I feel like such a loser... I haven't bought one DVD from 2003 yet - my mom got me Love Bug but I have to wait until Christmas. It's sad.

NOT a loser, dude :) I actually think you are the most sensible one of the lot of us. You are doing the smart thing and waiting until Xmas. Meanwhile the rest of us impatiently spend our money to get the when they come out...
Now where is that credit card...must...order...more!

Sensible that I have the fewest DVDs here? *sniff* Oh well, I'm planning on spending my dough right after Christmas!

My most anticipated Disney DVDs for the rest of the year are the four monthly double-disc special editions starting next week.

September - Sleeping Beauty
October - The Lion King (likely gift set for me)
November - Finding Nemo
December - Pirates of the Carribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Also looking forward to the Treasures tins, especially Mickey Mouse in Living Color Volume II.

Disney should enjoy the fourth quarter too. Never have I seen a stronger one-two punch lineup of strong, mass-marketed titles lined up in such quick succession of each other. These four releases combined will likely make Disney the biggest studio on DVD this fall in terms of the sheer amount of sales and rentals (although they will all do much better selling than renting due to a lot of replay value on all of them.) Santa Clause 2 should also boost strong numbers, although The Two Towers EE is in a lock to be the #1 seller of its release week (it and Santa Clause, and Sinbad for that matter, share an 11/18 street date.) George of the Jungle 2 will probably sell to the soccer moms, too, though I'd much rather get the first one even if it is 1.33:1 P&S only.

I thought it was in 1.66:1 non-anamorphic DVD, but am I wrong? I've never even seen it, so I wouldn't know!

Nope, George of the Jungle is 1.33:1 P&S on DVD which is part of the reason I haven't bought it yet. I always said to myself that I would (just like Balto), but I keep holding off hoping we'll get a WS version, even if it is non-anamorphic.

I thought the cover art for the Platinum BatB was much more romantic than the first VHS release, but I didn't like the way Belle was drawn for the Platinum release.

I kinda wish Disney had stuck with the original Platinum artwork:

I liked the way Belle was drawn personally on the cover... what bugs me is that the DVD does not have the complete Special Edition and that it is matted from 1.66:1 to 1.85:1. Besides that, I had no problems with it.
