Are you talking about slave2moonlight not believing Mr. Potato-head was out yet? If so, different guy. I appreciate you having me back, but these are two separate things here.
That said, I'll echo your main point, it clearly says "Toy Story Collection" right there on the box, you cant miss it. the low end model looks nothing like this. And as we all know, the eyes are joined regardless of what potato-head you buy.

The other guy, my mistake! I apologize. You may "cyber" punch me in the face, haha.
I WISH it were a low end model, then it wouldnt have the un-neccesary electronics.

Well, I don't have him yet, was just going on a description. When I manage to find one I'll give you the run down on how to do it.
But from what I understand, not only is it hard to screw up, its also reversable.
Reversible? Okay, I'll definitely need to hear the explanation of how that is done.

Well, to an extent I mean. Think of the "legs" as stilts. you can remove them altogether, and just have the potato sit on the shoes like he is in the picture, (though Im guessing he wont "rock" in this state) and then re attach with screws (reversing it) if you want from there. Of course, if you want to get the rocking motion back, and still have short legs, the legs/sticks need to be shortened and re attached. That's the part that wont be reversible. Not as easily anyway. Some might not even find this part necessary though.
I might be content with just having him sit on the shoes myself. I'm not sure I have a decent cutting tool to actually shorten them in a professional way. We'll see though.

But I think the shoes and the legs are one solid piece of blue plastic each (leg and shoe, leg and shoe). I would have to double check on that, but that's why I'd think it'd require some cutting no matter what. If that's not the case though, yeah, I'd probably lower him too. But, if it involves cutting no matter what, that's where I'm not willing to mess with it, because I too don't think I have a decent cutting tool and I'm not sure they come on and off as simply as screwing and unscrewing stuff either...
ANYWHO, I went to the Disney Store today and got one of those sweet Hamm piggy banks! They didn't have any on the shelf, but I asked a girl there and she knew exactly what I was talking about and got me one from the back. Very awesome with the real cork and all! Totally ceramic, as I always assumed Hamm was. I just wish I had somewhere to put him at the moment. Been getting a lot of ceramic things lately and I have no space at the moment, ha. But, yeah, very cool, especially for the price. I guess I will probably get a Slinky Dog soon too, since I really want that character and it seems unlikely he'll get a TSC version. I'll be annoyed if I have to rebuy these two later though because of more accurate versions coming out (but I doubt I'll have to rebuy Hamm). If I get Slinky and the TSC Jessie and Bullseye, I'll be content with my collection. Still would get any other TSC characters they release probably, and still might seek out Tour Guide Barbie (wish I got her way back when) and maybe Etch and a few others, but I'll be content anyway, whether I get more or not. Do wish they would make a real Bo Peep lamp though.
But I still need to get that Luxo Jr. lamp.
Two questions though: First, I know it's been said here that all the Slinky Dogs out there are the same, but does that mean that the Disney Store one and the one I've seen at other stores in a retro style packaging are BOTH exactly the same? And even the ones in Toy Story packaging but different from the Disney Store packaging? All those variations are the same exactly? And in regards to Etch, I used to have one as a kid, but I always remembered it being larger than the ones I see out now. Maybe it's just because I was smaller, but what does everyone else think. Are the Toy Story Etch a Sketches out there nowadays the accurate, original size they are supposed to be? I also saw the Fisher Price telephone at Disney Store that is out for Toy Story 3. Turns out it has Woody and Buzz on it and is obviously not a good replica, but the one at Target is designed to look really old fashioned. I wonder if either can be considered film accurate. I'm not super interested in getting that character though. More than anything, I want the more original characters, with the exception of major ones like Potato and Slink...

Okay, my local Toys 'R Us had PLENTY of Mr. Potato Heads in. I picked one up and MAN you guys weren't kidding, you need a small army to get that thing open. Holy cow.
I also stopped by my Disney Store and they had ONE Hamm left! The thing is gorgeous -- to me, he fits more of the Toy Story Collection definition than the real line does. It's just Hamm with no over-the-top electronics and he was just sitting there on the shelf in no packaging like real piggy banks are. He looks FANTASTIC and has a real cork!!
I'm excited to add these two to the collection. Maybe I can put some pics up later.

I dont think thats how it is though.
the guy said he still needs to shorten the legs, Im assuming no cutting has been done yet.
this is what it looks like after the legs are unscrewed, before you set the potato on the shoes .
Definetly looks like the legs are separate pieces already, just held together with screws.
Edit: Yeah, he just PM'd me to tell you he hadnt done any cutting at all yet when those pics were taken. He says he has shorten them now though, so I guess expect pics of the final result soon.
About the slinky dog, turns out Tyler (and me since I was only echoing him) was misinformed. there seems to be 2 slinky dogs, as seen here.

of course, both still have the string between the eyes, but there are two. and the one on the right is noticeably more accurate, but its also the one most of us have already seen.

I found Mr. Potato Head at Toys R Us today! He's totally awesome! There were only two there when I went, though.
I'm gonna have to check Disney Store on tuesday for Hamm.

Just walked out of the Disney store with Hamm.
They never have anything good, (not a thing from the toy story collection) so I was pretty shocked to see 4 of these in stock. Quick shot from my phone.

will take better one when I get home later.

How Much was he? and is he part of the Toy Story Collection? If he's just a regualar piggy bank and has a cork....I might buy this one...I need a Piggy bank so why not be Hamm about it?

Hamm is not officially part of Toy Story collection line, he is however accurate and in scale with the rest. Theres no extra gimmicks, he's a bank with a cork, 20 bucks.
