I agree… I think it would have worked better if they had just recreated her original look.

I understand that they wanted the pink version but I think that Disney wanted to make Cinderella in her ballgown to give the fans that couldn't get the Saks version the chance to have a doll with this gown.
Yeah, I’ve never really liked her pink dress. I’m sure the Disney Store could make a beautiful version of it though— I love the D23 Ariel pink dress, for example, whereas I don’t care for the movie version. But yes, the Saks Cinderella is a holy grail for me and since I will probably never own it, this Cindy might be a good compromise. But I need better pictures before I decide!

I think that she's going to look great. The shape of the dress reminds me to the art made by Mary Blair
I also love the fact that the embroidery from the skirt looks like magic, like magic dust. The gloves looks like if they didn't cover the hand made with a transparent fabric. They remind me to the one that we can see in old Sissi's films:

Thumper and Brelly, I actually have always loved Cindy's pink mice dress. Especially the way it looked in the shot of it hanging in her screen (it was better designed there...lol). But Disney Store did do a great version of it, for the Fairytale Designer series. I own that. I also own the Saks doll. Hearing that it is a holy grail of Cindy dolls and rare and what fans wish they had makes me so glad I have it. It is definitely my favorite doll I own, most especially for the great way they did her hair and the bluish silver dress with "jewels". Even the bustle is close to the film. I hope this 75th doll pleases fans who wish they had the Saks doll. I did not realize till now, Thumper, that this 75th doll's overskirt is like the magic fairy dust. Hm. Well, with better pictures, maybe I will nab her after all! Please God don't let her be too expensive!

I'm the opposite. I like Ariel's pink dress from the movie but maybe more because I like the color than because I like the shape of her dress. But the doll I thought was kinda ugly especially the weird pattern at the bottom of the dress. It ruined the look for me. On the other hand I love Cinderella's pink dress. I loved how girly and frilly it was with bows and sashes and her hair being down. The turquoise beads gave it just the right touch to quote the stepmother. A nice splash of color to pop in front of all that pink and white.

I do love the silver, and after her 4K her hair is actually a brownish golden, so the colors look good. I love her from the waist up, but I am not too sure how I feel about what looks like a big, curved overskirt to mimic her bustle. Also, does she have transparent gloves? I do not know if I will buy this doll. I need to see better pictures. Thank you for sharing the pictures,
Brelly!
Lavendergolden, I don't mind them changing her bangs because these dolls are supposed to change a lot from the original designs as new interpretations and different forms of what we know and love. Also, I like the current way dolls are today as opposed to the Mattel ones because I feel they get more creative today. Even the current cheap play dolls that are supposed to look exactly like the film are better than the old ones that were play dolls, except I do like the Mattel Signature Cinderella more than any play doll made today or older.
Some people on Instagram are saying her hair is too strawberry blonde/orange and should be more golden brown. I can see it now.
Maybe but I feel her hairstyle is so signature that it's weird to change the bangs. Like getting rid of Aurora's curly bangs or getting rid of Ariel's fringe. Like they don't look like themselves then. See this previous Aurora doll and while she's pretty, changing her bangs makes her look too modern and unlike herself. If the DPs looked like themselves on a regular basis in merch, maybe I wouldn't mind but since they usually have the wrong colors or are badly drawn, I feel we should hold onto their original looks as much as possible.
Oh wow do you really think the new DP dolls are more creative? I feel all these Disney Store ones tend to look the same. Very long lashes and similar makeup on all them. And I think the cheap playline dolls look way too cheap. The original Mattel ones weren't 100% in accuracy but they didn't feel cheap or basic. Yes the Signature Cinderella doll is a classic. Even if her hair bun is too poofy lol.

I understand the Saks Cinderella doll is amazing, but it's weird to me it's so sought after now because I remember Saks had to keep lowering its price to sell it.
I agree, Lavendergolden, I like Cinderella's colors being blue and pink. I like Ariel's pink dress, but only on her. I love the D23 Ariel pink dress doll. Cinderella's pink dress, yeah all the stuff you said about it I love. Cinderella's hair is sometimes golden blonde and sometimes strawberry blonde in the latest restoration of the film. I don't need the character's to keep everything about their hair or clothes in the reimagined dolls. I think Disney got more creative with their hair and outfits since they started making 17" dolls. Occasionally earlier ones were creative. I don't notice their makeup looking the same, I look at their hair and clothes. I don't feel the play dolls are cheap today or in the 90s. I like even Signature Cinderella's big hair. The doll actually is not that accurate to the film, only really the gloves, skirt pleats and bodice seen like the film, but I still think it's a fantastic doll.

Ariel's pink dress interests me because I'm not sure what the exact shade is. In the movie's Blu-Ray, it looks bubblegum pink, almost mauve. Reddit says mauve was very popular as a shade of pink in the 80s, especially in Molly Ringwald movies. But in the Beast thread, there were posts about Disney film prints. I've seen the Mermaid one now and her dress is coral pink (leaning towards orange/salmon), not bubblegum pink (leaning towards purple) so I wonder which one is the real color.
Is Cinderella's hair strawberry blonde in the new restoration? When I watched it after purchasing, it seemed consistent in being golden brown. I don't remember it looking orange anymore like in the old restoration. I think it makes sense because Cinderella would not be a redhead. Anastasia was a redhead and Drizella a brunette so Cinderella would be a blonde. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the 90s Mattel dolls vs Disney Store dolls of today. I'm glad you like the Signature Cinderella doll even if she's not 100% accurate for you.

