^I loved this trailer too. :D It was more epic than the previous ones, wasn't it? I like that the mother is going to have an active part in the adventure. It'll be a double road trip movie. :P But I think I like that too, at least it's something different.

A new poster has also been released:

So the horrible Star Wars-inspired posters continue... Ugh.

I found this new trailer just as lukewarm as the previous trailer. It felt just as silly and incongruous in tone.

it does look cute. I like all the more pure fantasy stuff, wish there was more of that and less of the modern everyday life stuff

Honestly it feels like almost any studio could have made this film and not Disney/Pixar.

Interesting. The plot was that the brothers were too young to remember him, but based on the trailer, it sounds like the oldest brother do have memories about him.

It still feels like the manticore has the wrong gender. Maybe it's because of the hair. Her head is that of a lion, and only males have a thick mane. Lionesses have short hair. Her mane is restricted to her head and does not go all the way around as in real lions, but it is enough to make her look like a male lion. And maybe they should have made her voice a little deeper, male or female.

Oooh! I really liked that trailer! It got me excited and I felt sad when the younger brother was saying he didn't think he could succeed and get to see his dad.

I like the blend of modern and fantasy because it's funny! I mean look at the policeman counting! And the character designs make sense to me with this more modern and Pixar take on fantasy.

New TV spot, which unfortunately doesn't feature new footage, and two short promos:

Agreed. I find the premise of that comic book far more interesting than that of the actual movie.

New still (hi-res version here) and some words by the film's director:

Image
In the Pixar comedy, which imagines fantasy creatures in a modern landscape, Ian (voiced by Tom Holland) is an elf gifted on his 16th birthday with a wizard's staff and a spell to spend a day with the father he never knew. When the magic goes wonky after conjuring Dad's bottom half, Ian and his older metalhead brother Barley (Chris Pratt) have only 24 hours to bring back the rest of him. "Dad's legs are the dangling carrot the whole way," director Dan Scanlon says. "They can communicate a little, but it's only made more sad by the fact that they could have more. It just is this great ticking clock to fix the problem and get as much of the day as they can get with him."

I can't say I would be excited by a PIXAR buddy roadtrip version of LOTR myself, but different strokes.

According to Box Office Pro, right now Onward is expected to have an opening weekend of around $50 – 70 million and it's one of their top 15 Movies with the biggest box office potential in 2020. Variety also thinks it'll be a success.
