OGAWD.

I just recently have seen these photos. I think they are amazing.
They feature celebrities as Disney characters!
Beyonce Knowles- Alice (TLM had this as his avatar awhile back. I remember liking it and wondering where it was from :P )
Lyle Lovett- Mad Hatter
Oliver Platt- March Hare
Scarlett Johansson- Cinderella
David Beckham- Prince Phillip

My favorite is definitely Scarlett.

Where every Cinderella story comes true.
Image

Where Wonderland is your destiny.
Image

Where imagination saves the day.

Aren't they amazing?!? I've also heard rumors of expanding the campaign to include Peter Pan, Ariel, and others. Anyone heard anything?

Does anyone know if these photos are purchaseable in a poster or similar form? I would love to frame them and hang in my house.

The Snow White one is fantastic, I reckon.

JULIE'S IN ONE! JULIE'S IN ONE! Although, it's kinda weird that they are combining Pinoc with Tinker Bell, but who the heck cares. IT'S JULIE ANDREWS!

EDIT: I got's me a bigger pic!!!

All three are absolutely amazing, even if the King Arthur one seems to be based more on the Touchstone movie of the same name than the animated Sword in the Stone. The Snow White one's my favorite. I never thought Rachel could fit the bill so well. I'd love to see a third set done, but considering how long there was of a gap between both sets, I doubt we'll see another. It'a shame, too, because I'd love to see other Disney films done in Annie's style (particularly Peter Pan and Aladdin).

Here are high res versions (if anyone can find these in similar sizes without the JustJared logo on the corner, please post them):

the USAToday article notes that:
The ads will appear beginning in November as 14-page inserts in select Condé Nast magazines.
and
In the spring, two more celebs join the campaign: Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. Which characters do you think they'll be?
they speculate in a poll as to:Belle & Beast, Jasmine & Aladdin, Ariel & Eric or Mickey & Minnie

Thanks for heads up, jwa. I saw the poll, but figured it was a joke; I never seriously thought Disney would use them in their campaign. I think it's safe to say Aladdin and Jasmine will be their best bet. I'm hoping that Jennifer and Marc aren't the only entries for the third set. Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast would all be good candidates. Obviously since we've only been getting three at a time, one of those won't make it, and it'll probably be Beauty and the Beast simply because it'll be harder to do.

More Celebrities as Disney Characters

Yea, what's with that? The scene should be done in a snowy setting at least near a castle (preferably in a courtyard but near is fine), and he should be wearing red and gold (very kingly-colored) squire robes, with the scarf that would make sense with the snowy seting. Though I do love his cape. At least the sword and the stone (which looks like an anvil) are exactly like the Disney version.

I know that not all of these photos have them in costumes or settings exactly like the films, but they were at least like those, unlike the King Arthur picture which s hardly reminiscent of any scene in the Sword in the Stone. I'm very mad that Snow White's picture (which is the best of this bunch and the most amazing so far!) got to have a costume and location so much like the movie's, while the Cinderella picture left out the gloves, bustle, and big earrings! The only thing you could say is Cinderella's dress was disappearing at midnight part by part, but that's baloney.

As for the Blue Fairy picture, I really don't know if I can accept that. No little Italian village? No blue headband for Julie's hair, which should be down (no one ever see's Julie's hair down!)? Leibovitz should habe made a seperate picture for Tinker Bell and her friends, and made the Blue Fairy more recognizable in look and setting.

This article said:
Leibovitz, who will soon dress another set of celebrities as Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and Little Mermaid Ariel,
So I don't know. Tinker Bell's friend was done, but I'm wondering if Leibovitz actually changed her mind about what characters she would do.

It's very possible she changed her mind since that article is from wave 1, indicating that those characters would appear in wave 2 (which they obviously didn't). I'm still convinced we'll see those characters in wave 3, though. Peter Pan is a shoe-in for this sort of campaign, and he's is hardly ever seen without Tinker Bell. The question is whether or not they'll shrink the celebrity down to Tink's size. I have a feeling they won't and may cheat by having Tink appear in the foreground and Peter a little further off.

I also agree that I would've preferred Julie's Blue Fairy inside of Gepetto's cottage with a boy actor portraying Pinocchio (or even a real marionette of the character before he comes to life). I'm not sure what Annie was thinking with that. If she wanted to do a general fairies picture, I would've preferred she use Disney animated feature fairies like the Fairy Godmother and three good fairies to go along with the Blue Fairy. I guess it's just my aversion to the Fairies franchise and seeing it combined with canon Disney films.

It IS pretty curious why the Snow White one is so close to its animated counterpart when the others have taken artistic license. I'm wondering how Annie will approach Aladdin, Jasmine, Peter, Tink, and Ariel (assuming those are the next ones). Ariel will probably be the most faithful since all it requires is a purple seashell bra and fake fins. I'm expecting Aladdin and Jasmine to have new clothing that gives off an Arabian look rather than what's in the actual film (though I'd love to see Annie use the purple outfits both characters wear at the very end). Peter and Tink will probably be somewhere in the middle: costumes that are reminiscent of the film, but altered in some way.

Well, either Leibovitz changed her mind or was planning them for wave 3 all along, I'm hoping!

Tinker Bell in the foreground sounds like a good idea, and personally I think that's what should be done, so you can see the actress really well. However, the fact that a character created just for the Fairies franchise got done without Tinker Bell, I wonder if Leibovitz feels she's already done Tinker Bell, sort of, because one of her friends was done, and she's already done the fairy forest/garden background. We'll see.

An actor as Pinocchio would have been great! Like Haley Joel Osment because he was in A.I., which was very Pinocchioesque. Or maybe he's too old, or maybe Leibovotz wouldn't take past roles into consideration at all. Which is really how it should be done. I also preferred your idea of having other animated feature fairies in the picture instead. But the Blue Fairy has no place in a garden during the day. It should be at night in the clouds or...well, maybe Cinderella's garden at night, filled with pumpkins and a fountain...but Cinderella's "been done", as has Sleeping Beauty, sort of.

I hope the next pictures are really faithful, though. I wish they all would have been really faithful.

I'm not a big fan of many of these photos. The Snow White one is fantastic and I quite like the Cinderella one too, but the Alice picture is terrible, the Prince Phillip one is meh, Sword in the Stone is far too unfaithful, and the Fairies one... just awful. What's the Blue Fairy doing in a woodland setting, and who decided Julie Andrews would be a good choice? Sure, the Blue Fairy is a fairly mature character in age, but there's mature and there's just plain old.

:o  :o

Just kidding. I understand what you mean. Julie Andrews is (I believe) 73, and The Blue Fairy (which coincidentally when the pictures originated I was reading Pinoc) seems to be in her mid 20s or early 30s. But after almost 70 years, even the Blue Fairy has to age!
I agree with the "wrong setting" statement, too. You don't put the Blue Fairy (with a character from an entirely and unreleased movie) in a woodland background.

Still, it's Julie Andrews. That's just awesome! YOU CAN'T DENY THAT !

I like Keira Knightley, a lot actually, but she's too thin for a Disney Princess.
