Good stuff.
Is that the original movie, or one of the animated ones?

=====

Also, I'm curious about that Pink Panther vol. 5 people have been getting. Is that included in the 5-disc set of Pink Panther cartoons?

No the five disc set has only Vol. 1-4 being the same as the discs 1-4 on the set so you miss out on a bunch of cartoons & extras if you buy them individually. Vol. 5 is a DVD with all the 17 The Ant and the Aardvark cartoons (only one of which has been on DVD before.)

Hmmm.... I wonder if they will do a second box set, either with the contents of the first one plus this, or with the future volumes... I heard there are several more characters that could be released.

Popped my head into my local JB Hi-Fi last night to pick up a copy of CASINO ROYALE (2006), and came away with that; CINDERELLA III; THE FOX & THE HOUND 2 and (because it was sitting at the counter and on-special) SNAKES ON A PLANE.

I am weak, but that's it until Twin Peaks S2 comes out here in a few weeks, and then I'm done until June!

I haven't done this for a while, so rather than play catch-up I'll start with yesterday's and today's arrivals:

Image
Doctor Who: The Runaway Bride
The 2006 Christmas Day Special, along with the 1 hour Doctor Who Confidential also shown on Christmas Day Music and Monsters. Originally this was to include the full Doctor Who Children-In-Need Concert too, but this was dropped.

Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV Series 1 & 2
Boy do I feel old seeing this. First shown on TV over 20 years ago, I can remember some moments in them as clear as yesterday. Victoria has a talent for dialogue and these shows are treasures. Each and every one. A Bargain.

The Brady Bunch: The Complete Series
Well, we'll ignore the fact that I already have S1-5 in the individual season set releases and discuss this package on its own merits.

It's crap. Well, no, that's a little unfair, but it fails to impress. The package itself is nothing more than cheap, somewhat flimsy cardboard. Inside there are no cases, just a book (cut out like half a flower) with a disc resting inbetween each page. Not even a hubs to hold them in place. The result it when you take the inner packaging out, you have to be careful not to spill the discs all over the floor! The Shag carpet is just a gimmick, and I don't think it works. I genuinely found the animated leticular covers to the season sets more attractive and inventive.

Considering Paramount know "fans" will have already bought the season sets, the bonus disc is a little weak too. You know, with 49 hours, 41 minutes of Brady Bunch goodness, you'd expect a little more thrown in, especially for the double dippers, than a single disc. Why not the movies? Why not more cartoons or more spin-offs?

Speaking from experience, netty?

Can you take a few pics of the packaging so I can see if it's worth getting the series boxset or the individual seasons?

I dunno...maybe the world isn't ready yet to be re-introduced to The Brady Bunch Variety Hour or The Brady Brides... :P

Still, I would have liked to have seen The Bradys get its own DVD release with the Christmas movie.

Anyway, I haven't done anything within this thread since like...January, so a recap of all the DVDs I've acquired in February, March, and now...

Review DVDs:
It's A Small World of Fun! Volume 3 - February 6, 2007
Little Einsteins: Legend of the Golden Pyramid - February 21, 2007
Jump In!: Freestyle Edition - March 24, 2007

Bought at Wally-World for $4.88 in early February:
A New Kind of Love - February 8, 2007
This Property is Condemned - February 8, 2007

Obligatory Platinum Edition Purchase in early March:
Peter Pan: Platinum Edition - March 11, 2007

DVDs I actually looked forward to picking up and have gone through them already except for the last (mainly due to lack of time, not lack of interest):
Doctor Who: Genesis of the Daleks - The Tom Baker Years - February 6, 2007
Doctor Who: City of Death - The Tom Baker Years - February 6, 2007
Doctor Who: The Invasion - The Patrick Troughton Years - March 15, 2007
Doctor Who: The Sontaran Experiment - The Tom Baker Years - March 15, 2007

A surprise that came in the mail today, for which I am still drooling and gawking over and I will forever be thankful to a certain Snickers-eating Jackie-Tyler-loving almost-as-fun-as-Jane-Christie-on-paracetamol Whovian:
Doctor Who: The Complete First Series

Its pretty good as far as animated features go. The only disappointing part is the ending. Rent it first to see if you like it enough to buy it.

Sorry, no pictures. My cheap camera has "bricked". However, I will repeat again, the package is weak, ill-conceived and cheap. It really should have been better. I'll add that now I've had a better look a few of the discs have glue-resin stuck to them from the book binding. Reviews on Amazon also critisise the packaging:
What rubbish packaging, Amazon customers say in one voice - well, 2 out of 3 so far

I believe the complete series set is cheaper than individual season set purchases and it also has the bonus disc. It really depends how important you desire the high of a 48 minute drug-free hallucinogenic experience (yes, I'm talking about The Brady Kids cartoons on the bonus disc)

Happy Feet

I got it as a Easter present, which is weird because my family doesn't normally give Easter presents. The movie was pretty good, and of course the baby penguins were adroable. The DVD however wasn't as spectacular as it should be for just winning the "best animated film" award. But, I'm still happy with it, so what else can I do.

The Amazing Panda Adventure

It came with HF, from Wally World (Wal-Mart), and it brought back some memories. I used to watch this show all the time as a kid, and even though the DVD is in Fullscreen, it was a joy to watch again. I guess I didn't realize that the pandas were, most of the time, puppets, or a man in a panda suit (), there were noticable to me now. Again, not much of a DVD but as long as the movie is there, I'm satisfied.
