Siren, did you see Old Fish Tale's later post showing Disney does indeed call him a manatee and I guess they aren't being accurate, then?
No, I must have missed that. And yeah, then its not accurate. A manatee would never go that deep or far out to sea. Simply put, their food source just ain't there. And they prefer real warm fresh water, like the springs. Every winter, the manatees of all ages gather at the springs to stay warm. Dugongs can take the cold.

Well...as far as I know on those years the beauty cannons where really different from now
For example on women, shaving their eyebrows or even part of their hair to make the illusion of a bigger forehead, also the beautiful women were the ones with meat on their bones, not only bones and skin...but yes, also all that time on sea helped a lot  :P

I kinda like the cover with the "III" and with Benjamin, but it does look a little too crowded. Does anyone notice that the eel on the new one kind of resembles Flotsam or Jetsam? (The face, I noticed).

Anyway, thanks for posting that!

.
Not quite-Ariel and her sisters were hungry and there was nothing to eat in the castle so they... and that's why Marina is the villain.

You know,Marine is similar to Jafar and she seems trying to take over the castle like Jafar is trying to over the palace.

A villain trying to take over? Who in the world could have foreseen this?!?!

Besides, the Horned King, Ratigan and Ursula all tried it before Jafar.

My point is that she's working and pretend to be nice but she has a different motive like Jafar.

Well, that's what villains do- they want power.

If you're comparing Marina to Jafar, it should be noted that Morgana's climax is similar to Jafar's.

I don't remember Jafar being frozen and falling into the ocean :P

I think it depends which climax you are referring to, the "we're locking you in the itty-bitty living space, and just for kicks sticking you in the Cave of Wonders" or the "your lamp is now destroyed thus destroying you" climax. That is what happened in the second one right? it's been a long time since I've watched the sequel but I do know it involved lava...

Now compare it to Morgana, who gets frozen and falls into the ocean to sink to unknown depths.

To address AP's picture of Jafar and our newest villain. Not much that's similar really, yeah they have scrunchy faces but all villains have shown a face like that in their movies. Motives are the just reused to suit the movie and given different tweaks to suit the villain as well.

Agreeing with Siren, he's most likely a dugong and as usual Disney just messed things up (whether it was purposely or just not enough (or any) research is debatable).

Here's a Dugong (and no I don't mean of the Pokemon variety :P)

I think this looks more similar to Benjamin (is that it's name?) at least in my opinion it does, compared to Reiners first picture at least it does.

The way they both first smile and then gets angry like in my picture? like Ariel falling like Giselle.
And Marina is similar to Jafar because she's working for Triton and she's hiding her motives, she control to castle like Jafar in the palace, aren't you getting what I mean?.

I'm talking about her whole "the end begins for all of you with fins!" Where she makes them all bow down, etc- I consider that part of the climax... I may be wrong, though. Rising action, I guess. lol

To address the picture first:

The reason they're both similar in that picture is because they're both displaying the same emotion. But using that logic they're similar to any other villain who does that, Madame Medusa, Madame Mim, Hades, Chernabog etc.

Now to adress the second half:

I get what you mean that they're similar to each other motive wise (taking over the castle) but again using that logic Marina can be compared to any other villain, whether it be Ursula, Hades (to an extent I think), Duke Igthorn, Ratigan, the Horned King etc.

However the bare motive: I want to be in charge, has been used over and over as seen by the examples above. The difference is each villain tries to do it in their own way, and is trying for different types of power. Horned King want's the power over the Cauldron Born and ultimately Prydain, Hades wants to dethrone his brother and rule, Ratigan wants to be King and so forth.

It's the same old concept, just done differently. Hope that helps clear things up :)
