I grew up in Italy, I lived on Disney vhs (movies and shorts). We didn't get any of the stuff on TV.
Sounds incredibely corny and not worthy of a blind-buy. Wave 3 will never be equaled.

Are you sure? Unfortunately, the infallible IMDb says Mr. Kirk wasn't in the original "Spin and Marty" or any of its future incarnations. They only have him listed for "The Hardy Boys" as far as MMC serials go. Now Tommy's on-screen brother Kevin "Moochie" Corcoran was in both the "New" and "Further" Adventures of Spin and Marty playing a character called "Moochie" (what else?), which aired in 1957 and 1958. Maybe a sampling of those will be included too. One can only hope.

Oh you know what? I was thinking of The Hardy Boys - I always get the two confused. Oh well. Hopefully TK will see his Treasures debut if THB gets its own set in the future. With S&M being released, it doesn't seem too far fetched.
Blah to Spin and Marty

Releaseing SPIN AND MARTY would be a COMPLETE WASTE!! The MMC Treasures was boooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrring, mainly because it was the first 5 ONLY. They need to release the MMC episodes that they aired on the D-CHannel with the Mouseketeers doing the FAMOUS "Were the Mousketeers, we wanna say hello..." and the Alma Mater in front of the Club House and the serials of Annete AND Spin and Marty AND the Hardy Boys. Not to mention Darlene and Sharon are in the later episodes.[/b]THAT was the MMC and they should be releaseing the rest of the show. Not wasting time and money releasing a serial.

I'm definitely going to buy them all because I want to collect every Treasure there's going to be. I already have every title
Yay, new Donald Duck Treasure! The first DD Treasure is the best treasure to date in my opinion.
But, to be honest, I have NEVER heard of Spin & Marty.

That's because Mickey Mouse club was never aired in Finland. I'd like to know some more about them. They little boys, right?
I'm gonna buy this only because I want to keep my collection compete!

I don't know Spin and Marty, but I haven't really been disappointed with any of the Treasures so far so I'll guess I'll buy it along with the rest.
I guess "Rarities" is a set of cartoons previously referred to as "miscellaneous" and lately as "assorted".
About Donald, the titles included in the upcoming Volume Two are probably going to give as a good idea of how many volumes are left. I guess there will be two more (volumes three and four).

Does anyone think Donald Vol 2 will skip the shorts on the Front Lines DVD or repeat them?

I guess they won't repeat Der Fuehrer's Face.
As for the others we can only guess, but whether or not they do could be decisive for the number of DD Treasures left.

I called Disney Video today, Feb. 16, to make requests for more (1955) Mickey Mouse Club, MMC Serials, So Dear to My Heart, Toby Tyler, Song of the South and Dr. Syn. After telling me one of the Treasure subjects for Wave 5, I asked if this operator could provide more info. The operator listed these four:
- Disney Rarities
- Legendary Heroes
- Spin and Marty
- Chronological Donald Vol. 2
There was no additional info provided: No contents, no release date, and nothing regarding whether or not Donald #2 would complete the DD collection.
I'll potentially be buying all four!
Great news!!!! Now this sounds promising... but I prefer to see Song of the South.

That was Roy's project. And since they released the recent collection without the bands with his name on it, they might be scrapping his projects. I hope not.

Ramday already asked the question I was going to ask. "On the Front Lines" had quite a lot of Donald Duck shorts on them, but I can see Volume 2 containing close to half the shorts already on the wartime set. Of course, I'm getting it anyway because I want all the Donald shorts, but I guess in a way it would be nice to skip over the war cartoons. Then again, maybe a lot of people don't have "On the Front Lines."

I guess I'll be picking up Donald v2 and Disney Rarities. I suspect that Disney Rarities is that rumored "Assorted Treasures" set (I hope, I hope!). The one that's supposed to have "Donald in Mathmagic Land" and "Ben and Me" on it.

Well, we "know" from the Dave Smith comment last week that the Disney Legends Treasure this time around will be Swamp Fox. SO...
DD 2
Disney Legends: Swamp Fox
Spin and Marty
Disney Rarities
I'm actually curious to see what will be on the Rarities. Could we see some Alice shorts? Maybe even Laugh-O-Grams? Possibly Small One? Possiblities for this one are really endless.

