Thanks Escapay! That helped. But what are your plans for the DVD release? Will you wait or buy and then double-dip, or buy this version and this version only?

And Disney...you guys are making me angry! :x    :x

Well, I'm buying the extended Narnia because it's my favorite live-action Disney film, and I hunger for more footage. 15 minutes is a fair amount of footage, and if it's evenly dispersed throughout the film rather than in two or three long scenes, it could make for a different viewing experience.

As for Pirates, I'm going to be asking for this for Christmas. That way, I won't have to wait an extended period of time to see the film again like I am with Cars, and I technically won't be double dipping since it'll be someone else's money down the drain for the first release (assuming there'll be another release).

I enjoy the movie too much to wait until a definitive Trilogy collection comes out, but at the same time, I don't want another Lost Disc fiasco (buy the set again for the extra disc). So I'll likely pass on the two-disc set for now (and bide my time with a single-disc), then pick up the two-discer (or hunt down a two-discer with lost disc) with the third movie's DVD release. If price drops are what they are, it should be at a reasonable price in late 2007 (especially considering the fact that POTC can be found for as little as $10 these days and it's an awesomely packed set).

I'm gonna wait for UD's review of the Extended Narnia to see if it's worth the extra 15 minutes, extra two discs, and extra $43 or $80 out of me. That gift set looks mighty fine and I could use the bookends for a special display when all seven films are out on DVD...which will likely take awhile.

Plus, the 4-disc set has a $10 rebate, so it could either pan out to being $33 or $70, or I could say that my 2-disc only cost me $4.99 (I got the 2-disc for $14.99 during first-week sale at Wal-Mart)

Well, they do have the giant boot as a form of punishment. ;)

Well I'll pick up the 2 Disc set at some point in the future, I saw the movie in theatres and I'm not entirely raving about either of the films.

I'm with you there! From what I've seen this will probably be the highlight for me.

I'm desperate for there to be plenty of material about the film's art direction. I honestly thought the plot was a let down, and wasn't that impressed, but the art direction was what blew me away. I sat in the theatre literally agog at how beautiful some of the scenes were!

Ooh, 12.5 minutes on the re-Imagineering featurette!

Given that the original Attraction featurette (on the DVD-ROM/Lost Disc) - "Dead Men Tell No Tales" - ran for just under 14 minutes, if there is no duplication, this should be a nice companion and tie me over until I see the changes for myself. Of course, nothing beats the Pirates in the Parks/10 Anniversary special, and if they could produce something of that calibre, we are sweet.

I already have the dice game. They sell it at the Disney parks. I actually played it last night. It's extremely fun. If I was in the UK and didn't already have the game, I'd get that set.

Wow, that's certainly going to cream the 30 minute documentary for the original, which I thought was actually pretty solid. There's roughly three hours' worth of material on this release, which is definitely good enough for me. My only complaint lies with the lack of deleted scenes (which will probably be inserted into the film for a re-release), galleries, and trailers.

I'm sorry Disneykid, but you want a longer film? :o

Well, as the great mad one would say, "Don't let's be silly!" :P

I said I'm disappointed that they didn't include deleted scenes on this release (I meant supplement-wise). Disney has always been good about including deleted scenes. The one time they didn't, we got a surprise extended edition (Chronicles of Narnia). Now they've done it again, so I can only assume an extended edition is in the works. Apparently no one told Gore Verbinski or Jerry Bruckheimer, though. They both have been saying that deleted scenes will appear on this release, but that's obviously no longer true.

yeah as much as I love Dead Man's Chest, it really shouldn't be any longer than it already is. :P

Haven't had time to import a non-R1 disc yet even though I said I would like...a year ago. Plus, I've only hacked one DVD player so far to be R0, and haven't found hacking codes for any of my other players. I did find one for my portable player, though, but it needs to be done with a remote control, which I don't have and apparently can only be bought online.

I'd assume though, that the player I hacked (a cheap one from some small company) would have some type of conversion, since I was experimenting with the region coding on it before. Actually had it hacked to be an R2 player, which screwed up the picture, and I had to squint my eyes and pay close attention to what was highlighted to turn it back to R1, before I could hack it into R0.

Escapay
The Sony DVD players (in New Zealand and Australia - we share everything, but every now and then something doesn't get returned :D ) are multi region, without hacking (or otherwise known as resetting, seems you don't need an axe or an algorithm to decode it with or whatever).

Anyway, the DVD came out in New Zealand and Australia on Wednesday, it looks good. It's interesting to see how long it took the writers to come up with a script, et cetera.

I got my Region 2 copy today (2-disc) and I must complain that the spine is a bit cluttered, there isn't a massive number 2 but at the top it has the widescreen banner, below that is a pic of Captain Jack below that the Disney logo, below that the Jerry Bruckheimer films logo below that the code Z1A BUR0028501. Then finallly the title, then a massive Digital DTS Surround logo, then the disney hologram, then the film censor's office 12 rating, then the BBFC 12 rating and finally the Disney DVD logo. My that was long
