Pasta67 wrote:That's what I thought as well. Maybe Disney got him with the "Release a skimpy disc now and get them to double-dip later for the Blu-Ray release with more features" mentality, though Mr. Lasseter doesn't seem like the person who would buy into that. You'd think he would've at least made it so that a commentary be put onto Cars' disc, since it's obvious he loves talking about his films. Perhaps he wanted more time to produce supplimental features (with the time gap between theatrical release and DVD debut becoming ever smaller), but Disney wanted to get the movie out by the holidays, so PIXAR didn't get to finish their bonus features.
I have a new theory of why John didn't stop the one disc release of Cars. John is always about giving the best possible picture for their films on DVD. Now with Blu-Ray coming out and it having even a better looking image, I am positive he would want people to switch to Blu-Ray so he moved the bonus features onto the new disc to encourage people to switch. He probably knows the whole situation about people being too unsure whether or not to switch from DVD to Blu-Ray.

 That's so cool! Haha I would totally try it, but I doubt there's any place around here that has that. :(

I saw this again last Friday with my grandmother. She thought it was "cute," and I thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around, too. One joke that will never get old is the tenderizing of the steak.

I was really happy to see Ratatouille's cover art unveiled today, I think it looks really great. I love seeing new cover art!! :) However, I am more than disappointed with Disney's decision to make this release yet another lack-luster single disc edition, as they did with Cars last November. And on that note, dispite my overall dislike for the film, I am disappointed to see that Disney is only releasing the 2-disc version of Cars on Blu-Ray disc. I really enjoy the 2 disc DVDs, as I'm sure everyone else does, and I would like to have 2 disc DVD versions of both Cars and Ratatouille. I feel shafted.

The cover ain't half bad! When I look at it, it just seems to...work.
Just hope no one notices that if they are supposedly in Gusteau's right now, what is that other restaurant in the window?

I guess it's Blu-Ray AND DVD for me.

I agree with you Simba3 in that regards of being shafted but I personaly find the Cover Art for Rat to be blah - I had hoped that we would get one of the movie posters for its cover art... but oh well....

Yes, it will.

Pixar/Disney is rightly pushing Blu-ray. Props to them.

I LOVE the cover art for Ratatouille! It's much better than the cover art for Cars, by miles! As much as I love Cars, I've always disliked the cover art. That's why I'm glad I picked up the Blockbuster version, to get that tin.

However, much like Cars, I'm very pissed at Disney for giving DVD owners the shaft. I'm really annoyed with Disney for going the single-disc route, especially with them now giving better treatment to Blu-Ray. I mean, all of Pixar's other films have been treated to 2-Disc releases. Why can't they give the same treatment to the newer films?

I am sure, like with Cars, there will be a bonus disc or two made available at retail, and, I'll end up buying how many ever copies of the film to get them. It's just so frustrating, and if I weren't such a darn fan, I'd just tell Disney where to go, and not buy any DVD until they gave them the best treatment possible!

like Cars, I hate the cover art.

I preferred the original theatrical poster of Remy with the cheese and the knives and forks.

That cover art is bad, like the Cars artwork from last year. I'll still buy it, obivously.

I think the cover art is pretty good. It's better than the posters at least.

I don't know if I'll pick this up or not. I loved the movie, but... I don't know.

Oh and I found a high-res pic (from DavisDVD):

A bit off topic: If this format war hasn't ended yet, why does Disney bother to release anything in Blu-Ray? Wouldn't it be more logical to wait and see which is the next way to watch movies?

I change my mind. Forget Blu-Ray and the features, the DVD will be enough for me. I'm tired of being disappointed with DVD releases.

Yeah--I don't really like the cover art

I agree with you 100%. I don't mind that Disney is promoting Blu-Ray, but releasing relatively subpar DVDs is not enough incentive to switch. The HDTVs have to come down in price first. Once that happens, the Blu-Ray players will also be a little more reasonable, and people will be more apt to support the new format. As it stands, though, the majority of the movie consumers are buying DVDs exclusively, and they should not have to put up with half-hearted bonus features.

i finally saw it on opening night yesterday.

i liked it. it was touching but can be pretty SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW in pace. and the ending with the rats were funny altho i wish they'd stopped when they should. it just got carried away towards the closure.

so far i rank it at...

1)a bug's life
2)toy story
3)toy story 2
4)the incredibles
5)monsters inc.
6)ratatouille
7)finding nemo
8)cars
