Words cannot be put in my mouth as to how much I want one of those KING LOUIS plushes! Does anyone know if they're in the Disney Store? (or the Kaa plushes, for that matter?) or how much they are? AND does anyone know if they will still be available in the Spring? (I live a ways away from the Disney Store, and I might be able to go when a new store opens closer to me in Spring 2008). If not, I can always wait to go to either the Chicago store (assuming there is one in Chicago, but I'm pretty sure there is) or the NYC Superstore.

Oh, and as of tommorow, only THREE WEEKS until the Jungle Book Platinum Edition comes out!!!! and I'm SO EXCITED!

There are a ton of Baloo plushes out there. I liked the one I had the best, but the latest one might be a big improvement. Couldn't find pictures of mine though, or of my Bagheera.

This COULD be the Shere Khan I have. They look the same, but mine is pretty big and this one looks like a small one, but it may not be.

I searched on the online Disney Store but couldn't find any toys, just that awesome lamp and a few other things of that nature, and shirts. If anyone sees a plush Mowgli or Shanti, let me know, though I wouldn't want Shanti without Mowgli.

Wow, no Mowgli among the UK toys. The only plush Mowgli I know of was a beanie from the UK from a while back. Nope, I checked the U.S. site yesterday and found no plush toys yet. I need to make it out to the Disney Outlet Store as soon as I can though, as they usually have better stuff than our regular Disney Store, and more variety.

I think the Kaa toys are just awesome!!

Yay, it's nice to see the brief Frank & Ollie featurette from the laserdisc is making its way over to the DVD! And I'm guessing the 15 minutes from the laserdisc doc has been re-edited into the new 46-minute doc. Why oh why couldn't they do the same for Peter Pan???

I was hoping the Bruce Reitherman interview would be longer than 5 minutes, though. Still, altogether we're getting about 1 hour and 51 minutes of material on the second disc alone (the 4 featurettes and doc mentioned here, along with the Rocky the Rhino featurette and the 28 minutes of deleted songs). Not to mention the commentary, which brings it to a grand total of 3 hours and 9 minutes of production-related material!!! And we haven't even included the trailer yet!

I second that question. As happy as I am for the Jungle Book fans, I'm still disappointed that Peter Pan is now officially the weakest Platinum ever (only time will tell what happens with Pinocchio; Sleeping Beauty and Fantasia should mimic their previous excellent editions). I guess there's always the Blu-Ray version in seven years...

Oh, and I'm still scratching my head as how how this film gets a commentary when Cinderella and Alice didn't (and Lady and the Tramp, but that wasn't as much of a concern to me).

Sequel- Is there any proof yet that we're actually getting the original trailer? But I am thrilled at the amount of attention Jungle Book is getting and the amount of bonus features!!! Hooray!

Secondly, only 20 DAYS until TJB:PE is released!! I'm excited!

Back on topic-I don't want to sound greedy...but I want more bonus features! =p But I'm happy they're choosing those ones. To be honest,after I saw Peter Pan: Platinum Edition,I didn't think The Jungle Book would be that great...because they messed up PP:PE and I thought TJB:PE would follow in it's footsteps...I'm glad they proved me wrong!

I got the newest issue of "VB" (Video Business) in the mail today, and they had the TJB:PE review.

Burbank, California—With the upcoming 40th Anniversary Platinum Edition DVD of The Jungle Book around the bend—it's scheduled for an Oct. 2 release—Disney is wrapping up an 18-day engagement at its El Capitan movie palace in Hollywood. The 1967 animated feature, the last personally supervised by Walt Disney, remains a treat for all ages.

Based on Rudyard Kipling's adventure stories, Disney's version is the tale of a gangly boy named Mowgli (voice of Bruce Reitherman, Jungle Book director Wolfgang's son) abandoned in the jungle and the pair of loving parental figures—a panther and a bear—that guide him toward becoming a man. All this while a man-hating tiger (voiced by George Sanders of All About Eve) hunts Mowgli for kill.

Bagheera the kindly panther (Sebastian Cabot of Family Affair, narrator of Disney's The Sword in the Stone) and, reluctantly, Baloo the nonchalant bear (show-stealer Phil Harris, who went on to do O'Malley's voice in Disney's The Aristocats) set out to safely deposit Mowgli in a village. Their leisurely escapades include encounters with a hypnotizing snake, barbershop vultures and a nutty ape named King Louie. During El Cap's screening, composer Terry Gilkyson's song, "Bare Necessities," was one of many scenes to cause boys and girls to erupt in spontaneous laughter. As the tag line says, "this jungle is jumpin'!"

The opening night panel, hosted by Beauty and the Beast producer Don Hahn, featured a Jungle Book reunion of original voices: Reitherman, Darleen Carr (Shanti) and Chad Stuart (Flaps the vulture). They were joined by Disney animator Andreas Deja and songwriter Richard Sherman, who performed a medley of his many Disney hits.

Disney's resourceful Howard Green (co-author of Remembering Walt: Favorite Memories of Walt Disney) managed to find footage of loose-limbed Phil Harris practically in character from an outstanding TV performance of the Oscar®-nominated "Bare Necessities." The audience loved the clip, which is not included on the DVD—another reason why El Cap's opening night classic animation panels are not to be missed.

Every Jungle Book showing features an appearance by Baloo, who leads the audience in a sing-along of "Bare Necessities" and Mr. Sherman's "I Wanna Be Like You." The picture is shown daily at 10:00 am, 12:15 pm, 2:30 pm, 4:45 pm, 7:00 pm, and 9:15 pm.
