cms382, if by "Dino" you mean Dinosaur, that does have a Collector's Edition, which should be easy to find for not too much money online.

Some of those I've seen and just don't watch often, and some I haven't seen and don't care much about, and then there others that I'm kind of interested in (like Annette), but I haven't watched yet; when I'm bored and want to watch something, the titles I posted above never are what I choose! Like what I did with my CDs, if it's not something that I use enough to take up precious space, I might as well get rid of it. And the DVDs will go for more than the CDs did. There are others that I'll surely add to my list later on. Some of which I do enjoy, but I could always just rent it from the library, or wherever...if it's been on my shelf since I bought it, then why bother keeping it? I don't need to own all the Disney films, especially if my favorites are the animated classics and a few select live-action films. I'll watch Tinker Bell and TLM: Ariel's Beginning[/i] before deciding.

So, I put a bunch of DVDs in the Trade forum. I still need advice, I guess, as to keeping the sequels that I don't watch often. I'm worried that Bobby will be mad if he knows that I'm selling DVDs (he hates it when I sell things...he's a packrat or something, I don't know). I'm okay with the ones I'm selling, since if I've watched them on my DVDs, it's been like once or twice. I wouldn't sell my favorite movies; it's some of the sequels that I'm borderline on! A lot of the sequels I don't think I'd be sad if I sold...I don't think I would sell Lady and the Tramp II, since it is really cute. A big hold-up of mine, honestly, and it shouldn't be, is my future kids- If I get rid of Leroy and Stitch, they'll never know what happens! I don't even know what happens...who's Leroy? I don't care too much; if I cared, I would've watched it years ago when I bought it. Ugh, I'm silly.

Yeah, me too. I'll be collecting any Special Edition that comes out on Blu, even if I don't like it, but it has to be a special edition without a Digital Copy and part of Disney feature animated canon (so I haven't picked up any Pixar flicks yet).

I'm guilty of wanting the full collection, even if I don't particularly like it, but I'm glad I'm note alone in this madness

Amy, not sure if this will be much help to you, but from your list of what you haven't watched . . .

Air Bud* was soooooo much better than I expected. Had it on VHS years ago and loved watching it with my dad; I eventually picked up the DVD. The sequels kinda scare me though.

Flight of the Navigator* is one of my absolute favorite movies ever, be sure to watch it before you decide to trade it off! I don't feel like enough people know about it.

The Ugly Dachshund is cute, but not something I'd have to own myself (I taped it off TV when I was a kid). It was recently on TV and even my boyfriend enjoyed it (although he admittedly cringed when I told him not to change the channel).

Lilo & Stitch 2 (Stitch has a Glitch), I've only watched once myself. Nice animation, but found the whole thing really, really depressing story-wise; I'm not even sure if I'd care to watch it again (on a side note, I loved the original movie but didn't enjoy the series much).


*Keep in mind I'm not a huge fan of live-action films in general, so they have to be pretty special to me in order to want to own.

Thanks, EW! I have seen Air Bud on TV when I was younger- I just haven't watched my own copy of it. As much as I love dogs, it's not one I have an inclination (?) to watch much at all. I've heard good things about Flight of the Naviagator, but part of me feels like, if I haven't watched it already, I'm just not that interested. But, yeah, maybe I'll check it out! I'm interested in the silly animal comedies of the '60s and '70s, but apparently not enough to watch the ones that I haven't watched yet.

NP. I actually saw Air Bud in the theater (rather begrudgingly might I add) as I was babysitting and that's what the kid wanted to see. It's not typically my kind of movie but I really enjoyed it at the theater and even moreso at home when I discovered my dad liked it as well. Now that I think about it, that's probably why I'm so attached now . . . memories of watching it with my dad.

I'd taped Flight of the Navigator off of Disney Channel in the late 80's after ages of drooling over the VHS cover that was available for rent at one of the local grocery stores (renting a video was a rare treat when I was a kid, maybe done only a couple of times a year, and was usually only reserved for animated films that my parents felt were too expensive to buy). It's very much an 80's movie and involves time travel, which is probably part of the reason I love it so much (I'm a huge Back to the Future geek, lol). I was in for a shock when I picked up the DVD, as I had no clue that the Disney Channel airing was edited for content! The swearing prevented me from sharing the movie with the kids I used to work with.

