Aside of all the extras, the transfer was improved in every way.

Yesterday, Oliver and Company for the first time; very good movie and incredible music.



..... and it seems I'll be able to complete my goal of watching all my Disney DVD movies on the new TV

Today I watched:

Mulan: sadly I didn't pay too much attention to it. But it has become one of my favorites. Love the music and the video transfer looks GREAT!

Sleeping Beauty: A movie for me to watch at night. Since I think the movie has some very serious issues with the pacing. First of all the movie has not a single exciting moment aside from the climax. That means that the movie goes like this: --------------------/\--- . And on top of all, moves TOO slow. You feel like as if the movie was 2 or 3 hours long.
So, I watch it at night since it isn't a loud movie and besides that's the only way to mantain my attention.

and right now The Black Cauldron. Another movie to watch at night. The only fault I find in this one is that probably the story itself is weak. Other than that, the movie as a whole is good; better than Atlantis and Home on the Range for sure.

PS

Also, I'm very pleased with the video transfer. VERY clean and pristine considering how old it is and that is the "worst" Disney movie.

Today:

Right now starting The Rescuers Down Under.

Another one with a bad transfer. Not as ugly as Hercules. This one is much more pleasant to the eyes but still. VHS quality all over.

It is funny how older and less famous movies like: The Black Cauldron and The Rescuers have better transfers.

Lilo and Stitch II - Overall feeling: Meh. Aside the touching ending they toyed around too much with Lilo's character. I didn't believe in her actions for a second.

2 more movies today:

The Great Mouse Detective: Very, very nice transfer. The movie is not yet one that I particularly like but I hope it does so after repeated viewings.

Dumbo: The transfer was very mediocre. It is all grainy and needs a restoration.... I used to have fond memories of this movie; it was probably the first (still in doubt if it was Pinochio) Disney movie I saw and when it came out on DVD I rushed to buy it. It ended up been very subpar to my memories. As such, is a movie I barely watch.

Not that I'm saying that is a horrible movie, just that is not what it meant for me back then.

Alice in Wonderland- the transfer is specatacular and it may just become my second favorite Disney movie, just because it is so vibrant and beautiful.

Cinderella- I have seen this movie 1,001 times, since my babysitter would subject us to this and TLM alternately every other day. As a consequence, I know this movie in and out- I'm talking dialogue, music, musical score, and background noises. However, I've never seen it look so...clean. It is awesome what restoration does to a fifty year old film.

Watched The Incredibles again last night. The more I watch this movie the more I like it. Great movie, but I wished I had gotten to see it in the theater.

Currently watching: Cinderella

I just bought this last night, it's beautiful! ...that and it has a preview for Lady And The Tramp, so that's even better.

What a coincidence!!! I'm also currently watching Cinderella. It is a very fun and enjoyable movie.... and another AWESOME transfer.

I watched The Jungle Book the other night for the 1st time in years. Totally awesome.

Right now in the middle of Pocahontas.

Ano ther DVD with a great and BEAUTFUL transfer. Thank God because the GC version was terrible!

However... the sound is disappointing. They used the same one as before. That means that although 5.1 it sure is stereo as the back speakers can't be heard at all.

Well, I'm watching Bambi right now.


Nice transfer but I don't find it as pristine as other PE or even SE. There must be a reason for this... and I know someone will eventually explain.

Once I finisj watching BAMBI it will mean that I just have to watch 11 more movies out of my 30 AC collection.

I watched Robin Hood today, which is my favorite animated classic. A lot of people knock it, but I still love it.

Toy Story - With audio commentary from the cast and crew. Very enjoyable. Everyone's seem to be having a fun time and they all just bounce off each other. They also don't hold back on information, while still preserving a fun atmosphere. Overall this is one of the better commentaries I've heard recently.

It doesn't have such a crappy transfer (right now that honor is shared by The Rescuers Down Under and Hercules... but still needs a very deserved new and clean video transfer and a real 5.1 sound.

I finally finished Bambi. I don't know about you guys but I'm one of those who get bored very easily with Bambi.

I know what you mean. The same thing happens to me with Sleeping Beauty and in a lesser way The Great Mouse Detective. But not because they're old, as Atlantis does the same to me.

Bambi was another one like those but it keeps growing within me everytime I watch it.

My recommendation is to watch it late at night (between 11:00pm till 3:00am). This is a movie that because of the music and the lack of action suits well at those times. Besides it will hold your attenttion much more easily.

Watch part of Snow White (on the DVD I got for $16 ) with my niece earlier.

I just put TARZAN (original 1 disc version).

OMG... WHAT A GORGEUS TRANSFER!!!! And the sound is very strong as well.


Makes you wonder. How come this early edition of this DVD was so beautifully treated (and enhanced for 16x9 TVs) and later editions of recent years of other movies came with very bad/mediocre video transfers and sound.

I watched Kronk's New Groove last night. I think that this DTV sequel is one of the best for sure. i really love it. the humor, story, and animation is pretty similar and stays true to the original. if you've been wondering whether or not to see this one i say deffinately give it a try!

I can't understand why this movie was a failure. It truly is a great and fun movie. (Well, it helped that they made TV spots for the wrong kind of movie. Whenever I watched them, I was like . Even when it came out on DVD it took me a while to finally rent it).

And the Silver character is just brilliant (and his relationship with Jim).

I just love the way that being "bad" as he is, gets to care and love Jim.

... and how he felt so proud of Jim when the captain congratulated him for the job Jim did securing the lines.

And what a wonderful speech he gives Jim to cheer him up and ends:

"...and when the time comes you get the chance to really test the cut of your sails and show what you're made of... Well, I hope I'm there catching some of the light coming off ya that day."

THAT's A FATHER!!! ; I wish I had a father like that.

One question:

I know that Silver was supposed to keep Jim busy. But, he starts doing that just when Jim tells him his father left him. The question is: did he made him do all this jobs because he felt sorry for him or was it because he saw that it was the perfect opportuniy to make him busy?
