Well in my opinion it is a draw. Snow White has some brilliant parts, the story, some of the animation and the multiplane camera stuff is breathtaking. Also their are so many songs that are just classics! The transformation scene with the witch at the cauldron is just wonderful. However I find it tends to drag, also the faces of Snow White and the Prince just annoy me! They are just so, well bland! Also I feel that the climax is a let down. "Oh no! The wicked evil queen is stopped when she falls of a cliff"!
Likewise Sleeping Beauty has amazing animation and backgrounds. Maleficent is a triumph and the effects stunning! Also the job of converting Tchaikovsky's ballet into a score was inspired. And as for the final battle with prince and Maleficent, well I don't need to tell anyone how stunning the animation is! However I feel the story does plod along a bit.
So yeah, they are a draw.
Although neither is as good as Home on the Range!

How dare you put down the music of the Great Peter Illych Tchaikovsky to the music in snow white?

I think it's only fair to accept other people's opinions, Alan. Mr Toad may think differently to you, but that doesn't make him wrong. He may have been saying
Snow White had better music for the reason I said in my post on this thread.

Sleeping Beauty, without a doubt! Not only does this film hold a special place in my heart, it knocks Snow White on almost every aspect.
Story - I find the plot in "Snow White" too be too dragging, while "Sleeping Beauty" is almost always filled with great action.
Visually - Although I really appreciate the animation in SW, and find it still impressive today, SB just can't be topped visually. It's pristine, breathtaking, realistic!
Musically - "Once Upon A Dream" still gives me chills. The whole SB soundtrack is just haunting and magical. Definitely one of the strongest points of the film for me.
Villainess - Maleficent is the perfect villainess, she's beautiful, evil, sarcastic, and the dragon transformation in the end is perhaps one of the greatest moments in animation. She's just fabulous.
Characters - Although Aurora is often criticized for being the passive herione that she is, I absolutely love her character. She's beautiful, charming and overall an appealing heroine.

Plus, if it weren't for Snow White, we wouldn't have all the other Disney classics to watch, including Sleeping Beauty.
Walt was not just working on Snow White, but many other films at the same time. With or without Snow White, we'd have Disney classics. If he put Pinocchio out first, it still would have been the same effect. Snow White was the first, and started it all, yes, but it's not like without it, we wouldn't have had Disney

I can't choose...they're both the same to me!
Both have good music, characters, and story line!

Sleeping Beauty, without a doubt. It's hard for me to really say why, though. I think Sleeping Beauty's whole is better than its parts, whereas Snow White is vice versa. Snow White has more colorful characters and a better script (Sleeping Beauty must have one of the shortest scripts in the Disney canon), but I think Sleeping Beauty has an overall better plot, animation, and score. It also feels more sophisticated to me than Snow White in terms of presentation.

Sleeping Beauty. My favorite Disney movie of all time. Partly because Maleficent is a villain to the highest level (see my comment in the villains countdown for a better explination on this)! But there's also alot of other fantastic things in it. I always get the feeling that people think Snow White is better beccause it was the first animated film. Well, IMO, Sleeping Beauty is a far superior and better film.

The thread of Snow White versus Sleeping Beauty got me thinking of who you would choose if Beauty And The Beast was also included. I'm asking which movie do you prefer between Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty And The Beast.

For me it's Beauty And The Beast. It's one of my all-time favourites along with The Lion King and Aladdin.

Beauty and the Beast, but don't you think this is sort of taking things too far? What's next? Snow White vs. Sleeping Beauty vs. Beauty and the Beast vs. The Little Mermaid vs. Cinderella vs. Aladdin vs. Pocahontas vs. Mulan?