As for The Ugly Dachshund, I'm guessing I probably wouldn't be interested in it all now if I hadn't watched it as a kid. Like I said, it's a cute movie and all, plus I do like Dan Jones and Suzanne Pleshette. But all those 60's-70's era silly live-action movies from Disney kinda run together for me; fun to watch every once in a while but (in my opinion at least) not enough reason to own them.

I really have to be careful of what I buy anymore . . . my collection is running over and I still have a lot of unwrapped discs. It makes it hard to justify new purchases for me!

All that Disney releases? No way! There is to many bad or average movies and series in the Disney vault to buy them all just because Disney made them.

That being said, I collect all the classics, the Pixar-films, live action movies like Mary Poppins, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Chronicles of Narnia and Enchanted, and DVDs with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Winnie the Pooh & other Disney-characters (like House of Mouse, classic cartoons and movies like A Goofy Movie, Ducktales and The Tigger Movie).

I do not collect any Disney Channel crap like Hannah Montana, High School Musical, and I do not buy bad sequels to Disney animated classics.

Living in Norway, I think our view here on what "is" Disney are more "limited" compared to the USA. When talking about Disney in Norway, what comes to people's mind are animated classics, cartoons with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Winnie the Pooh, and perhaps a few big blockbuster-movies like Pirates of the Caribbean (if people in general have even noticed that this movies are Disney-movies). And many people will now sadly think about Hannah Montana when hearing the word Disney.

It seems like Disney-fans in America collects among a larger number of Disney-titles, that they are more into Disney live-action series and films made by Disney that we barely know excists here in Norway. I am now refering to movies and series like Parent Trap, Polyanna, Shaggy Dog, Escape to Witch Mountain, Once Upon a Mattress, etc, etc. I have the impression that the American Disney-fans have a more wide/broad interest in "all things Disney" compared to what we have here in Norway. And that is perhaps logical, since Walt was American and founded his company in America after all.

There are several views of what Disney is in America. The most common is similar to what Norwegians think of, which is Mickey Mouse, Animated classics, and some of the more famous live-action films, in addition to the parks. Here at Ultimate Disney, most of us are more die-hard Disney fans who have a much greater knowledge of what the company does and the more obscure films they have made. So I wouldn't take the typical conversation on UD as an indication of what the rest of America thinks when they hear the word Disney.

I read the post date of the OP and thought my car hit 88 miles per hour somewhere on the way home from class this evening. If only I could figure out how to produce 1.21 jigawatts.

What do I collect? All animated features including sequels that got theatrical releases. Excluding sequels that went straight to DVD. Also all Pixar.

As far as the live action stuff, just the favourites.

As for DisneyNature, I'll try to get them all as I like nature movies. So far just earth is out which I have the DVD/Blu combo of.

I mainly collect Disney dvd's I like (I like most of them) I still have a few video's that need replacement: Peter Pan, Alice in wonderland (I regret that I didn't get it when I got the chance, presently Alice is unavailable), Aristocats, The Fox and the Hound, The Rescuers, Melody Time, Robin Hood, Make Mine Music and Saludos Amigos (last three recorded from TV) but I don't make haste with them. I never got much interested in buying "home on the Range"or "Black Cauldron", so I still don't have them. DTV-sequels I don't buy, they're not "the real thing" to me
So I guess I'm not a completist.
But I do put my Disney dvd's in chronological order as much as possible-"Fun and Fancy free"comes before "Bambi"now, even though I don't consider them the same 'type'of movie.
I never buy a Disney movie I've not seen yet blindly on DVD - I rent them first. Still planning to do that with "Bolt".

I'm interested in Walt Disney's personal work, the films in all formats produced during his lifetime.

