Nope I'm not buying mine I'm renting it at the library.
Hey it's for free and I only read books once.
I didn't read Harry Potter 4 (I read some but not all) or 5.
I know that books are cheap but I prefer to save my money for Disney DVD's.

I read 500 pages of book 5. Then, got busy with books for school, then decided that since I already knew who died, the rest of the book was rather unimportant...so I think I'll skip the rest and move on to book 6.

Well I got mine at about 12:20 AM. I went to sleep instead of staying up longer and reading it. I'm at Chapter 4, pg.58 right now.

Yay!
Got back from Costco, they had hundreds of copies. 16 bucks is a great price though.

I'll start reading later on today.

Haha, while I was in the airport earlier this morning in Zurich flying back to the States, it was like 4:00AM in the morning and people were already selling it, and some of the people in my tour bought it so they got it earliest

Got mine at Wal-Mart for $15.78 and read it in about 8 or so hours (would've been 7 but I took an hourlong break to talk on the phone with my sister).
I too was surprised by how non-plotty the book seemed to be, at least up until the last few chapters. Having all this revealed in Book 2 would've made it too long, so JKR was wise to save it for this one.
Spoiler: Somebody dies. But that's expected now.

Well, I haven't finished the book, but with the sudden proliferation of HBP threads popping up all over Off-Topic, I suffered major spoilers just to do some damage control.
So I've split relevant spoiler posts from this thread to Sofa's open spoiler discussion. I also deleted all outraged reactions (as well as other irrelevant fluff posts) and cut this thread down to 3 pages. So now, I'm going to close
this thread; and henceforth, all
Half-Blood Prince discussions
with spoilers will be directed
here. Those who wish to talk about
Half-Blood Prince without spoilers, go to
this thread.
Lastly, I'm very sorry that none of the UD Powers That Be anticipated this before the book release... we really
should have set up designated spoiler and non-spoiler threads way in advance, and we should have been very clear to users about where to go for thoughts and reviews after the book came out. I apologize to the several posters who were inadvertantly spoiled because of the fractured thread posting and lack of spoiler policies.
Thank you very much, SofaKing381222, for your hearty attempts at damage control and mediation!

I'll get eveything redirected A.S.A.P. ^_^
