Whew. Always a tough subject. But, here's my top 5:

(1) The Lion King - the pinnacle of Disney animation, when everything came together. Funny, dramatic, great songs, beautiful animation, it has it all. One of the greatest opening sequences in *all* of film, not just animation. My mouth fell open in amazement when I first saw it on the big screen for the first time. I still get chills thinking of that amazing *BOOM* when the title appears.

(2) Fantasia - the film that shows what animation should aspire to. Aim beyond the standard musical, fairy tale, or comedy. A true artistic masterpiece.

(3) Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs - The one that started it all, without Grumpy and the Gang, there ain't no list to talk about.

(4) Bambi - How many children have been scared out of their wits hearing that gunshot?

(5) Little Mermaid - the one that *re*-started it all. I'm looking forward to the DVD, I really need to see this again.

Honourable mention to Sleeping Beauty for it's stunning appearance, and Hunchback for it's adult themes. Will we ever hear anything along the lines of "Let her taste the fires of Hell" again?

To me, animation is mainly art, rather than just entertainment, thus:

1. Sleeping Beauty
2. Fantasia
3. Bambi
