Since the monkey didn't die, because he took the coin, does that mean that all of Barbossa's pirate gang not dead either? Cause if they aren't, then we found Barbossa's army-type-thing for film 3

Pirate Plot Holes?

I never realized that! Since the coin is gone, that should have meant the curse returned to everyone! Are there some plot holes going on here? Barbossa wouldn't eat an apple if he was cursed...but shouldn't he be? Or did they say in the first film that only a person who took a coin is cursed? I'm quite confused!

In the first film, all of the pirates, including the monkey, took some of the Aztec gold, and they were all cursed. When Jack Sparrow took one of the coins, he was a part of that same curse. Will Turner dropped the last coin back into the chest with all of the appropriate blood, and the curse was over.

After the credits, the monkey steals another coin from the chest. This is the start of Curse 2, for lack of a better term. Since he is the only being who stole the gold this time, he is the only one with the curse.

It is complicated, so let me try to explain without confusing myself or you guys:

When a person takes a coin from the chest, they become cursed. If two more people come after him and take a coin each, they'll also be cursed. If the first person didn't immediately put the coin back with his blood before the other two people committed theft, all three remain cursed until they all return their coins with their blood. Think of it this way: everytime the chest regains its full amount of coins with any due blood paid, it resets itself. The second and third people who stole the coin can return theirs along with their blood, but it won't be repaid until person number one also contributes. So, really, Jack the monkey has opened up a can of worms because now anyone who steals from the chest will become cursed, and they won't be able to get out of it until both they AND Jack the monkey return the coins with the blood to be paid.

More Pirate Plot Holes?!

Thank you BrandonH and Disneykid! But now I have two questions. Disneykid, when you said:

Did you mean cursed? Because if they are uncursed when they steal from it I don't get it.

My next question is:

When Jack Sparrow returned his coin to the chest, did he put his blood on the coin, too? Because my friend said he didn't and I don't have the movie to see if he did. If he didn't, that wouldn't make sense because the others who stole coins had to put their blood in but he didn't.

Yes, his blood was on his coin. If you watch the swordfight just before Jack throws his coin to Will, you'll see Jack cut his hand with his sword and get blood on the coin, then he quickly tosses it to Will.

Yeah, sorry, I meant cursed. I think my mind was thinking "undead" while my fingers were thinking "cursed."

well,I re-watched the movie and I thougth something:

In the fight, Barbosa stabs Jack, but he didn´t died but after he returned the coin he was perfectly fine. Maybe when the curse was undone also the damage in the body was too.

Now then, If Barbosa took a coin after he was shooted, he wouldn´t die because he Can´t die, then he would just take a sword, make a cut in his hand and return the coin and presto.

Or even this, he might go to the witch of the second movie so she could cure him in the very instant he becamed human again if the wound wouldn´t heal

That was confusing me as well. If Barbossa was shot while he was cursed, and Jack was stabbed while he was cursed, then why did Barbossa's wound affect him when the curse was broken, while Jack's wound didn't even bother him at all?

Plothole? Or am I missing something?

If I recall, the sword was out of Jack before the curse was broken, allowing his undead body to heal itself. When the curse was broken, the bullet was still inside of Barbossa, which caused enough internal disruption to kill him.

actually if u look carefully jack shot barbossa after turner's blood debt had been repaid...only will didnt toss the coin back into the chest. hence its an after curse damage.

yes, and Barbossa could stole the coin so the wound could be healed by the witch, or just by taking out the bullet, waiting some time and then returning the coin n_n

I just got back from seeing Dead Man's Chest and boy was it good!!! I really liked the cliff-hanger ending with Barbossa. I had NO IDEA he was going to be in it.

I have a question: in the beginning when Capt. Jack Sparrow shot the bird through the coffin-thing he was in, did people laugh? They did at my showing and I didn't really think it was all that funny.

Oh also! I thought the new Disney logo was pretty sweet too.
yes in my theater people laughed...including myself.

I loved how so far for every film Jack's entrance is never what it seems. First it was the excellent pirate theme with him looking all bad ass only to have it be a sinking little rowboat...and now in this one some random coffins that are being chucked out on some scary island prison, only to have jack be in them and row himself with a skeleton leg!

I wonder what jack's arrival in limbo will be like...

gosh this movie was great!

And get you all excited for "At Worlds End" here is my generic fan poster
