wow I didn't expect this topic to be so succesful!!!

What I meant about Flower is that OBVIOUSLY it's not gay at all, at the end of the movie we calls his son "Bambi" and he does fall in love with the female counterpart.

I think it would've been easier if it was a female (and fall in love for a male counterpart)... because it would have not been c

Anyway, let me tell you that the city I live in (Guadalajara, México) is one of the gayest cities in the world, just behind San Francisco  and this topic is not to state that a gay connection is bad at all, I think it'll be great if childen get raised in a friendly enviroment of diversity, such as race, nations and sexuality.

I just wanted to point out that maybe the development of the character (Flower) might have worked out better as a girl... no big deal

:)

Personally, I think that anybody who calls Flower the skunk a homosexual is being a cynical idiot like some of the people found on the IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Forums; Bambi was made in a time of innocence and bashing it for being cute is mean as you've got to look at it in historical context. Flower is the stereotypical shy kid of the early 1940s; he may sound somewhat camp but he's just got a cloying accent. I don't think that there was a plan by Walt Disney and his studio to incorporate homosexual skunks into the movie.

This "gay subtext in Bambi" myth has been going round the net for ages. So has the one about Alice in Wonderland being about drugs. And the sexual imagery in The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. Can't someone give these family films a break?

Seriously, I'm not sure if topics concerning dark subtexts in Disney movies should be on this board; this is a board about Disney DVDs not about strange conspiracies in the movies on the DVDs.

Hi:

Just a little quote--of myself-- for explain what I think:

"The sin is on the eyes of the sinner" or in spanish--the original 8)
"El pecado está en los ojos del pecador"

so, if you see more on the name Dick, or you see a gay in Flower...I think you know what I mean

Well, first of all, can you read the first post on this topic?

It states that I always thought that Flower was meant to be a female character. Not that it is gay.

The "gay statement" is about the INTERACTION between Flower and Bambi, during the meeting scene, which is no big deal.

I found Wonderlicious' post out of place and agressive because here we are not insulting anyone, we're just discussing point of views. The only thing I agree is that the pople at IMDB forums are completely rude and just keep b*tch*ng

And no one here suggested that the Disney team planned to put that in the movie. It's not like they have this horrible master plans to conquer the world.

Besides NO ONE who has replied this topis has made and statement about if it is "right or wrong" anything about the character or about the gay lifestyle.

Isidour comment is also unnecesary, because it's only to "chingar quedito" as we say in spanish.

Bambi is a great movie that was planned extensively. The art, the story and the characters personalities are some of the elements that make this film so memorable.

But now, let's see: this movie was made in the 40's but it's still as important and famous nowdays as it was before (just look at the impressive sales numbers discussed in other topic).

I just say that when I was a child I got confused it the skunk was a boy or a girl, and this was like when I was 5 yrs old so don't you dare to say I was looking in between lines. I think many kids have thought the same, specially the kids nowdays. In EASY words the topic was:

"Would have been easier to understand for everyone if Flower was a girl?? because the interaction with him and Bambi seems kind of gay"

This DOES NOT imply sexual behavior, or if gay friends are good or bad.

I just hope that some users in this forum start behaving in the way they claim they do: with RESPECT.

And of course it needs to be said that if it so happened that Flower was gay, it would not change our feelings about him and we would still love him just as much. Am I right?

LOL

But he is not gay!!!
We stated clear and loud for that...

Besides, this is a forum about Disney and most users are grown ups... I bet it's going to be really hard to find any homophobic person around here :P LOL

Hey Ric-Mx, I just wanted to point out that I was not specifically commenting to your statement at the beginning, but in general over the trend to unfavorably look for something in a Disney movie (or otherwise) that simply isn't there. I think we can all agree that we dearly love some of these movies and we jump to defend them when we can. I think I understand why everyone got so worked up.

I apologize if I lumped your statement together with ones from elsewhere that were actually malicious.
