inside the box that says whats on each disc ...

I have The Lucy & Desi Collection which includes The Long, Long, Trailer ... So I know the size ... and just by opening the box and looking in at its contents ... I don't think the dvd case could fit in there ...

sorry to double post...but i was recently reading some reviews from the set and saw that someone posted that the book is great but if you put it in the box, the heart does not fit in perfectly leaving a tiny gap between the gap and actual set. is this true or not?

I don't know what these reviews are referring to? The book fits inside the set just fine, and there is no gap that I am aware of. The "Heart" lid actually fits over the outside of the bottom portion of the set. Check the pics I took, and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I wonder if they will put the extras in a seperate release for those who can't afford teh complete series set like that. Besides I already have seasons 1-4.

i doubt they will. i mean how many sets have done that in the past? i think the closet that has ever happened was with friends offering the 'series set holder' in the final season. but as far as extras go probably not. maybe the movie in the future but i am sure even that is pushing it.

Congratulations! I know the wait will be hard, but, it will be worth it!

I'm actually just watching the new bonus features disc. I really like everything on it. It's interesting to see "Lucy Goes To Scotland" in color. They did a pretty good job colorizing it. Probably the best job I've seen in colorizing an original black and white episode.

I like how the "I Love Lucy Movie" is done. It really does feel like you could watch this on the big screen. It's those three episodes, mentioned in a post above, but, it's got new scenes to tie them together. On top of that, you get to see the beginning and ending of it through the eyes of being an audience member, at the actual tapings. Very cool.

Plus, with some of the bonus features, you get to see how they marketed the shows, back in the 50's. It's funny, because they had Phillip Morris as their main sponsor, so, everyone smokes. Ads are for cigarettes, there are Phillip Morris signs that appear in some of the episodes, that are hanging on walls.

There's footage from the Academy Awards, when Vivian Vance won for Best Supporting Actress in a Situation Comedy. "I Love Lucy" won for Best Situation Comedy, and you see Lucy and Desi accepting that award.

Really, this package is VERY well worth the price. Especially the price that Target had it for. I'm so glad that I didn't own any of the individual season sets, and held out for this package. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!

i heard that the colorization was great also! i am sooooo excited..it was quite funny, we were also looking for a new tv for inmy basement and we left lucy in the truck and i actually yelled "if anyone steal my vitameatavegamen i swear i will chase you, kill you, and steal my dvd back from you!" lol..i am not too worried about the wait because i knew i was getting tickets to see RENT on tour for about a year and a 1/2 so a month and a 1/2 isnt to bad...lol
~Ryn~

P.S. being my first complete series dvd, i hope i wont be disappointed

I checked my DVDs and the only set I can find is Season 5 where the edit is on 'Lucy and the Dummy'.

"As stated on the packaging, "Lucy and the Dummy" is edited from its original network version. When the episode first aired, the MGM talent show in which Lucy appears also featured an extensive clip from the latest MGM musical, Guys and Dolls starring Marlon Brando. Unfortunately, the producers of this set were unable to secure the rights to this clip, so it has been cut. Losing it doesn't detract one bit from the episode, and the episode is so complete otherwise that it even includes the emcee's introduction of the clip and the post-clip segue." - A tvdvdreviews.com Review

I herad that the show's script was running short so they sold the extra time in the show to MGM.