I have all the Disney Classics on DVD and I have doubled dipped on worth wild Special Editions as well. I have all the annimated sequels as well and all the lastest live actions that came out. I have been buying some of the live action films as well from the early beginning. I do want a complete set from what Walt did. I also have all the soundtracks to the annimated classics and sequels. Most on CD some I've downloaded with the extras as well. I love Disney Movies point blank!

No, I dont buy everything Disney.
I'm Only interested in Disney animated shorts (1920-1966+Mickey's Christmas Carol, The Prince and the Pauper, The Run a way Brain, and How to hook up your home theater (I would how ever consider DVD set of the post 1966 shorts)) since the root of Disney, what it is to day. But the only thing that downgrades the value of the Walt Disney Treasury sets is the incredible lacks of original titles. All almost all Black and White shorts have badly re-created titles, or Burlap openings (they are similar to Warner Bros blue Ribbons). All color shorts ether miss the name of United Artists Pictures or RKO Radio Pictures, both as Burlap openings and shorts that miss the name but still re-tain title arts (some are replica some are not).

I only buy Animated features as fillers, expect for feture made in 1937-1967 and The great Mouse Detective, DuckTales Movie, A Goofy Move and Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast and Lion King I like those.

I only buy Animated DTV as fillers, expect for Mickey, Donald, Goofy films, I like those.

I only buy animated shows that feature Donald Goofy, Mickey and Uncle Scrooge, Aladdin, Timon and Pumbaa and Gargoyles.

In the Live-action department I dont like any expect of Pirates of the Caribbean.

I've focused more on the traditional Walt animation pieces with a few exceptions (the 'package' titles like "Melody Time", plus "Jungle Book" which I've never quite warmed to). The live action titles are mainly the 1950s/60s/70s ones, and I'm still missing quite a few of those, so my collection is ongoing.

(I was trying to write a summary, but that was turning out to be super long, too, haha.)

So, an update to my long previous posts:
I put the majority of my live-action titles for sale on eBay (they're still listed in the Trade forum if anyone is still interested)- some of them, yes, occasionally I will watch, but for the most part, they're just sitting on my shelf. I'd like to catch up on the animated CD soundtracks, so I figured that I'll use some money I make on the DVDs (if they sell) and buy some CDs, which will get a lot of use).

I'm still torn on the sequels. I have Belle's Magical World up for sale. I can't part with Lady and the Tramp II, I don't think, since I do quite like it, and I don't think that I could part with Return to Never Land, either, since I do like that, too. I still have to watch Tinker Bell and Ariel's Beginning; I do quite enjoy TLM II, but maybe after watching TLM III, I'll have a better idea of whether or not to keep both. As far as the Stitch sequels, I'm thinking of selling them; I'll watch the TV show, but I don't care enough to watch the sequels, apparently. I don't care much for TJB2, but that was theatrical, just like Return to Never Land, so part of me almost feels like I need it, but I just had an epiphany: Doug's 1st Movie was also theatrical, and I've never seen that and am okay with that. With TLM II, also, I love the music in it, and that's almost reason enough to keep it (I eventually want to get soundtracks of the Disney movies I have, and I know that TLM II has a soundtrack CD, and I need the DVD if I have the CD!). As much as I love Brother Bear and Mandy Moore, I've only watched Brother Bear 2 once...I liked it, but I mean, I don't know if I need it. One might say, if you're not sure, just hold on to it, which I might do for the ones I'm unsure of. With the upcoming rerelease of Dumbo, I don't know if I'll need the 60th Anniversary DVD anymore, if the new one is superior in every way, but the darn Dumbo II preview is what's making me keep it, but I probably don't need that, especially with my current mindset, so should I sell Dumbo and rebuy it when it comes out? And what about Hercules- we know that a better edition will come out soon, so should I just sell it and rebuy the better edition when it comes out? As far as the Treasures go, I have my Annette Treasure up for sale, but I don't know about the others. I won't sell the Behind the Scenes one, but the 2 Mickey in B&Ws I could sell- I have them for the history aspect, but I don't watch them often; same for Oswald. I have Disney Rarities and haven't watched most of the shorts on it. I have the Wartime one, and I have the Classic Cartoon Favorites and Funny Factory...I need to decide if I want to keep shorts. I'd most likely keep the holiday short collections. Bobby did buy a bunch of the CCFs, though, so he wouldn't let me sell them, I'm sure. And, here my mind goes again, if I do sell the classic short DVDs (whether Treasures or not), will my kids grow up not knowing about Mickey and the other classic characters in terms of how they became famous (I mean, they'll grow up with Once Upon a Christmas, and the other features they're in, but still...ugh, my mind.

