My favorites are Disney Rarities and, of course, Donald Duck Vol. 2.

But what about the information that Donald Duck Vol. 2 is expected to contain the DD Cartoons from 1942 to 1948 or even 1949? Did you also get it from the phone conversation or is it just a rumour?

It would be great because many of my personal favorite Donald Duck shorts were made in 1948 and '49, but in this case the collection would consist of about 48 cartoons (56, respectively), which could be a little much compared with the previous collections of a single Disney character. The biggest so far, as I know, was "The Complete Goofy" with 46 or 47 cartoons and the others had about 30 on average. I took also into account the DD cartons which were released on "Front Lines" because this was the way they did with the Pluto cartoons: "Army Mascot", "On Ice", "Private Pluto" and so on, all of them were relased again on Pluto Vol. 1.

I would be glad if DD Vol. 2 would contain at least all DD-Cartoons from '42 to '47 and not only '46. I mean, in latter case, it would be 32 cartoons, still more than Pluto Vol. 1 or Mickey in Living Color Vol. 1 have, so it could also be possible, couldn't it? By the way, I don't understand why they didn't produce just one complete Pluto collection, as they did with Goofy.... yes, of course I understand, and the reason is also crystal clear...

I hope the "Rarities" includes some Ludwig Von Drake episodes from Wonderful World of Color.

Although, wouldn't it be nice if for the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland they would release a treasures with the Original Disneyland television show?

I also thought there were more DD then MM cartoons. So DD should have at least 4 dvds.

Disney Heroes, wouldn't this include the same cartoons as on the dvd American Legends?
John Henry, Casey Jones and Paul Bunyan?
I hope this will contain "Donald in Mathmagical Land" and "Ben & Me".

Disney Rarities?

For me "Spin and Marty" is as interesting as "Davy Crocket" (which too were all on one treasure, but less then Spin and Marty I think) and MMC. None whatsoever.

From more then one site I have heared rumors that Song of the South will be released as a 60th anniversary in 2006?
Don't know how much is true though?

Everything concerning the themeparks and cartoons I will buy, but Davy and MMC I skipped, as far as i am concerned I will skip at least one DVD this time, and maybe more

I had hoped for True Life's Adventures. I saw those a long time ago (20 years or so)

BTW I am a new member and I am from The Netherlands so I too had never heard of Spin and Marty (as many European members) so thanks for the explanation

I'd say that depends on how you count them. There are about the same number of DD and MM titles (about 120 each). But Donald appears in more shorts than Mickey. Most of the shorts where they (and usually Goofy) appear together are MM titles. I think three more sets of DD are going to be enough. Two more could even do, depending on how the remaining shorts are organized and which ones are included. (Are they going to repeat most of the war-themed DD shorts?)

You do as you please. But (as a European) I didn't know these programs either, but I got them and watched them and was very happy I did.

Could be, but my interest are not really into Davy, or Zorro, or others. And others tell what they will buy or not in this wave and so do I. So no response on that needed to be given

There are of course the shorts with Humphrey the Bear (or something ) and Donald is in all of them, if I am not mistaken.

Though I agree that Disney is double dipping those titles (releasing them again). Because not everyone did buy "On the Front Lines".

That's all right. I guess I just happen to know something you don't (since I've got those sets, I mean), so I just give a little piece of advice based on that. But, fair enough, these programs are hardly "primary Disney classics" like the theatrical shorts. I probably wouldn't have bought them (or at least not all of them) if they weren't part of the Treasures line.

The Bear appears in only a handful of shorts and the Duck is in most of them. But, as far as I can remember right now, I don't think Donald appears in "In The Bag". (Or maybe I'm mistaken, I didn't check.)

Maybe "everyone" should. The "Front Lines" set had the highest print run of all the Treasures. And I somehow doubt that "Der Fuehrer's Face" is going to be repeated. But who knows.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is owned by Universal as far as I know.

Hooked Something and In the Bag indeed do not feature Donald.
You might be right that "In der Fuhrer's Face" might not be repeated, and somehow I understand.

But some Pluto cartoons were both on "On the Front Lines" and on the "Pluto Collection", so most will probably be on Donald Vol 2.

You are right about telling me I might need to buy those. I made that mistake with DisneyLand USA and I got that one finally when it was already OOP. But I dooo have that one and I am glad I finally bought those

Oh yes - "Hooked Something" - that would be "Hooked Bear".

About the Treasures again, I think the Disneyland USA set is usually considered the weakest of the lot. So if you think that one's worth having, you might really end up needing to have the rest of them as well. But it's up to you, of course...

If I had to be really, really restrictive and get rid of most of my Disney DVDs, I'd keep the Fantasia Anthology and all or as many as possible of the Wald Disney Treasures. IMO, these are worthy of their name - "Treasures".

Looks like this will be the first wave I won't be purchasing ALL 4 sets.

With the exception of Wave 3, all of the Treasures have been released on the first Tuesday of December, more or less coinciding with Walt's December 5th birthday. (Wave 3 was delayed from the same time.)

They usually don't start showing up until late July/early August at best.

"Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom" and "Melody" on <i>Fantasia 2000</i>. Although I guess since that's out of print, they are becoming something of a rarity now.

I forgot they were, but it wouldn't suprise me if they were. Remember how many dvd's had the Lonsome Ghosts short on them.