I have to admit that I've not heard of 'S & M' (Spin and Marty that is, not sadomasochism) or Swamp Fox for that matter (although a quick Google helped - I loved Disney's 'other' period adventure series - Davy Crockett - so this could be fun too. Actually now that's I've said 'period adventure', I wonder when 'The Story of Menstruation' will be out on DVD?). The Rarities excites me though.
Hmm. Would you believe I've barely cracked open the last Wave? Been so busy, and then on holiday (far away from my collection).
Have to sit down and have a Disney/Looney Tunes/Scooby Doo/Doctor Who marathon or something this weekend. Have tomorrow off so yay all round.

I have been even worse than Loomis. So far out of wave 3 I have watched one disc of Tomorrowland and one of Pluto. Better get going.
I have watched 2.5 discs of the Looney Tunes set though.

Definately gonna get DD 2 ... for the others I'm gonna need some more info first ... Legendary Heroes and Rarities I'll probably get ... Spin and Marty I probably won't get.

I always get excited when I hear the first news of what is expected on the next Wave of the Walt Disney Treasures. Here's my thoughts/feelings on the various sets:
Disney Rarities is my number one want IF the set is ALL the Specials cartoons, or even MOST of the Specials. My list of the Specials is on another subject thread about the Disney Rarities. The Specials shorts include some of the most interesting and unusual shorts among Disney's works. I own most of them but very much want them on DVD in nice quality picture and sound.
Donald Duck 2 is my number two want. The shorts should cover 1942-1947. I own these shorts but much look forward to DVD quality on them. There are many good shorts in these years, although there will be quite a bit of double dipping of the World War II cartoons. The shorts are as follows:
1942
The Village Smithy
Donald's Snow Fight
Donald Gets Drafted
Donald's Garden
Donald's Gold Mine
The Vanishing Private
Sky Trooper
Bellboy Donald
1943
Der Fuehrer's Face
Donald's Tire Trouble
Flying Jalopy
Fall Out - Fall In
The Old Army Game
Home Defense
1944
Trombone Trouble
Donald Duck And The Gorilla
Contrary Condor
Commando Duck
The Plastics Inventor
Donald's Off Day
1945
The Clock Watcher
The Eyes Have It
Donald's Crime
Duck Pimples
No Sail
Cured Duck
Old Sequoia
1946
Donald's Double Trouble
Wet Paint
Dumb Bell Of The Yukon
Lighthouse Keeping
Frank Duck Brings 'Em Back Alive
1947
Straight Shooters
Sleepy Time Donald
Clown Of The Jungle
Donald's Dilemma
Crazy With The Heat
Bootle Beetle
Wide Open Spaces
Chip an' Dale
Spin And Marty is my third want. I own this serial from the Mickey Mouse Club. The serial is about 4 1/2 hours long. This serial is a good story about maturing and learning to get along with others - it fits well with other Disney works of that time 1955-1957. This serial was titled The Adventures Of Spin And Marty. The two later serials were titled "The Further Adventures" and "The New Adventures". Annette Funicello is not in this first serial but does have significant roles in the other two serials. I suspect the interest in this set will generally be divided by age differences - the older Disney fans will want this set and will enjoy it, but the younger fans will find little to interest them and would consider it too boring, too sappy, and too old-fashioned.
Legendary Heroes is on the bottom of my wants. I'm not that interested in the various Revolutionary War period/frontier/western programs Disney showed on their anthology TV show in the 1950s. Swamp Fox in particular doesn't interest me. I have seen it a few times but it is just not my type of entertainment interest. Swamp Fox had 8 shows in its series. That is about 400 minutes. I guess Disney could cram that much on two discs. Instead of the set being all Swamp Fox, maybe some of the other series will be included. However, many of the shows don't stand alone well. The shows are better if released together as a set, like the Davy Crockett series.
I'll be very happy to own the first three sets and I'll probably buy the fourth set for "historical" reasons. I would have preferred the True-Life Adventures featurettes set. I guess that will have to wait a few years until Michael Eisner is gone from Disney.

So basically the complete first series could be on a 2-disc, right?

I actually like the Legendary Heroes, but I agree with you that I prefer them as a complete series (Davy Crockett) rather than a bit of many shows.
I *hope* it's the complete Swamp Fox rather than Swamp Fox with many other things.
I own every treasure made to date, but I'm skeptical if I should get Spin and Marty or the Legendary Heroes if it's bits and pieces.
