Bob didnt specify which one he just said Fantasia since he said other classic tittle we assume he meant the classic one. since the platinum line is suppose to be over by october 07. And HD-DVD is suppose to be in the market by mid 06. it seems reasonable the Fantasia 2006 will start their new HD-DVD collection depending on time of release.

wow... HD-DVD in 2006? You're kidding right? I thought no earlier than 2008. I'll have to do more research. But wont there be more than just the HD-DVD on the market? And if not, wouldn't take a long while for everyone to switch over to HD-DVD???

sorry for my ignorance... I dunno this much about HD-DVD

well HD-VHS is out in the market now, and from what i read now, this company is making this stand along device to hook up to exciting DVD player to make them HD compatible if you dont wanna buy new equip so i think the transition will be fast among technology freaks like us  just as DVD was back when it came out.

wow, if their making a cable that will change the DVD player into an HD-DVD player that would be awsome!!!! And by that, one would assume that HD-DVD's would be Back-wards compatible? right?

I feel like Panic from Hercules. I'm seriously talking in a squeaky voice and jumping up and down at this news! Ohmigod do you all realize how amazing this new dvd lineup is? 5 year moritoriums, and 2......get that 2 Platinum dvds a year! Why didn't they think of this sooner? Seriously as soon as anyone finds out an updated tentative release schedule, please post it. I mean like the second you hear it, because I'm going to be checking back almost every hour on the hour for a while....2 Platinums a year good golly where is all my money going to be going?

Ha. I was just telling Jake on MSN a few days ago that I couldn't see Disney holding out on the 1 a year policy. It was hurting them more than us...

Well I don't know what to say about Pinocchio, Peter Pan or Sleeping Beauty.

Pinocchio has, of course just been released as a 1 disc "SE" in Europe and Australia. I'm annoyed as the disc isn't that "special" after all - Disney UK will have some explaining to do when the 2 disc set arrives. Hopefully the 2 disc set will include Production artwork (sadly missing from the "SE" and ALL the Figaro shorts and ALL the "I'm No Fool" shorts.

I have the European 2 disc sets of Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan. Peter Pan is a huge disappointment and couldn't be released as a "branded" Platinuim disc as is in my opinion. It certainly needs more work doing to it. Still that hasn't stopped me placing the Japanese set on order :) The Specs for the Japanese release seem the same, it will be interesting if more content has been added anticipating a R1 release.

Sleeping Beauty is a wonderful 2 disc-set: On paper it doesn't look that impressive, but it's certainly more satisfying than last year's Beauty and the Beast (and by the looks of it this years Lion King). But I do think it needs a little extra push to comfortably brand it as a Platinum release.

As I see it Sleeping Beauty 2003 will not be labled as Platinum, Sleeping Beauty 2008 will (with perhaps the contents re-jigged a little).

Now why didn't they take this opportunity to add Lilo and Stitch to the list and therefore enable them to make a 2 disc edition and save face at the same time? Indeed if they think the Platinum editions sell so well and make them money (which one would imply by them increasing rather then decreasing the frequencey) why not also announce all new new releases would be 2 disc sets as well?

Re Fantasia

In France you can currently buy the 3 disc Anthology (although some supplements from the R1 version are missing), Fantasia on it's own or this 2 disc Fantasia set (which only has the Fantasia supplements from the 3 disc set... I think).

I'll think that they're more likely to rework some of their oversea's 2 disc sets first (a 2 disc Pinocchio or Peter Pan in March 2004?)

They should do that 2-Disc CE of Hunchback that was promised a while ago.

Aladdin is definitly in one of next year's spots. Peter Pan probably won't be back for a while (I'm thinking 2006-2007ish) because we just had the SE and they'll want to keep it out of print a while because otherwise Average Joe will think "Oh, I just bought that, no need to buy again" and it won't sell too well.

I'm hoping Sleeping Beauty is labeled Platinum this year so I only have to buy it once ;).

Little Mermaid should arrive by 2005 if not next year. However, I'm most anxious to see the new schedule. In any case, this is great news -- 13 out of the 14, if not all 14, of the Platinums will be in my hands come my high school graduation in 2007. Cool!
