Gorgeous. The woods remind me of Sleeping Beauty.

Thanks for posting those covers! :) The cover for the Art of-book was truly gorgeous. And Asha definitively looks African in the second cover.

Which is the same movie with the same aspect ratio that Wish will be formatted in... CinemaScope, which is why I think they should give it a release in IMAX.

Oh, I hope it does get an IMAX release. I would definitely see this one in IMAX if that was an option.

It's true; they remind of Sleeping Beauty too. The concept art looks a bit like the still below in particular. Even Asha's pose and placement within the frame are similar to Aurora's, and she's also wearing a shawl. Maybe it's another reference to a Disney classic.

Oh, good point, I didn't even think about her pose, it is very similar!

Ariana DeBose gives some none-specific comments about her role in Wish.

https://etcanada.com/news/998057/ariana ... neys-wish/
“Even with the tumultuous times that we live in and with all the anti-LGBTQ+ hate legislation, what’s going on in Florida, they’ve stood by me,” the actress said of Disney. “They’ve allowed me to be a real partner in the making of this movie. If I can create a great working environment and be a part of the positive things that are going on, that makes more room for other people who look like me, who identify like me to come in and do the same.”

In celebration of 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios, the event will enjoy several delights including:

• An all-new short from Walt Disney Animation Studio directed by Trent Correy and Dan Abraham screened during the Opening Ceremony.
• Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee returns to Annecy to share details about the all-new original feature film Wish, for which she is both Executive Producer and a writer on the project.
• Fantasia 2000, directed by Eric Goldberg, Pixote Hunt, Hendel Butoy
• Jennifer Lee and Eric Goldberg will present a special screening of “Fantasia 2000”

The new WDAS short will be screened today at Annecy during the opening ceremony. It'll be interesting to know what it's about. I think we don't even know that right now. I wonder if they've planned something special since it's the studio's 100th anniversary this year. Could it star one of Disney's classic characters like they did with Mickey in Get a Horse? Wish's presentation will take place next Friday.

Hopefully the short is hand-drawn animated.

Anyway, if anyone is at the Annecy Festival, anyone that we in these forums know, someone has to get whoever we know there to go to the Wish panel to ask Jennifer Lee if the Tiana Disney+ series will indeed be hand-drawn animated as it has been reportedly said to be for a long time.

That would be amazing. I think a hybrid style like Wish's is more likely, but we'll see.

Not liking the style of the animation. It looks even more generic than Chip`n Dale Rescue Rangers.

Looks like we have three straight sources saying Wish is really good/really great.

First it was Grace Randolph: https://twitter.com/gracerandolph/statu ... 94659?s=46.

Then it was Big Screen Leaks: https://twitter.com/bigscreenleaks/stat ... 50784?s=46.

Now ViewerAnon is the third, straight source in a row to say Wish is really good: https://twitter.com/vieweranon/status/1 ... 19744?s=46.

I gotta say, for all the people who are hesitant about Wish (despite it looking like it’ll be the Disney film many have wanted to see the studio go back to making since The Princess and the Frog and Tangled), it looks like they’re making a mistake being that way.

Not sure how they can know that considering the film isn't done yet. Anyway all three of them are positive about anything Disney releases so their words don't really mean anything to me

Actually, not all of them are all positive on all things Disney. ViewerAnon thinks Avengers: Infinity War wasn’t that good and despite Skyler Shuler hearing Haunted Mansion tested well, VA heard opposite but he thought the new trailer was good and felt things may have changed in the editing room to make it a better movie. So, we’ll see.

Also, they probably know Wish is good because of a little something called… work-in-progress test screenings, which is why Cryptic HD Quality recently posted this week that the current runtime for Wish (which might be without the end credits) is 1 hour and 29 minutes: https://twitter.com/cryptic4kqual/statu ... 68353?s=46.

I dont fully agree but I totally respect and see your point! While I dont think it looks worse than C&D, it DOES look somehow cheap. People in the media compared it with Disney Junior Animation (and i agree) becuase for me it just looks like a cheap attempt to promote it as a "homage of classic handdrawn Disney" but I really cant see the 2d in it. It just seems like a general 3d movie with a cheap layout that has NOTHING to do with handdrawn animation, its just the fanservice for people wanting Disney to do a 2d movie again  .There is nothing groundbreaking or new with this animation, its just Disneys responds to all the hype and trendsetting the Spiderverse movies sent out, which are GREAT. Spiderverses Animation really feels fresh, handdrawn, personal and handcrafted, especially the 2nd. I saw Across the Spiderverse this Saturday in theatres and it was PHENOMENAL! Aside of its great characters and story, in just this movie there were several groundbreaking Artstyles which were new to the medium, for example a few scenes that looked like watercolors :) , while Wish didnt offer something new visually, it did remind me of these Tiktok edits where they put some filter over 3d movie scenes to look "handdrawn" and to think Tiktokers can dublicate the exact look of Wish, huge respect! :pink:
