You beat me to the punch,
Dottie! I just woke up to read about this, and came to post. At any rate, this is very impressive, and well deserved! Congratulations to the Pixar team, indeed!

Boo to the Academy. Seriously ... I'm pissed. Really pissed.
Oh and by the way, congrats Pixar, but I haven't yet seen the movie. Good luck to Brad Bird!

It probably won't get since there is a Foreign Language Animated Film being nominated (Presopolis) and they might give it to that (Which I hope not.)

I wrote that after the Globe-win.
But you are probably right that Persepolis might win. It is a very good movie and the animation is just so different from anything else. Persepolis is great and would also deserve to win.

I have to disagree. Meet the Robinsons was cute but no where near the quality of Rattatouille or Surf's Up.

If anyone wants to know what's on the European 2 disc release, this is a good review:

Basically, the 2-disc is the equivalent of the main disc in the US, the Target bonus disc, and maybe one or two other featurettes. It is infuriating that Disney is being so stingy with extras on its best movie of 2007.
RATATOUILLE WON!!!

Congratulations!
Although, I am in the camp that it should have gotten a nomination for Best Picture as well. I have the feeling that had it been a live action film it would've gotten it. It was a critic's darling and the people loved it.
Isn't the point of the "Best Picture" category is to honor movies that are TRULY the best?

Oh, I agree, completely. However, it appears that they have created the catagory of Animated Feature Film to keep animated films from being allowed in the Best Picture catagory. I think they should certainly reverse that decision, but, it seems unlikely, at this point.

The only problem is that they discriminate animated films for kids and they aren't what Hollywood is all about.
Maybe if all the studios worked together and only released animated films for that year, then they will HAVE to pick one for Best Picture!

my dad heard this movie was good and bought the DVD for $10 at Target, today. Was it really that good? It was the first Pixar movie I absolutely refused to see.......
