I don't really get why everyone is so disappointed by this. So what if Disney is releasing The Tick to DVD? I know that it's not a Disney animated show, but hey, once it's released, that'll be the end of it, so everybody's happy. I personally don't mind that Disney is releasing it right now, even though I'd prefer a few other shows first. And yes, I imagine that there's a pretty big demand for The Tick. It was a very popular show.

The way I see it, Disney will most likely release all of them eventually, so there's no need to complain. Plus, at the rate they're going, they'll all be released in no time.

So yeah. Darkwing Duck and The Tick. Pretty cool. As long as they're actual sets, and not "best of" DVDs, I'm happy.

Darkwing Duck is ok but I never liked The Tick. I was very much hoping for Gummi Bears and/or Tailspin. maybe next time. Hopefully they are still planning on doing volume 2 of DuckTales and Chip and Dale.

Also, Can Someone please clear up the Disney Afternoon on DVD Edits dichotomy once and for all? A Friend of Mine (John Pannozzi) has quoted a friend of his (a DarthGonzo) that the Ducktales and Rescue Rangers sets contain edits made by Toon Disney Post-2001 (Darth says that it's common knowledge that the sets are edited, but i don't think he's ever said anything about owning or watching the sets himself, and i've never heard about the edits from any other source) and now he's preemptively predicting that the same is very likely, if not inevitable, to happen to Darkwing Duck.

Also, I'm curious as to how Disney is going to handle The Tick" since it only had a 36-episode run? Would they better off offering the complete series on a 4-disc set, 2 18-epsisode 2-disc sets, or another release type?

I agree. The Tick may not be "popular" but it is a cult show, which still has a large following in all of its multiple-media incarnations. In fact, I think when the Amazon sales ranks come up, you'll be surprised to see the Tick outselling Darkwing Duck.

The Tick is an independent comic book surreal spoof about superheroes, including the main character "The Tick" who is high on muscle, but low on brainpower. In fact, he's clearly insane.

The Tick's main battlecry is "Spoooooon!" - which let's face it - alone makes it a work of genius. It's the best catchphrase ever. Other characters include the criminal mastermind Chairface Chippendale (his head is a chair - I assume this is a Dick Tracy spoof), Bi-polar Bear (Hero), The Breadmaster (baking based supervillain), The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight (who is an Evil Midnight Bomber what bombs at midnight) and best of all Die Fledermaus - a Batman spoof (or Die Fainter-Mouse as he's sometimes known, because he's so cowardly). Oh, and there's also a villain who claims to be called the Tick too (but is otherwise known as Barry).

Arthur is the Tick's side-kick and voice of reason is a man who is an accountant (and also a flying mothman, often mistaken for a bunny).

It's had a long life, going from low selling comic, to mainstream success with several collections printed. Also later it was picked up by Fox as an animated series (the series in question is coming to DVD). This was reasonably true to the comic, but serveral changes were made for audience suitability and legal reasons. Most importantly, the humour style was retained. Some lines still make me giggle like a vapid schoolgirl. Later there was a short lived Live-Action TV show, starring Patrick "Kronk" Warburton as the Tick, which in my mind was not as successful a translation. This too is available on DVD. (It picks up towards the end of its short run, but by then it was already cancelled )

The creator Ben England was hand-picked by Joss Wheldon to write for Angel, and I believe as well as writing the odd Tick comic, he is still working with Wheldon on other film and TV projects.

As you can see, it makes sense to release this with Darkwing Duck, another comic book spoof series.

That actually sounds pretty funny. Perhaps I'll have to give it a try at some point. (I still would prefer "Gummi Bears" )

It's def. hit or miss.

I'm looking forward to the release of Darkwing Duck. I'll be picking Darkwing up,
as long as it is more than 3 episodes. I'm not a fan of The Tick, so I want be getting that one.

The Tick is such a waste of a release, they should release Gummi Bears, or Talespin instead.

The Tick is a way better choice than Gummi Bears. Very intelligent. Lets face it, Gummi bears is way down the release order. Lots more recognizable characters that will come first.

Well that's a matter of opinion. I've seen both show and The Tick can no where near compare to Gummi Bears. Gummi Bears was the first show of its kind. Not only was it the first Disney show, but the first cartoon that did was not used just to sponsor a toy.

What! No it didnt! That's just what they want you to think!

Hopefully with the Tick coming out Disney and Buena Vista can release the Digimon Movies 4-7. They dubbed them plus aired on thier networks except The Disney Channel for probably obvious reasons or maybe Season 4 but i would doubt 4. As for the Tick i enjoy the show it's funny with The Tick having no alter ego besides The Tick hehe, also Those Superhero's that are in there were funny so was Arthur, The Tick's Sidekick. Btw the only reason i watch the show is if there is nothing on at 11:00 a.m. est on ABC Family Saturday or Sunday. I must admit i'm shocked The Tick albeit airing on TV got a release before Kong The Animated Series as a movie tie in with Jackson's coming out in March or May it is, same with Digimon Movies or Season 4.

As for the Darkwing i still have the Megavolt toy, so i'm not really surprised it's on DVD being with hopefully the impending release of Tail Spin sometime next year and maybe 101 Dalmatians next year both to go along with The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians movies if were lucky.
