I'm hoping we'll see lithos again with this release through Disney Store B&Ms.

I've never reserved a DVD in my life. I like the thrill of going to Wal-Mart early in the morning to get newly released movies. Hey, a college kid needs to look forward to something. Sounds like some good incentives to reserve LATT, though. Too bad the nearest Toys"R"us is over an hour away from me.

I'm like Daryl. I don't like reserving dvds because I love to get them on the first day and watch them once I get home. I'm going to stop by a Toys R Us one of these days and see what the plush look like..or maybe there's a newspaper ad.

Admittedly, I've not posted here much lately, but I've not seen anybody mention that the Disney Shopping.com is selling some SotS merch for the 60th.

Those items are priced in the somewhat exclusive range - like the SotS laserdisc used to be...

I still can't believe the duplicity shown here by Disney. On one hand they want to pretend like SotS never happened by refusing to release a definitive DVD version, yet on the other hand they trumpet the film (and the song that it made famous) by having a ride based on it at all their theme park resorts and then releasing items like this. Which is it? There are a whole generation of children who have absolutely no basis of reference for these characters other than the audio animatronics found in "Splash Mountain".

One of these days they'll come around...

Yes, but before the film was made, there was no reference for kids to have for "The Country Bears." Or "Journey into Imagination." Yet you see kids toting around Big Al and Figment stuffed animals throughout the parks. What I'm trying to say is that alot of kids don't realize there was even a movie. My interest in the movie was first sparked as a kid through my "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" sing-along song video. Not from the ride. It was then that I realized all those characters were from a film I'd never seen. However, I do think Disney is sitting on a gold mine with SOTS because the characters are recognizable and I'm sure when people see adds for it they will say "Those are the characters from that ride I love" and go buy it. lol.

You are so very wrong there. "Country Bear Jamboree" at Disneyland was a major attraction for years. The 'Bears' were and still are a very big part of the Disneyland lore at the park in California. If you never saw "Country Bear Jamboree" you really missed a very good show, something they have not been able to equal in the many years since.

I think what goofystitch was implying was that for children who've never been to a Disney theme park at all (and if there parents have never been/aren't Disney aficionados), the Country Bears will seem new. Of course, there is the film of The Country Bears, yet they look nothing like their theme park counterparts and not that many people have seen the film.

I was just browsing disneyshopping.com last night and noticed this as well. Note, however, that Uncle Remus is nowhere to be found.

Interestingly, I typed in Uncle Remus there, and all that came out there were the cartoon characters from Song of the South. Oh well. At least you can get Mary Blair cushions from Disneyshopping.com. However, being a guy, people would probably accuse me of being girly getting a pillow like that.

By the way, Renata, I love your avatar. Perhaps they could have a meet and greet with Father Dougal at my proposed Ireland Pavilion!

Just a little tid-bit, i found a notice at work today mentioning a forth-coming Little Mermaid / Bionicle run of toys coming to McDonald's for happy meals. I think they did this every time they released it, 89 and 97. it's sort of un-important to me but maybe someone else is a collector.

I don't think they actually have. In Germany a set of happy meal toys for "Cars" was announced. (Cars is coming to theaters in Germany this September, too late!!!;))

i thought they had as well, but McDonalds has been releasing a lot of Disney toys recently especically. last year they did a 150th promotion run, and the year before that there was a Disney/Pixar Promotion. I've seen Cars recently too.

It's true even in America. If you go to McDonalds, get a Happy Meal and look under the bag it says coming next month: Little Mermaid / Bionicle. But under that it does say SUBJECT TO CHANGE. On the Happymeal.com website, it doesn't have anything listed as coming next month, and for the most part they always have a preview of next months toys.

hmmm...interesting. I guess they've changed their mind. I could've sworn all those news articles a couple months ago saying that "pirates" would be the last disney affiliated tie-in.

Ew. That'll be a tad embarrassing driving up to the window after asking for a "girl's" toy.

What I read is not that they were cutting ties altogether, but that their EXCLUSIVE relationship was ending. i.e. that not ALL Disney toys were going to be coming from McDonald's, but not NONE of them were either.
