Well, I don't know if this will ease the pain for some. But the Netherlands got snubbed too - on the blu-ray that is - however the special edition 2-disc dvd we did get. Incredibly stupid. I mean if they want to postpone it - fine, but don't release the dvd and withold only the blu-ray. Three different dvd-only releases of Dumbo is enough already.
I'll probably just import the UK version, even though my (unrational, I admit) hatred for those awful logo's they put on the spine and front of the cover is huge. The french version is also an option... though more expensive. Decisions, decisions.

I've just today received my French Dumbo blu! I'll let you know what languages are on it in case you're considering importing. On the case it simply says French & English but I believe there may be other language options on the actual discs (it's blu & DVD).
Oh, the insert shows (among other titles) Toy Story coming in April, Frog in May and Fantasia & BATB sometime in 2010!
A very happy Matt

Here's a second review of the Mexican import (not quite as glowing as the first one).

The French blu has English, French, Turkish and German language tracks. Among new and 'classic dvd' features it has cine-explore and Disney view. It has trailers for Toy Story blus and BATB coming this Autumn (Fall).
On first glance the picture and sound are first-rate!
Will now read the review mentioned above!

I'm curious- of the people who got the Mexican Blu-ray, is the DVD version included the Big Top one? I mean, I can't say I'll really be watching it, but I was wondering if they'd use an old DVD release or put the first disc of the upcoming two-disc DVD set in it.

I haven't checked my dvd but the disc does say 70th Anniversary and I doubt Disney would restore a classic and not put that version out on the DVD the Blu comes packaged with.
Also the review is very positive regarding the technical side of the release, it's the film itself and the quality of animation its not so glowing about.

Don't get me wrong, it is a positive review. Just not quite as glowing as the first one. I have a Mexican copy coming soon and cannot wait for it to get here.

The reviewer is a staggering idiot regarding animation. Animation is about *movement* and *acting*, it isn't about line ghosting or variations from the ink and paint girls. The quality of the animation in Dumbo is *exceptional*, not dated or any of the nonsense that man is spewing. I'm curious, and maybe you folks can set me straight, but does it make sense to rate a film's video quality based on the inherent artifacts of a 70 year old hand-drawn animated film? I mean, isn't it sort of the point that you're seeing the film in sharper definition, and therefore one familiar with the film would naturally expect to see the film's production flaws in sharper definition? How is that a "video" flaw? That makes no sense. At all.

Can somebody scan the insert? the Mexican Import doesn't have one.
I does, however, have Spanish and Portuguese language tracks and menu options. The language selection is at the start of the disc.
EDIT: The DVD has the Blu-ray is Suite feature, so it's not an old edition repackaged, despite what the review says.

region 3 70th anniv dvd is out..bearing some bonus features from the blu ray and omitting some classic dvd features.
i have a question.is this release supposed to be single or double disc?
here's the complete bonus features.
1.TWO deleted scenes
2.taking flight:making of dumbo
3.the magic of dumbo-ride of passage
4.audio commentary by docter n frens
5.sound design excerpt from reluctant dragon
6.original walt disney tv intro
7.2 trailers
8.dylan and cole sprouse bluray is suite.
the restoration seems clean but nothing drastic like pinocchio or sleeping beauty.

The restoration is drastic compared to the old dvds.

color wise it aint. but there r no more flickering and they still retain the inconsistent brush strokes on the cels.
so is it initially 2 disc or 1 for BD and DVD? im too tired to scroll back
thanks.

Some scenes are pretty differently colored, but I get your point. Even the disappearing ear scene is very different.