As for the original question this thread asks, I have all the animated classics and will always continue buying those- I enjoy each and every one of the animated classics (some more than others, of course). I have all the Pixar films, and am planning on continuing to buy their animated films- not so sure about the live-action films. I'm keeping my favorite live action titles, and also the musicals; the live action titles I'm keeping are:

A Christmas Carol- Obviously not out yet. I'm excited to see it in the theater. It is a Christmas movie, so if I love it, I'll buy it.

The Wild- I enjoyed it the one time that I watched it. Might be worth keeping.

Valiant- Saw it for free at the theater. It wasn't the best movie ever, but it was alright. Might not keep, though.

Pooh's Heffalump Movie- Will keep.

Teacher's Pet- Will keep.

Piglet's Big Movie- Will keep.

The Jungle Book 2- Leaning more towards no.

Return to Never Land- 99% sure I'm keeping.

Recess: School's Out- Never watched it. Already up for sale.

Tinker Bell and the whatever her new movie is called- Haven't watched the first one, so once I watch that, maybe I'll decide.

Princess Enchanted Tales- Watched once, already up for sale.

Ariel's Beginning- Haven't watched yet; need to watch before I decide.

The Return of Jafar- I love the 3rd movie in the series, and of course the first, but have never cared too much for this one, although I love "Forget About Love". Very torn about this. Is it wrong to own #1 and #3 but not #2? And my love for Jasmine is there, too (not including the Princess Enchanted Tales, I guess).

Aladdin and the King of Thieves- Definite keeper.

Pooh's Grand Adventure- The only time I watched this, I fell asleep, so I don't think I ever finished it. I've heard good things about it. Is it good enough that I should give it a second chance?

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas- Since it's Christmas and has some nice songs, I'll more than likely keep it. Even if Forte bothers me in all his CG <strike>unglory</strike> glory.

Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World- The one time I watched it, it made me sleepy, so I only watched 2 cartoons, maybe, and it made no lasting impression on me- I don't remember it. Already is up for sale. I don't feel bad about not having the 3rd in this series for some reason.

Pocahontas II- Another that I'm torn about. I like some of the music in it, and I like how Pocahontas goes to England. I like John Rolfe. I love John Smith in the first one, though, and he's different in this one, which bothers me to no end. Decisions, decisions.

The Lion King II- I'm kind of indifferent about this. I mean, I like it, but I hardly ever watch it. It's not one of my favorite sequels, but not one of my least favorites- I guess it's in the middle.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas- Will keep.

Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving- Never saw, don't own. Was thinking of buying it, but I won't now with my new mindset.

An Extremely Goofy Movie- I saw it once. It was pretty good, actually, but how often will I watch it? I'm torn on this one, too.

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command- Never watched, is up for sale.

The Little Mermaid II- I love the music in this movie very much. I do like the movie, but if the music were different, maybe I'd be more willing to part with it. Honestly, I just randomly sing songs...well, I do that anyway, but I mean from this movie, all the time. Just yesterday I was singing "Tip and Dash" in the bathroom.

Lady and the Tramp II- I can't see myself parting with this one. It's special to me for some reason. Probably because I bawl my eyes out while watching it. I do love it. I used to say that TLM II & this were tied for my favorite sequel, but I've been thinking about it, and I think this wins top place.

Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed In at the House of Mouse- I have it on VHS, never watched it...since it's Christmas, maybe I should watch it and if I love it, I can buy it on VHS.