I have never seen the 35mm of Mermaid, but I prefer Ariel in mauve than coral.
Cinderella's hair is almost always brownish gold in the new 4K restoration, but I think I've seen instances of it where it looks orangeish even in that version. I should re-watch the film again and pay attention to her hair at all times. I like Cinderella with golden hair most, but I also like her as strawberry blonde. If she's brownish gold that is similar to Drizella's brown and if she's strawberry blonde that's similar to Anastasia's red, too, so we can't avoid it.
Thanks for liking my thoughts!

If you're interested in the 35mm of Mermaid, I can send you the link since a user (who I will keep anon in case he doesn't want to be publicly named) was kind enough to send it to me. But in the Beauty and the Beast thread, people are openly discussing it so you can also ask for it there if you prefer.
Yes, I remember it being brownish gold but off the top of my head, I don't remember orange. If you do watch it again, please let us know if you remember any scenes where it was more orange than. I think I also like golden hair the most because it's the prettiest. I don't like orange so hair that color doesn't interest me very much. Drizella's hair is brown but also a very dark brown, almost black at times, so I think that makes for a rather large contrast between Cinderella's own sorta brownish hair. And like you said, making it too red/orange can clash with Anastasia's even if her hair is an actual red like Ariel's.
Of course! There's a reason I said you were one of the posters whose posts I enjoyed reading the most on here.

Sure, send me the Mermaid link!
I watched Cinderella in 4K a few nights ago and paid attention to her hair. It is almost always a golden brown, but when she says, "I guess my dress will just have to wait" in the attic, and a few times when she is in her torn pink dress in the garden with her Fairy Godmother, it looks orangeish, to me. But it is still always a blonde, just in those instances kind of a strawberry blonde. I wonder if other people looking at those same scenes would feel that way.
I like your posts, too!

Will do!
Thank you for taking the time to rewatch the movie to pay attention to Cinderella's hair color. When I get time later, I will rewatch those specific scenes you listed to see what color I think her hair looks like. I know sometimes color can be subjective depending on the eyes of the viewer. I should have asked you this before you watched the movie, but does Drizella's hair look more black or dark brown to you? Also would you say Drizella's dress color is green or more of a golden/copper color? By that, I mean her regular dress she wears at home, not her nightgown or ballgown which are actually green. I also think it's interesting that Anastasia's signature color is pink but only her nightgown is pink. Her ballgown and regular dress are more purple usually.
Thanks so much for saying!

Thanks for the links! Will check them out when I have time.
I should check out Drizella'a hair color next time. Her at home dress changes color from shot to shot. In the first scenes we see it, during the music lesson, it is an orangeish/brownish yellow. In a few later shots after the invitation to the ball is read, it is greenish yellow. When the Duke comes and the glass slipper fitting stuff happens, it is a very greenish yellow or just plain green.
If I had to say one color it is mostly consistent of, that would be greenish yellow.
Anastasia's at home dress is usually pinkish purple, but sometimes it looks pink. Same with her ballgown.
This is all how I view the colors, and yeah, colors are subjective, weird, huh?

You're welcome. I did look at those scenes of Cinderella you mentioned. The attic scene where she leaves her pink dress is one where I felt her hair is maybe slightly more orange-ish than usual but not by much. I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it. I looked at all the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo scenes but I felt her hair always looked golden yellow there.
I do agree with you about Drizella though. The reason I asked you about her hair and dress is because I remember when I last watched, that I was confused about how often her dress color changed. Even in that ball invitation scene, Drizella's hair is a dark gray. But when she snatches the invitation out from Cinderella's hand, her hair is clearly brown so it's inconsistent shot from shot. When she's putting on the slipper, her hair is black and her dress the most green with no yellow.
It reminds me of how Sleeping Beauty has Briar Rose's dress change color from shot to shot. Sometimes it looks gray, sometimes brown, sometimes tan. Even her golden hair is different shades of gold from shot to shot, sometimes lighter and sometimes darker.

I understand fully, on Cinderella's hair, Drizella's hair and dress, and Aurora. I need to watch Drizella's hair on my own, but otherwise I completely agree!

Here's a pic of the Cinderella 75th Anniversary doll and close-up of the shoes:
I got my doll last night! Here I am with it today:
I am so, so, so happy I have it! It is my third favorite doll now, after 2nd being Aurora 65th and 1st being Saks Cinderella. But even in third place, it's soooo good to me that it is a very high honor! It fights for that #1 spot in my mind! Maybe I love all three 1st place lol.
Carl Folkerts on Instagram said he thought the dress was a take on the wedding dress and not the ballgown, and, it
is silver and white, and has long sleeves, and has the overlapping wraparound bodice, true, but it has no veil and the back of the box says it is for Cinderella going to the ball, so, as I thought, it's supposed to be her silver and white ballgown!

Great picture!! Happy you got her!!
I think where that person may be getting that from is in the earliest leaks of the doll, the source said it was a version of her wedding dress. But I think you are right, it’s clearly an interpretation of her ballgown from her night with the Prince.

I am so glad you got your doll now! I am so sorry her hair got messed up, but I am glad you might be able to fix it! I don't know what I would do if it happened to me, since I never unbox. But man, that picture just shows how freaking beautiful she looks! And in person she is so sparkly!
I think this doll has become my new #1 favorite after some time thinking about her and looking at her!
