I bet both Ariel's fins and that blue dress will look better in the movie, but from the movie clips and pics, I will like both.

What are those designs on Ariel's forehead, in the Funko figurines? Is that supposed to be part of her hair?

First image of Sebastian:
In the picture he looks pretty bad. I really hope in the movie, he will look better. Same with Flounder. I can't picture a crab like this beginning to sing Under the Sea or Kiss the Girl.

First official look at the Ariel doll by Mattel (more images on the link). Halle Bailey has also shared a
video presenting it.

That's beautiful. But it's strange that she doesn't have a more expressive face, as in the animated movie.

Halle Bailey talks about Ursula in a new interview:
"People are gonna be so amazed [by] her job [playing] Ursula," the singer shared. "First of all, she's a beautiful human being, so talented, and the way she just consumes Ursula is so beautiful. I'm just so proud of her and I can't wait for people to see it."
Bailey told ET that McCarthy's natural warmth added a layer of nuance to her wickedness in the film. "She has this very kind of maternal trickiness to her when it comes to tricking Ariel in the film, so I got to be consumed in her world and falling into her spell," she explained. "It wasn't so much like mean, mean. It was like [Ariel] looking for a maternal figure."

Also, apparently a person who interviewed the film's costume designer posted a photo on her Instagram stories where we can see some of the costumes, but the quality of the picture is quite bad:

And here are more
doll leaks, including our first look at the faces of the Eric, Triton and Vanessa dolls.
Edit: At first I also posted images of the leaked dolls, but I've decided to remove them in case there are problems with Mattel again. Anyway, you can still see the pictures in the video, which hasn't been taken down yet (at least it wasn't when I wrote this).

Well, I don't think that's a still from the movie but most likely a photo taken in a studio to use in promotional material like
these ones they made for
Cinderella.

A little bit. Perhaps she`s not identical, but she does resemble Beyoncé a bit
I forgot to reply to this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw some resemblance between the two.

The Barbie doll is much like the Mattel doll--with both of them the tail looks better than it actually is in the movie clips / on the poster, imo.
I'm a casual fan of both, but I think Bailey is prettier than Beyonce, personally.

Yeah, it looks like "baby hairs" to me...which I don't remember seeing in pics of Halle as Ariel.

True, but still. Weird she's looking upwards...maybe in the movie, Eric is up on a cliff.

Tbh after seeing folks on twitter are already saying she is much better than the original and destroyed Jodi Benson I need to rant somewhere I'm not feeling the voice acting lol. I get prioritising the vocals in a broadway show but in a live action? I wonder if the leaked poyw and the leaked reprise will be the same in the final movie.

I've witnessed people saying the exact same thing the minute the casting of Halle was announced and before we knew anything else about the remake. It's purely an ideological-based reaction and you shouldn't take it seriously.

More leaked merch:

I don't remember if Max was confirmed to be in the movie or not. If he wasn't already, the second set confirms his inclusion. Flotsam and Jetsam haven't appeared anywhere yet, thought. It seems the fork Ariel uses to comb her hair will be in the movie too.
Here's also a German
commercial featuring the Ariel doll by Mattel.

I wasn't saying Halle looks like Beyoncé, I was talking about this
book cover where in my opinion she looks a bit like her. But that was posted long ago; it's not strange you didn't remember that.

That's true, but maybe they weren't trying to totally replicate that shot. After all, the water crashing on the rock is not behind Ariel like in the original but in front of her. We'll see what that scene looks like in the actual movie. By the way, this is the
original source of that image (at the bottom of the page).

I agree. Halle Bailey's one of the better cover versions out there, but better than Jodi....? Laughable. I'd put Bailey below most of the best princess voices (Benson, Kuhn, Menzel, ANR, even Bell has an overall prettier voice to me) and Benson is far and away the best of those, but I do like Bailey's voice on its own merits.
That said, I don't like that they changed the key of the reprise for her or for Boggess before her. If she was singing "Colors of the Wind" or "Let It Go," she could belt full-way through to her heart's content, but POYW and its reprise aren't like those two songs.

Sotiris, Disney's Divinity,
Lol yeah sorry for the rant.
The little mermaid is my favorite disney movie so I guess I'm too attached to the original so I find myself comparing every little thing unlike other live actions, and get more negative with every leak and new detail lol. I should probably skip it or take a break
Thanks anyway for this thread it was fun to follow your discussions even if I lurked 99.99% of the time

Toy Max looks cute... he'll probably be played by a real dog, right, not CG?

Why does the poster look like Ariel in the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust? Maybe radiation exposure is why her tail looks so enormous and worm-like. No idea why they didn't make it come in narrower at the fins considering it's all CGI anyway.

I mean ... the remakes are playing with very personal emotions. We're all bound to have intense reactions. Take a break if you think it'll be good for you, but as long as you're still playing nice with everyone else, you're welcome to share your perspective.
And I actually really like that poster. It's nice to see the film also playing with a more natural and subdued color palette instead of purely neon and candy colors.

Something about it keeps giving me stop-motion /
James and the Giant Peach vibes. It is better than the first poster, that's something. That thing was hideous.
Still, compare this to the gorgeous poster for B&tB 2017 that focused on the rose in the glass.

It's like they had to draw the camera out as far as possible and make the scene dark enough just for it to not look completely terrible.

Wow, what a beautiful poster. Like a work of art. Sort of like a sunlit version of the iconic yellow moon poster, too.