Cinderella II- While I do enjoy the Baker story, I never watch this. Would it be wrong to have the original film and C III and not this one? What will my nonexistant-but potential children say about that? (Honestly, that thought is in my head about the whole situation...)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame II- I love the Jennifer Love Hewitt song. I do. But I never watched the whole film. The animation is quite poor, compared to the original film, which is breathtaking. Would sell if I do indeed sell my sequels, since I've never cared to watch the whole thing. Although I've always liked the idea of Quasi getting a girlfriend.

Tarzan and Jane- Watched it once. Love the Mandy Moore song at the end, but the movie is just blah, I think. All I remember is that there's a party at the end. Maybe I fell asleep the one time I watched this...? Probably would sell, but I do love Mandy Moore...(even though I have up for sale a few of her live-action titles that I never watch).

Mickey's House of Villains- I don't think that I've ever watched this, unless I saw it on TV or something once, but don't remember it. Is already up for sale.

Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year- Never saw, haven't bought.

101 Dalmatians II- Never cared to watch it. I watched one scene one time, of some song, but I haven't given it a chance. Is it worth watching?

Atlantis: Milo's Return- Another one I'm borderline on. I like it enough, but it's not nearly as good as the original film. I can't even remember anything that happens in it.

Stitch! The Movie- Watched it once. Don't really remember much, except for sandwiches? Would sell if I sold my sequels.

The Lion King 1 1/2- I actually do enjoy this. So I'd probably have to keep TLK 2 if I kept this. Uncle Max, Ma, and "Digga Tunnah" would be the reasons I would keep this.

Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo- I watched this when I bought it, and not since. I don't remember a thing about it. Would probably sell it?

The Three Musketeers- This was really well done. I don't think that I would sell this, even though I hardly watch it.

Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas- Will keep.

Mulan II- I watched this once or twice. I liked it enough, but it's not as good as the original. I'm sort of torn, but leaning more towards sell, since it's not one of my favorites.

The Fox and the Hound 2- Watched 2 or 3 scenes in it, ones with songs in them. Obviously not nearly as good as the original. I love the Lucas Grabeel song, and I do love Tod & Copper, but it is worth giving a chance to?

So, there's my super-de-dooper long post. 100 pink elephants to anyone who gives advice, because I need it. I could use the money on other things, but at the same time, this is Disney animation, with characters I love. Some of them, like the Stitch sequels, I've kind of made my mind on, in terms of if I sell any of my sequels, I'll sell those. I do enjoy the original film, don't get me wrong, but I just don't care enough about the sequels, I guess.

Why are you selling most of your collection though?

I have a few Disney movies that I own on DVD that I either do not really like much or have not seen at all

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Have not watched yet.
Atlantis the Lost Empire - Saw it once. Found it mediocre. Got it off DMC.
Bedknobs and Broomsicks - Have not watched. Got it for points.
Brother Bear - Have not watched. Got it of DMC.
Darby O'Gill and the Little People - Have not seen. Got it for points.
Ducktales the Movie - Have not watched. Got it as a DMR reward.
Home on the Range - Have not seen. Got it for DMR points.
The Love Bug - Have not watched. Got it for DMR points.
Pete's Dragon- Have not watched. Got it for DMR points.
Pocahontas - My least favorite Disney film. Got it for DMR points.
Tarzan - Only seen bits and pieces of it. Got it off DMC.
The Wild - Rented it once, but did not finish it. Got it off DMC.
Treasure Island - Have not watched.
Tron - Have not watched. Got it for DMR points.

I'm selling what I don't watch. Or, DVDs that I've watched once or twice. Even if it's a movie I grew up watching on TV or through rentals (such as Tom and Huck and Jungle 2 Jungle, movies that I do like, if I only watched them once or never watched them, they're being wasted on my shelf. Yes, some day I might want to watch them... I've been doing this with my books and CDs, too, just kind of purging what I don't want to a) save room, and b) make some money back that I can use towards other things that I want more.

When I want to watch a Disney movie, usually I want to watch the animated classics or a favorite live-action title. I just have so many DVDs and if I don't watch them, why bother keeping them when I can just sell them?
