I think most of the sequels are ok. The only sequel that I think actually
ruined the first movie's ending is Pocahontas 2.....I wish I never saw it!!!

I don't know why they had to make Pocahontas and that other guy fall in love!!! She was supposed to be with John!!!!

That's why I don't ever watch sequels!
I do for live action ones, like Princess Diaries or The Santa Clause, stuff like that, but never animated ones.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Little Mermaid 2 since it's your favorite movie. To tell you the truth I never saw it, but I saw a preview and all I can say is, THAT ANIMATION LOOKS HORRID!!!

It is! And the story is just a recycled, Little Mermaid I.

Well, figure I'd bring this back after seeing today's news on UD's front page.
The story actually sounds very intriguing. I can hear the Great Spirits praising this already. But....where is Koda?! O_o He wasn't mentioned in the news.

Well, didn't the voice actor's school's website say he was attached to this? I bet at the very least he'll be reduced to interplay with Rutt and Tuke. Assuming most of the focus is on the present (and not the childhood friendship), then we won't have another protagonist-made-young prequel and that alone is promising following Tarzan II. But the ending of Brother Bear was probably my least favorite part of the movie, so I don't think there's an apt ending to spoil or a legacy to taint.

Ah could be true.
But I wonder if he and Kenai seperate. That would'nt make sense, seeing as how Koda "needs him". Hmm...only time will tell on the storyline. But it does sound very Dances-with-wolves, in a way.

Haha. I agree. Pocahontas doesn't end up with John Smith in real life anyways but the movie had such a great story with all the drama. Then all of a sudden she ends up with John Rolfe.

Yeah, as said before, if you look into the TRUE STORY of Pocohontas, she ends up with John Rolfe. So technically speaking, the 2nd movie is actually based MORE on the true story then the 1st movie.
Pocohontas was originally just a young girl when John Smith came to what is now Virginia. After he left for England, she followed suit years later. She met John Rolfe and fell in love and they married. She did meet John Smith again for a brief time, but as it was before, the meeting was platonic. So no, she was NEVER suppost to live happily every after with John Smith. Instead she died of smallpox on a ship heading back to her homeland.

back to the main theme:
So it will be like a grown-up Koda having some issues with Fuzzy Kenai?

I don't think I could take a movie with mostly Rutt and Tuke. Unlike Timon and Pumbaa, they are not essential characters. They are for comedy ONLY in a very dramatic movie, but if they cut them out completely, the movie would not be lacking. All IMO.
Anyways, I do see it's open for a sequel. But essentially will likely be another cookie-cutter sequel. Another rehash of an old story.
I think what would be most interesting, IMO, is if they look into some more Inuit legends and find one that may tie in well with Brother Bear.
But more then likely, Koda will accidently turn human

For a sequel, the animation's pretty good. Nothing compared to the original, but seeing as the original created a unique world underwater, it was only going down from there with sequels. I just wish they'd stop using all these extra-light hippy colors. Way too bright. The original only had extremely bright colors during "Under the Sea" to make the underwater life seem more inviting. But that's the same for a lot of sequels (like L&tT, PP2, Cinderella 2, TJB2, Dalmations 2, and so on).
Still, most sequels are rehashes of the originals. At least TLM2 had ONE decent song ("For A Moment").

or maybe Nita will become a bear

. most likely it'll be triangle tween Koda, Kenai, and Nita .
OT: Poc II was mainly damage control for this first movie . Hun II for the sissy romantic types

. if Hun II were done properly they would've killed almost everybody ..or everybody annoying...

You always "can't wait" to own another DVD, man...
The story sounds interesting (well, at least I'm sure that Rutt and Tuke will add comedy to it!). Any possibility of this having "romance" in it? Maybe Nita will become a bear. Or Kenai will return to human form, by some weird chance.

Haha, that's wat my cousin says everytime I bring up the topic of Pocahontas.
Isn't there any way for Disney to burn all the sequels and not make new ones? So it's like they never existed?

I actually think the story sucks!
If done properly it can be a good sequel for all the reasons 2099net said! I would prefer a the story to go like this:
Kenia has to turn back into a human for some reason, but then a bear falls in love with him. And even though Kenia likes the bear, he doesn't want to tell her that he was originally a human, since she HATES humans.
I actually think that story sounds much more interesting than the story Disney is planning!

It's not stupid, it's great. Maybe if they could come up with a GMD sequel in 2007 or 2008 or maybe if I can find a writer so I can tell a writer about to join up with the writers to write a sequel to The Great Mouse Detective that I can give them some suggestions. Am I right?

...the idea of Kenai having a secret to thoseear-gals sounds promising.
Imagine it, Kenai likes the bear-gal and she likes Kenai, but what she doesnt know is that he is really a human, but he didn´t know either is thta she is interested about humans because she don´t belive humans can be all that bad(yeah, let´s recycle old DIsney stories

) Koda know Kenai´s secret and he tries to tell her the other bear-gal because he thinks she will be an obstacle between him and his new big-bro; somethings happens that put Koda in danger, the ebar-gal risk her life to save Koda and he realize that she is not that bad;suddenly she fall and dissapear, Kenai and Koda remember when they lost their loved ones, and when they find her both cry, both are sad. The big brother(the one who bcomed an eagle)appear and he revive her but as human, Koda and Kenai don´t understand and then he tell them that because of her sacrifice her wish was granted, but Kenai is sad because now h is a bear, but his brother make both Koda and Kenai are transformed into humans and they live as a happy family.
Tedee...even when you do that,Disney must hire him before he could work with the other writters, and without being Eisner´s related or something, this is impossible
