I can see Alice In Wonderland being treated as a Platinum title. Whether or not anyone thinks Alice is a great movie, the fact is that Alice and the associated characters have always been staples of classic Disney characters appearing consistently in general merchandise, parades and character appearances in the parks, and various posters and pictures that depict a range of the most famous characters. They're recognizable, popular, and as symbolic of classic Disney animation in the public's mind as the other famous titles. The fact that Alice In Wonderland has almost never been out of print on vhs or dvd is testament to its ongoing presence in the marketplace if not its popularity. In short, it's a very well known title for the company with a presence in the marketplace reaching further than other Platinum titles like 101 Dalmations for example.
Sleeping Beauty as a movie and a set of characters has been a rather low key entity for the company until they started pushing it in light of the "princess" trend. It has gone from relative obscurity compared to other classic titles to reaching Platinum status later this year. Alice can't be included in the princess line, but it can be similarly elevated as a dvd release, and it can be argued that Alice has long maintained greater recognition than Sleeping Beauty had until recently.
