Well those verbs have different meanings. Like when you write "I heard this in the news." When you use the word "hear" people assumed that you watched it on TV or listen to it on the radio. So word choice is important.
I'm sorry I really can't explain it that well but it really depends on what the person actually did. So whatever that did that you are describing that's the word you want to use. Especially in informal writting or speach.

I know, but when we are talking here on the forum, because we could say "I´m glad to hear you´re right" but we are reading it, so it would be "I´m glad to READ you´re ok"?

But that's sounds akward so you wouldn't use "read." Besides this forum is formal so you would use formal definitions. And we're not talking on the forum, we're writting on the forum. Actually if you rewote it as "I'm glad to read that you are ok" is fine but that's informal.

I think most people would be familiar with the movie my signature came from (and for those of you who have been living under a rock for the last 6 years, it's Toy Story 2 ) This is such a good example of why I love the Toy Story movies -- great characters and dialogue.

One of my friends just likes to make really bizzare stories! One of the stories was how he got this "baby with a skull head" from the blackmarket and he know keeps it as a pet. I asked where he got this pet and his reply made me laugh the whole day.

My new one is from King of the Hill where Boomhauer rambles about porn on the internet.

The funny thing about Alan is, the more I read from him, the more I'm amused, but also the more I can't stand him.
