Great find jrboy. I really like this cover. Bagheera is on it! That was my biggest peeve about the old cover art-no Bagheera. This seems to be one of Disney's best covers. I just hate the giant "40", it should be included in the "Anniversary" banner.

That's not something recently added. The majority of the Platinum covers have light descending on or near the characters. The only exceptions are Beauty and the Beast and Bambi.
umm beauty and the beast also has light descending on it so i guess bambi would be the only one with out it!!

I really like the new cover art. I, along with many other UDers, am really happy to see that Bagherra has been added to the cover. I can't believe they even considered a cover art that featured random monkeys and without him on it. Though I do like the new cover art, I wish Mowgli were playing with Baloo rather than King Louie, but it is still an improvement in my eyes. Great find.

I actually really like this cover. One of the best so far, comparing it to the other covers this one really stands out. I also agree with DisneyKid about the 40 Anniversary logo. It doesnt bother me having it there but they should make some drastic arranges. Overall awesome cover!

I really like the new cover, much better than the older one. This is one of my favourite Disney films, really glad that it's coming to DVD so quickly. Also, just wondering, but is it set in stone that the Jonas Brothers video clip is going ot be the one on the DVD? Because I really don't want it to be. I've never seen them before, never heard their music, and didn't even know they'd done a cover of this song. Has anyone seen the clip yet? Is it good enough to be on the DVD?

So far it's only been reported via BVHE UK, and given that netty and ichabod complain weekly about how unreliable they are, it's pretty much a 50/50 chance.

No teenybopper butchering-slash-cover of a Disney song should ever be on a serious DVD release of a Disney Animated Classic, but Jonas Brothers are a pretty okay group to have a music video release of. They had previously done "Poor Unfortunate Souls", but unfortunately, Tisdale's "Kiss the Girl" Music Video got the spot on the DVD while their music video was relegated to the CD-ROM supplements of
The Little Mermaid's two-disc SE soundtrack.
Also, they contributed to the growing list of covers for "Kids in America" with
Meet the Robinsons's slightly-tweaked "Kids of the Future". I haven't heard their version of "I Wanna Be Like You", but I don't really care much for that song either, so a cover may be an improvement for me.

Jonas Brothers aren't bad, as pop groups favored by Disney go. They're talented, nice to look at, and have a charmingly spastic performance technique.

I had a feeling the Jonas Bros were gon'na end up on the dvd, the remake of I Wan'na Be Like You is really upbeat, alt. Rock/Punk, echos some of Smash Mouth's style but it's different in its own way. Can't hold my excitment any longer and it's only April.

I love it personally. I bought Robin Hood (which I know is not a Platinum but does have that light beam shining on the protagonists) almost exclusively because of the great cover. It's hard to tell right now, but I do enjoy this new cover (even if I liked the old one too). The only problem really is Baloo on the spine which makes little sense.

I REALLY like the new organization of characters! However, is it just me, or is Bagheera really off model? (It's kind of hard to see in such a small picture!). I'm also a little bothered by the big "40TH" on the cover. But I do understand why Baloo is on the spine: He's the character all non-Disney fanatics remember about TJB. Or, the most memorable/lovable character in the film by far. I've talked to MANY people about Jungle Book, and most said they only remembered Baloo and "Bare Necessities" of the entire film!

Oh okay, thanks for that info guys, esp. Escapay.

Great info there. Hopefully they do a good job of the song.

That is a great cover, more creative, original, and the characters arein model. The one thing besides the huge 40 is that it is unballanced with the large main figures on the right in darkness, while the small minor characters are on the left in light. They are besides the title the first things that will probably be noticed. It might be fixed by putting Loie on the other side

If it was available to pre-order, I am sure that they would've said something about it on this website.
In other words, no its not ready to reserve yet.

Pre-orders start about 3 months before the movie is released, so we can expect the pre-order to start in July.
Pre-orders, at least in my area, have been selling out lately, so no way they'd start them 6 moths ahead of time.

Speaking of pre-ordering, what is everyone anticipating/hoping for in terms of retailer exclusives? For the most part, I think Best Buy usually offers the best gift with purchases. I have a feeling one of the stores will carry a lithograph. I guess plushes could be mae of Baloo, Baghera, and King Louie, though I doubt it. I don't think they would turn out well.
Anyway, what are your thoughts or ideas?

Well, since I'm sure they won't appear in the regular two-disc, I wouldn't mind if a store-exclusive bonus DVD (possibly Target or BestBuy) includes the two old 1997 featurettes:
-The Making of a Musical Masterpiece (15 minutes)
-Frank & Ollie Discuss Character Animation (5 minutes?)
