I was in CA for business last week and caught it too -- it was incredible. The best the film has ever looked and sounded. You have no way of knowing this is a 70 year old film. No complaints from me. It still had that "old classic" feel to it as well. Although I'm not bothered by the restorations like some people are, but I can't see how anybody could be dissapointed with this one.

Yeah, apparently it's available to rent right now in Mexico with the release date as previously scheduled. Maybe this is a good sign that ours hasn't been delayed but just thrown under everyone's radar for whatever reason.

Or is it possible Region 1 simply won't be getting this release? I mean it's happened before, and with the lack of news, not to mention the fact that Dumbo would be the first non-Platinum DAC to be put on BD...

The cover's pretty cool. I might ask my bro to purchase the blue ray, I'll still get the dvd edition til I get my own blue ray player

It's possible but then why has it been advertised on domestic releases?

I just dont understand the blu-ray cover. I dont remember Dumbo or Timothy ever looking like that.

Region 1 (or A in case of Blu-ray) has already gotten it, as Mexico is the same region as the United States.

Actually, Mexico is region 4, like the rest of latin america.

Yes, for DVD you're right... I was under the impression he was asking about a region 1 Blu-ray, but Blu-ray has different region codes than DVD... in Blu-ray Region A covers both the US and Mexico as well as the rest of the America's.

That being said, both the Blu-ray AND DVD will play on a US player...

The Blu-ray in Dumbo's Mexico release is Region A (which is all of the America's) and the DVD is regions 1 & 4.

From what I hear though, since the USA and much of Latin America use the NTSC format, one DVD should work on the respective DVD players. The Regions thing doesn't quite make that much sense. Regions 2 and 4 mix PAL and NTSC areas, whose DVDs wouldn't necessarily work on each other's DVD players. So, in short, a DVD (and most likely Blu-Ray, I presume) from Mexico would work on an American player.

I've been looking around and have yet to find anywhere you can import also. So if anybody has any idea, it would be greatly appreciated !

Yeah I've been looking the past day for places online to import but no luck...however www.amazon.com has a sign up for when it's announced... to be released stateside at least and they have the new cover art that was posted earlier in this thread for it..
